A Little about My Grandparents

My Favorite Gram
My grama’s full name is Martha Kalmakoff. She lives in Pilot Point, Alaska. She weighs about 110 pounds, and she is 61 years old. Her hair is black with a little bit of gray, and it is curly. The color of her eyes is brown or black. I don’t look like my gram because I'm a boy. My gram doesn’t like to wear bracelets, aprons, and that other stuff.
She used to work up in the community hall and paint the rooms there. Once in a while she would go up there to paint some more. The way she used to get to work was on the Honda, or my Auntie Jackie would give her a ride in the truck.
When she used to paint, I would go see her once in a while and ask her what time she wanted me to pick her up and other stuff. My gram likes to wear jeans and sweat shirts. I have never seen her wear a sleeveless shirt before. Whenever my gram goes to Anchorage or something, I would go with her to go shopping, to go eat at restaurants, and to do other stuff.
When Port Heiden has their carnival, I go with her. She spends money on the raffles, buttons, and tickets down there. I just hang around with other kids and go to the dances and other things. I like being with my grama because she is the only grama I have and because I live with my gram and grampa.
I'm probably the second favorite grandson my gram has. My gram has a favorite grandson named Shawn Kalmakoff. He is my first cousin. She doesn’t tell me she loves me, but I know she does. When some of her family comes to visit her, my gram likes to talk with them and tell stories.
My gram has some brothers and sisters, but I don’t know how many she has. My gram has a couple of habits: smoking and watching T.V. Her favorite kind of music is county because she always listens to it. I saw my gram cry only a couple of times in my life. When one of her relatives died, she went to his funeral and she started to cry a little bit.
I think the words that describe my grama are happy, funny, kind, and a good Grama. One of the gifts my gram gave me was my Nintendo 64. She has given me different gifts too. When I'm in school, my gram expects me to do well. The way my gram disciplines is when I do something really bad, she just gets mad at me. I think it is fair the way she disciplines.
My gram has taught me to value respect, family, and God.

My Grampa
My grampa’s full name is Micarlo Joseph Kalmakoff. I always call him Grampa, and so does everybody else in our family. He lives on top of a hill in a blue house with my grama. He has three daughters and quite a bit of grandchildren.
I don’t know how long he has lived there, but I have lived there for fourteen years with my gram and grampa. He is about my height. He weighs about 200 and some pounds. The colors of his eyes are brown, I think. The color of his hair is black with white.
My grampa is 62 years old. His birthday is on January 25, the day after my birthday. Whenever he dresses up, he puts on Black Shade after-shave. He wears long-sleeved blue shirts with black jeans. I go with him whenever it’s fishing season on the boat. I like to go fishing because my grampa likes to fish.
I think he likes being with me, but I don’t really know. I’m not his favorite grandson. My other cousin Shawn Kalmakoff is my grampa’s favorite grandson. I don’t know how many sisters and brothers he has. A couple of habits he has are chewing snuff and whistling. I don’t have any of his habits. My grampa likes to listen to country music and the radio. I have never seen him cry in my life. I think the words that describe my Grampa are kind, happy, helpful, smart, and a good dad.
I can’t remember a gift that he has given me, but I’m sure that he has given me one before. I think my grampa would like for me to do well in school. I think my grampa taught me to value my work in school, life, and fishing. Whenever I do something bad, he gets mad at me and tells me what I shouldn’t do and what I should do. I think it is fair.
The kind of father I would like to be is like my grampa. I don’t think I would do so well as a father as he does. The things I like most about my grampa are that he is nice, funny, and a good grampa.
