New Mexico USA
Monday 4th November 2001

The "Hut" dojo in New Mexico is to close in a few months time, after the building and completion of a purpose built new " Hut " dojo at a new location in NM.  The Hut teaches Positive Aikido to members of the USAF at the nearby Stealth bomber base at Holloman AFB, and to members of both the Highway Patrol dept , and the United States Marshals.

Our dojo's in New Mexico and Texas are both called the "Hut" in respect to the original Hut, which is still under the guidance of Sensei Haydn Foster, who started his training there in 1956.

Positive Aikido - The Book
Friday 2nd November 2001

Latest update on the release of the book "Positive Aikido".   The publishers have requested that some of the photographs be redone.  This is not a major problem.  The main delay has been caused by Sensei Ellis awaiting the BAB's reaction to the controversy article , as there is a section in the book on "Credibility", bogus instructors and the now popular hobby of "grade collecting".  The publishers have said that, with most Aikido books"

When you've opened one Aikido book you have opened them all.  Howver this book is different."

This book is not about fantasy and floating around the universe and the planets.  This book is practical and down to earth and that is probably the reason that four publishing houses are interested in publishing the book.

Kazuo Chiba Sensei
Tuesday 30th 0ctober 2001

Sensei Ellis, Sensei Eastman and Anita Wilson were very pleased to meet with Kazuo Chiba Sensei in Londons West End.  Sensei Ellis was assistant to Chiba Sensei in the 1960s and had not seen Sensei for several years , Chiba Sensei has invited Sensei Ellis to visit him in San Diego when Sensei Ellis next visits his dojo's in the USA. Sensei Ellis has agreed to maintain contact with Chiba sensei.

Sensei Ellis also discussed the BAB and the article "British Aikido - The Controversy" .  Chiba sensei said that he clearly remembers Mr Poole as a beginner in Sensei Ellis' dojo at Slough in 1968.  when I explained to Sensei about Mr Pooles claims he laughed out loud and appeared most amused.  as they parted, Sensei Ellis gave Chiba Sensei a copy of the article "British Aikido - The Controversy" taken from the web site, which he said he would read with great interest on the flight home the next day.
