2nd April,2001 . In Saturday's other FA Umbro Trophy semi final first leg Forest Green Rovers drew 2-2 with Hereford United at The Lawn. Rob Elmes put the bulls ahead on 27 minutes with a towering header from a Matt Clarke cross before Frankie Bennett equalised with a superb chip an hour later. Elmes scored his second with another header to put Hereford 2-1 ahead but a minute later Forest Green where awarded a penalty which Alex Meechan put away to send both sides to Edgar Street on level terms. In the Conference on Saturday both Rushden and Diamonds and Yeovil drew 1-1. Rushden drew with Leigh RMI at Nene Park, Jean Michel Sigere put Diamonds ahead with a goal in the first half but Tony Black equalised for Leigh to earn them a point soon after half time. Yeovil drew 1-1 with Dover Athletic, Steve Brown put Dover one nil up on 28 minutes but Yeovil salvaged a point from the game when Darren Way converted a penalty after Barrington Belgrave was brought down in the box. Mike Marsh saved Southport's blushes when he scored an injury time penalty to secure a point for Port against Northwich Victoria. Gary Burke put the visitors deservedly into the lead on 57 minutes but Mike Marsh put away his penalty in second half injury time after Mark Stuart was brought down by Vics keeper Lance Key in the area. Telford United secured their third straight league win in a row after beating Boston United 3-2 at the Bucks Head whilst Stevenage Borough got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Morecambe. In the relegation dogfight Kettering Town drew 0-0 with Doncaster Rovers whilst Hayes ended Dagenham's impressive run of victories thumping them 4-1 at Church Road. In the only other game played on Saturday Nuneaton Borough beat Kingstonian 2-1 at Manor Park. In tonight's Conference game Hednesford Town's hopes of staying in the Conference where handed a huge blow when they where thumped 4-1 at Stevenage.
