28th March 2001 . Tuesday night saw City crash to their third defeat in four league games as they where comprehensively beaten 3-0 by Telford United at The New Bucks Head. City did start off quite brightly but against the run of play former Tranmere man Chris Malkin gave Telford the lead. A corner was floated into the City area, Malkin lost his marker with ease and nodded the ball past Wayne Brown in the City goal. Telford began to take control and soon made it two, Gez Murphy forced the ball to squirm lose from Wayne Brows fingers before the ball fell nicely to Gary Fitzpatrick who squared the ball for Steve Palmer who had an easy tap in. City came out fighting in the second half, Scott Ruscoe hit the post and Steve Whitehall forced Telford keeper Williams to make a save from point blank range. Against the run of play Telford finished the game off though, Gez Murphy brought the ball out of his own penalty box and went on a scintillating run before slotting the ball past Wayne Brown from just inside the area. City fans shouts for a foul on Martyn Lancaster during Murphy's run where to no avail and the game was effectively over. Neither side really created anything worth talking about in the last 10 minutes and City fell to yet another defeat.
