This view is on 52nd Street, which is the main commercial street in Hyde Park

A winding street with Apt. buildings and houses following the curve.

This section of Hyde Park is almost exclusively filled with 3 story apartment buildings. Some of the darker ones didn't show up well in the pics because of the poor lighting.

Some rowhouses across the street from Kenwood High School.

Harper Square is a small pedestrian shopping area with shops on two levels. It seems an article of my clothing or some strange ghostly apparition is blocking part of the view.

A closer view of the 55th street commercial area.

Commuter rail is the only mass transit option for people commuting back and forth from Hyde Park and downtown Chicago. The only other "rapid" option is a crowded express bus with a surcharge to ride. This is Hyde Park's weakness, and might be one of the reasons why South Siders don't like to associate Hyde Park with South Chicago. The last four pics were taken from a Metra train on a different trip.
