25th March,2001 . The weekends Conference games saw the title race tighten up again. Rushden and Diamonds could only manage a point from their trip to Northwich Victoria whilst Yeovil thrashed Hayes to close up on Rushden at the top. Diamonds drew 0-0 at the Drill Field, top scorer Duane Darby missed a penalty for the Diamonds who couldn't breakthrough a strong Vics defence. Yeovil won the live televised game against Hayes 3-0 at Huish Park. Jason Goodliffe set Yeovil on their way with an own goal early in the first half before Paul Steele made it two for the Glovers just before half time. In the second half Town made it three when Barrington Belgrave scored and they now have move within 5 points of Rushden with 2 games in hand. Hednesford Town's relegation fears deepened when they lost 4-2 at home to Doncaster Rovers. Hednesford had pegged Doncaster back to 2-2 in the match and where looking on for a vital point when Donny scored two goals in injury time to take the three points and move themselves up to seventh in the table. Leigh RMI kept their good form going when they beat Hereford United 2-1 on Friday night. The game was looking to be ending 1-1 when Dave Ridlings scored a dramatic last minute winner for RMI. In the other Friday night game Kettering Town's relegation fears where deepened when they where beaten 1-0 by Telford United in a game which saw 2 men sent off. Dagenham and Redbridge kept their recent good form going when they won against Morecambe. Two late goals from transfer listed Paul Cobb won the game for the daggers. In the other two games this weekend Scarborough won 1-0 at home to relegation threatened Forest Green Rovers whilst Southport's poor run on form continued when they where beaten 1-0 away at Boston United.
