Be aware that some topics may be subject to change as conditions warrant.

(NOTE: The actual meeting dates are January 22-23-24, 2016 (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). You may choose to arrive earlier and/or leave later to continue with your own Hawaiian vacation plans. The dates were selected based on voting from the membership at the business meeting in Juneau in April 2013, subject to when the meeting room would be available. The courses will be presented only in the mornings of three consecutive days. All courses WILL have been ASRT pre-approved for category A credit. There will be an opportunity to earn about twelve (12) credits of CEU’s at this seminar. The speakers and class topics are confirmed, subject to change. Look for the updated schedule on this site in the event any changes occur.

The classes will be presented at the University of Hawaii- Maui College - EdVenture, 310 W. Kaahumanu Ave., Laulima Bldg.#104, Room 107 (First floor), Kahului, HI . Lodging may be available in Kihei as before, and if you choose not to rent a car limited transportation will be available from Kihei each morning of the meeting. They will begin at 8:00 am in room 107 at the campus.

Would you be available and interested in assisting in the presentation of this workshop/seminar in any way, such as:

  1. Guest Speaker -
  2. Assist with registration desk tasks
  3. Setting up AV equipment
  4. Tables/chairs setup
  5. Sharing lodging
  6. Transportation of participants to/from hotel to other venues
  7. Other workshop related duties defined on-site

2. Would you be interested in participating as a group in selected off-site activities, such as:

  • Luau
  • Visit to top of Haleakala volcano
  • Snorkeling at Molokini
  • Submarine cruise
  • Outrigger canoe paddle
  • Other: ____________________________

Lodging may still be available (condo) at Kihei Kai Nani during that time frame. A couple, or two technologists sharing a room would have a more affordable rate by splitting that cost. Contact Kihei Kai Nani for more datails at (808) 879-9088.

The time to book is now, before they are all taken since it is smack in the middle of tourist season this time. These units are across the street from the beach, but a bit of a drive to the hospital. Some may choose to stay in Lahaina, or closer in to the meeting location. In those cases remember to allow time to travel to arrive at the presentaations by 8:00 a.m. There are B &B's in the area, as well as a Hostel and camping sites.

Attendees may wish to arrive days earlier, or stay longer to enjoy Hawaii in addition to the workshop. Round Trip airfare via Alaska Airlines, from Anchorage (ANC) to Kahului, Maui (OGG) is available, but the short flights (6 hours) are only available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. You may fly on other days, but the travel time is extended. Other airlines offer different flight scheduling. Expect specials to be offered as we approach PFD payout time. Also, if you are a member of Club 49 you may discover specials that will cut the costs of airfare. Registration is $145.00 for twelve(12) CEU's, although depending on the speakers there may be more than that.

NOTE: Courtesy of Robert, arrangements have been made with Alaska Air for special rates from any city in Alaska (except Prudhoe Bay, sorry). Alaska Air Discount Information

This is a workshop/seminar, so there will be no banquet, business meeting, or other expanded activities normally provided at an annual conference. The off-site activities listed above may be pursued individually apart from the group.

Although many may choose to eat out, these condos are fully equipped just like your own home, and there are familiar stores (like Safeway, or in Kahului a Costco) where you may buy groceries just as you would at home. And, of course, you would still need to buy groceries if you stayed home.

Since this is a professional continuing education activity to meet mandatory requirements for maintaining a credential required in the technologists work there may be tax incentives for attending. Each individual should consult their own financial/tax consultant to determine the extent to which this may apply to you.
