Carlino, who publishes the visitor publication Paradise News in Honolulu and is the author of The Art of Letting Go, is easy to recognize around Waikiki. He drives a gold Chrysler LeBaron convertible and the top is always down: "I've never driven with the top up, so I think we have the record. Of course it helps that I live and work in Waikiki." One of Giampolo's newspaper messages said: "The degrading and humiliating light structures on Kalakaua Avenue will be uprooted and removed, and with them a negative consciousness toward the Hawaiian people that never again will gain a foothold in this land." Today the light structures on Kalakaua Avenue are replaced by lampposts that are reminiscent of a bygone era, and there are numerous other improvements that are reflective of Waikiki's rich history and charm. ALSO...The Land of Aloha [by Publisher/Editor Carlino Giampolo of Paradise Books, Honolulu]. AND...his book The Art of Letting Go presents a clear and caring approach to those meaningful ideas and concepts which are essential to strengthening one's desire and determination to create a positive future.
