Its a story of how my bestest friend and mistress got together.
They got to know each other all by coincidence. They were both at home surfing the internet and downloading songs from a facility called Napster which used to be a free mp3 down loader. As my mistress has a vast collection of mp3s in her computer, other users often download songs from her. That was in June 2000. She was using 56K dial-up then so if they download from her, it will affect her downloading speed from other users. So one day night, my bestest friend was looking for an oldie song. Unfortunately, only my mistress happened to have that song. So he had no choice but to download from her. Over at my mistress home, she was sitting in from of her computer and saw that there's an idiot trying to download from her. Normally, she will only let the download continue is the other person request from her. However, that idiot didn't so she stop the download each time he tried. This happened so many times that my bestest friend got so fed up. He messaged her through Napster asking her why she kept refusing him from downloading the song. So this is how they got acquainted.
When my bestest friend found out that he was talking to a girl, he continue to chat with her. As they chatted, they exchanged email address. My mistress never thought that he would actually e-mail her. So since then they communicated through email. Through email, they got to know each other better.
They had exchanged some emails and my bestest friend offered his contact nos. to her. So in reply my mistress gave him her contact nos. As again, my mistress never thought that he would call her or message and stuff like that. But he did. During that time around September 2000, my bestest friend was still serving his NS. Then my bestest friend went to Australia for military exercise and after he return to Singapore, he asked my mistress out. It was on 16 November 2000 a Friday. They arranged to meet at 7pm at Jurong East Mrt station control. As my mistress stays very far from there, it is near impossible for her to meet that idiot if not for that day she had a lesson near Buona Vista Mrt. So she agreed to meet. What a coincidence again.
When they met, they went to McDonald's and shared a meal. After which, they visited a CD shop before going to the bowling alley upstairs to watch the league. As my mistress got bored at watching the bowling league, they went to Fuji ice palace which is just next door. Then they heard the song. "Dreaming of you". Then they do not know what is the song title but the song captivated both of them so much that it was made their song of love later on. Its getting late and my mistress stays so far away. So she decide to go home. The idiot sent her home that day and before she went in, he asked a very unconventional and stupid question. That is "see you online tonight okay ?" Normally a romantic question is "Did you enjoy the night out with me? Because I did and hope to see you more often."
Later that night, bestest friend messaged my mistress. He asked her about her impression of him. After all, they just communicated through emails and sms. So in reply to that, my mistress ask him the same question. Only after he replied, then my mistress told him her impression of him. He said he found her bubbly and adorable. She found him shy and quiet, a nice guy though. Then came the question. He said," I like you very much. Will you be my girlfriend?" That came as a shock to my mistress. She never expected a reply like that. She was dumbfounded at that moment. Will she agree? My bestest friend on the other hand was thinking. My mistress didn't want to get into a relationship at first. So she told him, that they should take it slow as they haven't really know each other that long. He said that maybe she could give him a chance and try things out. My mistress thought it over and she agree to try it out by giving him a chance. That was how they started out on the 17th November 2000.
Looking back, it seems like just yesterday but things happened. Their relationship is still going strong and it have been almost 2 years. Naturally, in a relationship, there are bound to be ups and downs. Theirs wasn't a bed of roses either. They do have their share of fights and quarrels.
There was once when they quarreled very badly during the beginning of their relationship. That time, their relationship was really on the rocks. They were almost on the verge of breaking up. That happen in March 2001.
My bestest friend has some very irritating habits which my mistress found out soon enough. He is lazy like most people and messy too. When my mistress went to his house for the first time, she complain to him why his room is so messy. She did try to get him to pack up. However each time he packed his room, it will be in a mess in no time. Well, I shan't say too much of these otherwise, I'll get bashed up by him!
He can be the sweetest guy on Earth too. He would wait for her to finish school everyday before his school reopen. He would sit at the bench outside her lecture theatre or near her tutorial class room and wait for her for hours. The hours are especially grueling this way, moreover, on Mondays, my mistress' lessons end at 6.30pm. So he would wait for her till 6.30pm after accompanying her to lunch during her break at 1.30pm. So you can imagine how long he had to wait. He never fails to remember their anniversaries too. He would buy her little gifts to cheer her up when she's down or to encourage her in her work. Her collection of gifts includes me and the 2 forever friends bears, a forever friends watch, a pooh bear watch, etc, just naming a few. The forever friends watch was her birthday present. It's purpose was to make my mistress be a little less late in the future, although it didn't quite serve it's purpose well.
Once, she told him that she had always wanted a doll house of her own when she was a kid. He immediately when to got her one. The house is now sitting atop its box in her room, with a happy Sylvanian family living in it.
My mistress too can be irritating at times. She is always likes to disturb him whenever he's sleeping. Her reason is that he shouldn't be sleeping when its the middle of a nice sunny day. That would make him so mad. They fought over this a few times too. She can be also very nice and caring too. For instance she will hurry out of the classroom after each lesson to meet my bestest friend. She will also buy lots and lots of things that my bestest friend crave but cannot afford. She will try to accommodate her busy schedule to my bestest friend lifestyle. She has now changed to be a more punctual person but still do not tolerate waiting for anyone including my bestest friend. She rather people wait for her than she wait for people.
She is very childish in her thinking cannot resist cute stuff especially Winnie the Pooh things. She is very willing to spend money on food. So my bestest friend will sometimes suggest eating cheaper food and spend the money on toys and magazines instead. My bestest friend dislikes eating sushi before getting aquatinted with my mistress but now he likes to eat them and often patronize Sakae Sushi outlets. However, he still doesn't eat seaweed.
In July 2002 he went to NTU to study. My mistress was staying in Hall 9 then and so they will often go to the hall canteen for dinner. During that time, she was staying with her best friend. Her best friend often complain why he is always around.
During the mid May holiday 2002 they went to work part time as sales promoter. They have lots of fun working together and did a road show at Takashimaya during one weekend. They stood for a total of 13 hours for the both of two days and though it was very tiring they were happy because of the money earned and the enjoyment of working together.
They spent most of their time together, even though now bestest friend is no longer studying in NTU. They are still able to meet up everyday, be it my mistress go over to his house for dinner or she go to his school to wait for him. Since they spend so much time together, they tend to neglect the people around them like their friends. As a result, my mistress found herself and her best friends drifting apart, which was inevitable. I guess that's the down side of being in a relationship like theirs.
I often wonder how long will they last with their constant squabbles that would last for a few days although people around them wouldn't know that they are quarrelling. But look! Their relationship is still surviving. My mistress is a very insecure person. She always needs a lot of assurance from my bestest friend. Although he does not always whisper sweet nothings to her, but when he does, it will always effectively pacify her. She loves the way he pampers her and showers her with his love. My bestest friend has the most amazing tolerance level. My mistress is easy to please and pacify however, she can be very possessive and unreasonable. This perhaps has something to do with her background. She fears losing things that are important to her. My bestest friend is surprisingly able to tolerate her possessiveness and her unreasonableness.
Every time they quarrel, my mistress will confide in me. Then I'll get drench in the 'rain' of tears. Oh that's a bad feeling I tell you. And don't catch my mistress when she is feeling down. You will bound to get some scolding or anything for no rhyme or reason. My bestest friend often is a victim of that. However, my bestest friend is always good at pacifying her and perking her up.
Nearly 2 years of being together, they are enjoying their relationship even though they squabble and stuff. Their bond with each other is strong. They have gone through an ordeal[ I'm not telling you the details.. heh heh ] , which nearly broke them up. They have survived it and came such a long way. My bestest friend said that he wants to marry my mistress few years down the road. Wow.. I just can't wait for that time to come, so I can live with both my mistress and bestest friend under the same roof. [How nice right?]
