25th March 2001 . Friday night saw City pick up their first win in three league games away at Nuneaton Borough. Nuneaton took the lead in what turned out to be a very entertaining game when Shaun Wray slotted away the ball after being put clean through by former Plymouth player Jason Peake. From where I was sat Wray looked a good couple of yards off but the goal stood and it was now up to City to attack and try to get back in the game. That they did and it was only a few minutes before the blues where level, Steve Whitehall's curling shot was saved by the Boro keeper but he couldn't hold onto the ball and Mark Beesley was on hand to poke home the equaliser. The blues soon took the lead, there was a scramble in the Nuneaton six yard box and when the ball finally came out it fell kindly to Steve Whitehall who fired the ball into the net. Late in the first half Boro won a penalty when Paul Beesley handled the ball but City received a bit of justice after boro's opening goal when Jason Peakes tame penalty was saved by Brown. The second half saw City really ride their look on a pitch which was cutting up like anything but they hung on for three points to send the blues faithful home happy and to rid your memory of last weeks appalling result against Hednesford. . I apologise for the lack of updates over the last few days, my computers been playing up so this is the first time I've been online and able to update the site since Thursday last week.
