Okay, let's talk
Recycle Bin for a moment….. Queen Melosa hits the screen as Talia this time around, with Theodourous showing up again in our Xenaverse as her ever so charming husband. (At this point Perdiculous was looking pretty good to me!) Scheesh - from Amazon to Gunslinger - Was that a trade up or down? Perhaps we are trying for "the Good, the Bad, The Amazon"???? Either way - it was nice to see her back and Recycled! Speaking of which. Does anyone happen to watch that show "Jack and Jill"? I myself am not a fan, but did see someone that I swore was X:WP's very own Eli on there last episode. (I think he's the production manager of a play or something one of the characters is in??) Anywho... out of the bin, and on with AALL's
facial expressions were priceless; but I gave the "best realistically acted" acted award to ROC on this one. When Xena tells them all she's pregnant (specifically Gabby) I bought Gabby's confused and dazed reaction - what can I say? It played real for me. ROC did a great job at facial expression showing some serious tug-o-war there when Xena said there was a life within her and it was "good" (unlike the demon child of our warrior-bard the X-matic was thinking…). You could see Gabby flashing back right there (I think Xena started to get it; but once again the warrior princess has, and never will be, our spokesperson for the politically correct on the more personal issues). After that though, I thought Gabby focused on the bigger question bringing everything back to a lighter mood. Personally, I would have gone with the combo…."Here we go again with the mystery child routine. Our luck with men and friends has obviously carried over to children as well Xena. First my love life took a serious nose-dive, and now we have yet another child where one or more of the parties are in the dark about some of the crucial aspects? I have to tell you Xena, I'm getting a little sick of the whole mystery Dad, fall over a cliff or into a big hole routine; not to mention we've only been apart for a total of 26 minutes in the last 2 seasons. I guess we'll just have to cross our fingers that we won't be having those blood sacrifices, or flesh eating grandchildren - my parents are really getting annoyed about the lack of success in the family reunion area..."
I absolutely loved Xena's line:
"Gabrielle is gonna freak!" - Line of the episode for me. And Xena's "attack" on the quack doctor was great. The episode was pretty much a slapstick humor type right down to the sun dial for the high noon showdown, and Melosa's (who I refuse to call Talia) riding off on the white horse with a "Hi-Ho". I did think however that the couple of minutes where the serious sides of X&G slipped out were done well. For example: the momentary trade of expressions between X&G when Xena said she was pregnant; and the looks when Melosa mentioned she had heard Xena "had been staked out on a cross by Caesar" (who is now currently being pampered on the X:WP set - a trade upwards if you ask me).The horse thing, and Gabby's obsession with it, was a little weird - but we all know how I feel about that - so it's about time she got a horse - I'd be obsessed too if I thought there was a chance I could get rid of my Norda-Greek 2000. (If you have no clue what I'm talking about....

I guess someone finally noticed that even the basket weaver located at the far corner of each town X & G passed through was able to do flip kicks and punches when fighting - but the Amazon Queen just hadn't gotten the hang of it yet... Thank the gods! Perhaps there is hope for more flips in the future X:WP ????????????
All in all another good episode - but am going to stick with
Succession as my favorite so far (A certain god of war all decked out in leather most certainly plays a huge part in this decision). Am definitely looking forward to Them Bones, Them Bones - I'm betting that Alti will give us another great performance (Between the Lines was one of my favorites last season, along with AITST) - and I am really looking forward to seeing her run into the new Gabby - let's be honest - she was the first to really see how powerful Gabby was - gotta love her - sharp lady!
