Something's Amiss
It is mid-September and the girls are out watching the football team practice for the game the next day. Alli is walking on the field, trying to get over to the stands to watch, when a football rolls right in front of her.
Holman: Hey Alli! Can you pass that over this way? *He is all the way on the other side of the field and another guy is starting to run toward Alli to get it from her*
Alli: *smirks as she throws the ball to Holman on the opposite side of the field. It’s a perfect throw and the he catches it a bit astonished. Alli walks off and into the stands with a smile*
Holman: *yells* Nice throw! *Then he gets back to the practice*
Rami: What a throw! Where’d you get an arm like that?
Amah: Duh, dork! You should know better than that.
Rami: Ooh, I get it… cool.
Casey: Hey Alli, have you talked to Matt lately? Since he’s started school, I’ve hardly seen or talked to him. I was hoping you’d have more luck.
Alli: *takes a seat* Come to think of it, the last time I heard from him was the week before he started school, which was about 3 weeks ago, I think.
Casey: Yeah, that was the last time I heard from him too, cuz he was busy buying books and scheduling classes and stuff.
Alli: Well, I’m sure we’ll hear from him soon… *sees Matt in the parking lot* Well, speak of the devil. Look, he’s over there.
Casey: *turns* Hmm, who’s that girl with him?
Alli: *shrugs her shoulders*
Matt: Hey ladies… Casey.
Girls: *all in unison* Hi.
Matt: I’d like to introduce you to my girlfriend Melissa. She convinced me to come and introduce her to you guys. I figured you guys would be here since there’s a game tomorrow.
Alli: *is taken aback by this news but regains her composure* Well, it’s nice to meet you Melissa.
Melissa: Same here. *She flips her fiery red curly hair and shakes Alli’s hands*
Alli: *thinks to herself* Strange, her eyes… they don’t even look like they have any color at all. *She looks a little closer, but gets a little bit dizzy*
Amah: *holds Alli up* You ok?
Alli: Yeah, I think so.
Matt: Well, we need to be going. We have a class in an hour and it takes 45 minutes to get there. I’ll talk to you guys later. *He and Melissa run off toward the car*
Casey: *as if to herself* More like, hear from you never!

The football game is really intense—-first one team gets a touchdown, and then the other team does… it goes back and forth for a while. During half time, Alli sneaks into the guy’s locker room. Everyone is tired and down in the dumps thinking they can’t do any more. Alli is on good terms with the coach, so she talks to him and convinces him to let her give them a pep talk. She gives the most invigorating speech ever known. The guys are all revved up and then head out to the game, winning 67-32—-a record for their school. There is an after party to celebrate and the football team carries Alli into the house cheering her.
Alli: *as she is put down on the ground* Guys, I don’t deserve this. You’re the ones who did all the work! *She looks at everyone already partying and yells over the loud music* How about a hand for the guys! *Everyone claps and shouts and the guys walk in proudly*
The guys all look at Alli as one of the guys and ask her to join the chugging contest later on. She reluctantly agrees and wins. She walks away a bit tipsy and finds Holman on the couch.
Alli: Hey there Riiick! *She sits down and smiles* You did a great job out there! How’s the arm?
Holman: It’s fine, but I think you’ve had enough to drink.
Alli: *nods sadly* I know. Hand me some of those lil sandwich things over there. will ya?
Holman: *grabs a couple* Yeah, you need some. Here, I’ll get you some water. *He goes and gets the water and gets back and sees Alli eating and somewhat falling forward and off the couch. He catches her and tries to wake her up by splashing a little bit of water on her face*
Alli: Thanks buddy. Man, you are so amazing, you know that?! And your eyes, oh, your eyes. They’re such an amazing color of blue, you know.
Holman: Yeah, I know.
Alli: *gets closer* You know, my birthday is tomorrow? I haven’t told anyone. Well, it was actually the 4th, but I told everyone it’s tomorrow. 20 days a lil bit late, but whatever. So, shh… *She begins to fall off again*
Holman: I think I should get you home.
Alli: *shakes her head* I don’t wanna. Mary’s gonna yell at me! Oh, Mary! I promised I wouldn’t drink, and here I am drunk off my…! *she kisses Holman on the lips and he returns the kiss. The two start making out, she leans back to lay down, but Holman pulls away*
Holman: This isn’t right. Besides, you won’t even remember this tomorrow.
Alli: *she rubs her eyes* What? Where am I? *she looks dazedly around the room*
Holman: Oh man, let’s go. *he helps her up, but she falls back down on the couch asleep. He picks her up and carries her out the door. He sees Titus with Casey* I’m gonna drop her off. I think I’ll be heading home too. You want me to come back and pick you up or you wanna come along?
Titus: *he yells to Holman as he puts Alli in the back seat of the car* Yeah, give me a sec. *he looks at Casey* It is getting a bit late. I’ll talk to you tomorrow. *he runs off toward the car and looks back and says* Bye!
Casey: *waves a little bit confused and jealous* That’s the second time he’s gone off with Alli and Holman and left me here by myself. *she shrugs her shoulders as the three drive off* Whatever.
