To continue the noble tradition in Punjab Medical College, Islami Jamiat Talaba arranged a Book Fair in
collaboration with college authorities. It was held on 17th 18th & 19th of December. Inauguration ceremony was held on 17th
December 2002 at 10a.m. by Deputy Dean PMC, Prof.Dr. A.G.REHAN.
During 3 days of the exhibition of books & computers, thousands of students and doctors visited the Book fair.This time upto
50% discount was given on medical as well as islamic books. This gives a golden opportunity
to the students & doctors to make a choice of good books & save their money as well.
Along with books there were a large number of computers CDs and Refreshment stalls which attracted crowds throughout &
large number of students remained busy with refreshments & computer exhibitions.
On 19th of December Closing ceremony of the Book fair was held at College Auditorium which was Presided by the Deputy
Dean PMC. Prof.Dr.A.G. Rehan. On the occasion, Mohammad Irfan of 4th year & Umair of Final year acted as Stage
Secretaries. Students were awarded Surprise gifts & Grand prize was awarded to 4th year, the winner of Al-Baddar Flood
light Cricket Tournament.
On the occasion, Chief guest said that these healthy traditions should be continued in the better interest of students. He also
announced that a Computer lab is soon inaugurated which will have Computer cafe also for the students.
He congratulated Nazim Islami Jamiat e Talaba, Mr. Khalid Mahmood for organizing a healthy &
positive activity.
In the end, Mr. Khalid Mahmood Nazim Islami Jamiat e talaba in his brief address said that main objective behind these type of
activities is to spread knowledge which is according to the teachings of ALLAH & his prophet MOHAMMAD (PBUH).

With the objective of creating creativity of mind in the students & the power to express themselves with confidence, an Urdu
debate competition was held in the Auditorium of Rawalpindi Medical college. Topic of debate was,
" Kehtay Hain Jisay Ishq Khalul Hai Damag Ka ".
Imminent Poet & Philosopher, Iftikhar Arif was the Chief guest on the occasion while Chief Organizer, Dr.M. Mubarik Malik,
Deputy Dean Rawalpindi Medical College was also present.
Mr. Bilal Shamsi of 4th year acted as Commentator. Students in great number spoke for more than two hours in favour &
against the topic & delivered some very good speeches. The attendants of the ceremony were convinced of the expression of
the students.
Usman Manzoor of 4th year won the first prize when he spoke in favour of the title. While
Naila Usmani of 2nd year won second prize talking against the topic.
In the end, prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest & Deputy Dean RMC.
Poet Iftikhar Ahmad while talking on the occasion stressed on the need of such occasions more frequently as it motivates the
students to think, deliver & read books.

Proceedings
One day prior to the conference, Registration of the new members was concluded. Opening ceremony was done by Chief
Guest Surgeon General Karamat A. Karamat. Chief guest alongwith delegates from all over Pakistan visited all the stalls and
appreciated the efforts of the members to make the occasion a success. After that various Pathologists presented their research
articles in Hall A which were highly informative and were appreciated. Chief guest then visited Hall B which was specified for
Haematological presentations.
Stalls in the conference were arranged by various national & multinational phamaceutical companies who introduced their new
and established products. At the end of the day, various prizes were awarded for Poster presentation, Pathological
presentations, Haematological presentations, Best activities & Research activities.

A healthy academic tradition of last 11 years, Pathology Trophy arranged by Prof.Dr.Janbaz Ahmad Head Pathology
Department Punjab Medical College Faisalabad was held on December 19th this year in the college Auditorium. Maj.Gen.(R)
Dr.Abdul Ghafoor Shah, Principal Executive Officer, Allied/PMC/DHQ was the Chief Guest & Deputy Dean PMC,
Prof.Dr.A.G.Rehan was the guest of honour.
Dr.Ahsan acted as Stage Secretary & worthy guests from all departments attended the occasion. In their brief speeches,
speakers acclaimed the efforts of Pathology department to promote the academic activities in the students.
Prof.Dr.Riaz Hussain Dab awarded prizes to new 4th year.
Best attendance award went to Mohammad Irfan . Topper of first Pathology test was Naila Chaudhry & Maria Yousaf.
Topper of 2nd Pathology test was Ayesha Anwar.
Deputy Dean PMC, Prof.Dr.A.G.Rehan awarded prizes on Poster competition in new 4th year class.
First prize went to Saeeda & Ayesha. Second prize winner was Roohi & 3rd in position was Amna Ashraf. Consolation prizes were awarded to
Ayesha, Salma Hameed & Affaaf Ilyas.
For PATHOLOGY TROPHY top 20 students were selected on their annual performance from the outgoing 4th year class &
they were:

On January 19th 2002, Mr Salim
Shahid (Regional Sales Manager) of gsk pharmaceuticals alongwith his team
members arranged an auspicious get together in the honour of section heads of
emed and other prominent physicians of the city at Serena Hotel Faisalabad.

The function was very well
attended by the doctors among which prominent were, Associate Prof. Dr Tufail
Mohammad and various consultant doctors as Dr Sajid Sheikh, Dr Hina Ayesha, Dr
Zahid Nagra, Dr Amer Ali Chaudhry, Dr Sohail Jami, Dr Faiza Sohail Jami, Dr
Babar Rafique, Dr Zahid Masood Khan, Dr Khurram Sohail Raja and numerous other
prominent physicians of Faisalabad as Dr Khalid Rasool (Friends Corporation), Dr
Qamar ul Haque, Dr Asif Ghouri, Dr Ijaz Anwar, Dr Sameera Bazli and many others.
After his welcoming address and
introductory statement on ZANTAC, Mr Salim Shahid handed over the stage to Dr
Khurram Raja who with the help of multi-media displayed the emed web-site to all
the audience explaining all the specialised sections, other regular features and
aims and objectives of the first medical portal in Faisalabad.
Audience showed great interest in
this new technology and termed the site as the need of the hour. The display
followed by a very well arranged lunch. It was well organized and well sponsored
function for which emed appreciates the efforts of Mr Salim Shahid who
co-operates and collaborates well with the medical circles.

Convocation is a milestone in the life of a Medical
graduate, who after the hard work of 5 years is granted the degree of M.B.B.S.
Its a day when he takes the oath of serving the humanity and steps into the
practical life.
Convocation 2000 of Punjab Medical College Faisalabad was held on 15.11.2001.
Graduates of 3 years, 1997, 1998 and 1999 were granted degrees. Prof. ® Hayyat
Zafar, President Pakistan Medical and Dental Council graced the occasion.
For the last 4 years this Institution has shown its strong presence both in
the field of Academics and extra-curricular activities. Its notable here that
one of its graduates scored highest marks in Final Prof. MBBS in 1999. Moreover,
one of its graduates scored 99% in USMLE exam 2000 which clearly reflects the
training of the graduate.
Graduates of PMC are successfully serving far and wide, inside and outside
the country especially USA, UK, Canada, Australia and Mid-east countries.
Principal, administration and organising committee of the convocation needs to
be appreciated for this successful event. Upcoming events of PMC include
colourful sports week, lively literary week and Health awareness programme.
