If you believe there may be an interest in starting one world in your community, here are some ideas for getting started.
First, one world may be a worldwide organization, but it is about the people of your community. This means that, no matter what, the one world chapter in your community should reflect what is important to your community. The one world chapter should take into consideration local culture when deciding on its structure, focus and activities. You understand how things will best work in your community, so create your one world chapter taking these things into consideration. If you have any further questions or would like some ideas, please contact us. We will advise as well as we can.
Second, since one world recognizes all people as members of one world, we would ask that local chapters do whatever they can to include as many people as possible. This may difficult since what usually happens is a few people end up doing most of the work. But when you think about it, making rules to keep this from happening only delays the inevitable, a few people doing most of the work. one world knows, however, that as things get going and more people understand what we are about, they will be happy to help out in some way. Also, at this point, some people may be unable to help out as much as they like. This should not disqualify them from taking part in one world. If you have specific concerns regarding membership, please contact us. We will advise as well as we can.
Third, since one world, as an organization, is in its infancy, resources are not as available right now. We are looking for funding to become a non-profit organization, which will make any donations a tax exemption for the donors. We also wish to fund the production of informational materials, a newsletter and pay for the postage of these and other correspondence. Feel free to look for funding in your community. If there is anything we can do to help, let us know. We will do our best to help you locate and receive resources.
Fourth, as a local chapter, you can focus on issues that are important to you. You may choose to assist organizations already conducting programs, or you may wish to start programs to help in a way that other organizations are not. While we encourage you to do whatever you feel, we ask that you keep in mind what one world is about. We see one world as being more of an educational and communications organization, educating people about the world and what the world has to offer spiritually, culturally and technically. If you have any suggestions or questions about this, please contact us. We will advise as well as we can.
Fifth, please do not feel that if you don't have enough people, you can't have a local chapter. It is perfectly OK if you are the only member. We will do what we can to help your local chapter grow. Let us know how we can help.
