Oswald Plans 1998 Conspiracy Theory Reunion Tour

Conspiracy Theory perform in Dallas, November 1963

In a move that has startled music industry insiders, Lee Harvey Oswald has announced that he will re-unite with his backing band, Conspiracy Theory, for a 1998 summer stadium tour. Oswald had previously said that no such tour would be possible "while any members of the original band are still living".

Fans will remember that the band originally achieved fame with their reggae hit, "I Shot the President" which entered the charts with a bullet in late 1963. However, they subsequently split under acrimonious circumstances when Oswald insisted on sole songwriting credit for the song, despite overwhelming evidence that other band members were deeply involved.

Since then, Oswald's career has been plagued by reports of his death, as well as a persistent rumor that he in fact had no creative input into any of Conspiracy Theory's music. "It's just not true," says Oswald vehemently. "I was always the one behind the creative gun in that band. Despite what Jesse ( Jesse Paul Warren, lead singer/guitarist with rival band the Warren Commission) might say, there was no one else up on the hilll."

The tour will kick off in Dallas, where the band played their last gig almost 35 years ago. "It's just a sentimental thing," Oswald states. "We wanted to go back to our roots at the Grassy Knoll (the legendary underground club where Conspiracy Theory made its start) and just kick it from there."

The band plans to continue its tour with stops in Memphis, at the Los Angeles Hilton Ballroom, and at Ford's Theater in Washington DC. Legendary punk band the Dead Kennedys have landed the coveted opening slot.
