Welcome to page 21 of Daves Colorfull Radios. On this page there is a Motorola catalin radio,a very rare peach glass radio from a small local company,and a radio that has a lack of color but is very different.

1940 Motorola 50XC-1 Catalin Radio

Motorola introduced a line of Catalin radios in 1940. The 50XC series was this model line. Motorola was also known as Galvin Manufacturing but would later incoperate under the Motorola name. The 50XC series was availible in red,green,alabaster,and tortoise colors. The red version pictured above was the 50XC-1. Each of the colors had its own model number in the series.

Hollywood Radio

Sparton in the 1930s was the most well known manufacturer of mirrior glass radios. Well there was a regional maker in Los Angeles that made some nice mirrior glass sets. Hollywood Radio Company made this peach colored set pictured above. This set is stylish and has a nice look with the peach colored glass and chrome.

Hallicrafter Clear Clock Radio

Back in radios early days glass sets made by homebrewers and some companies were popular sets. Hallicafters as a dealer promotion in the 1950s made a limeted number of clear plastic clock radios. This set is different for its lack of color! You do get a good look of the chassis and other components in this radio.Click here to go to page 22.
