Dragons

"Fire Dragon" (Graphite, 1985)
I was struck witht the thought of burning the corner of this sketch for effect.

"Untitled" (Graphite, 1990)
For sale, mail me for information. I was going to paint this in pale, morning shades but a friend suggested a night scene that worked beautifully. That was one of my largest paintings--4' x 3'--and was one of my faves.

"Marsh of the Dead" (Acrylic, 1991)
I originally did this is in colored-pencils while camping. There were vines and snakes in the trees and the stylized words "Marsh of the Dead" written out on it. I got to this point, though, & liked it enough to stop. This is laid out mathematically, with the sun at the exact center (so painting it 3 more times for friends was fairly easy.)

"Cavern Dragon" (Graphite, 1993?)
Eventually painted this as a black dragon in a fiery cavern.

"Dragonman" (Graphite, 1994)
That's a sword in his hands, btw.

(Graphite, 1995)

"Defiance & Defender" (Graphite, 1995)

"Good Knight for a Cookout" (Graphite, 1995)
This didn't scan too clearly, unfortunately. Note the Knight on the dragon's bib, etc.

(Graphite, 1995)
The first thing I scribbled when my friend requested a dragon sketch for her wedding present.

(Graphite, 1995)
What my friend got for her wedding. This is a scan of an unfortunately wrinkled photocopy of the original (that was too large to fit on the scanner.)

"Reflecting" (Graphite, maybe 1996)
Unfortunately this didn't scan very well. The details in the background and the reflections in the water (no small job, I assure you,) are kinda lost. Sorry.

"Dragon" (Graphite, 1997)
For sale. Double matted in oak frame, finished size 17" x 20". Mail me for information.

(Acrylic, started in '95ish)
This is a detail from an unfinished piece that also includes a ringed planet, magical fire and a sorceress. It was inspired by a dinosaur.
