James Rains Lee was an early merchant in Spierville, Arkansas on the old military road operating a general store, until the railroad reached the area about 1910.

The railroad was built in such a way that it bypassed the village, so James Rains Lee planned to move his business and the building to a new locations near the railroad depot. The older residents remembered the difficulty of the move as the weather delayed the event due to the wet season which stopped progression for 2 to 3 months. W. L. "Logie" White and his crew with a horse-powered windlass, black gum rollers, jacks and cables, finally transported the building to its new location about half way to the newly established town of Subiaco, Arkansas. Mr. Lee continued his business there as long as his health allowed.

J. R. Lee's wife's name noted spelled in different forms: Perlina or Pilinah, question if one nickname and one actual formal first name.
