Well, I don’t really know how to respond to this. Maybe it’s because they think that Africa is a more primitive country than the U.S., but how long have we been around compared to how long they’ve been around. Maybe they’re not as advanced as us, but look how long they’ve been around, and they are still around today. So, they might be segregated because of the country they are from.

I think African Americans are segregated because they’re African Americans. I hate how everyone is still so racist against each other. Like Brook said, they’ve been around for quite a long time. I also heard that the oldest fossils are found in Africa. So think about that. We might all be descended from Africans. That would definitely not make sense that we are against each other if we are from the same people. We all bleed red blood so does it really matter? For all the things that Africans have been through, how far their descendants have come in this age like African Americans holding positions of office and owning their own businesses, they are still segregated. I think it’s because somewhere deep down in the back of their mind, people might still think of them as workers and slaves. Some African Americans are still mad at the white population for their white ancestors’ wrongdoings. I think that everyone should realize that we’re all humans and should all get along.

African Americans are segregated because they call themselves AFRICAN Americans. If they'd just call themselves American, the world might go 'round just a little bit easier.

Are African Americans segregated? Hmm…let me think…yeah. Duh? *laugh* I don’t understand why, though. This country is so divided by racism and everything. We are all equal, why can’t people realize that? I believe it says that in the Declaration of Independence. But we still continue to treat African Americans like second class, you would think that after all these years of struggle everything would be right now. Sure it’s better than like the 60’s, but we still kill people because of the color of their skin. I’m not just saying there is racism against African Americans, it’s coming from both sides, both black and white. But the racism against African Americans is a bigger issue. Why there is so much hate in the world, I don’t know. It’s sad. Which brings me to a point that I once heard from Sinbad when he was doing stand-up comedy on HBO. He said he hated when white people say, “Go back to your own country” to African Americans. He also said, “You go back to your own country too, you aren’t originally from here either, this land belongs to the Indians.” *laugh* It’s a very good point though. When the segregation is going to stop, I don’t know. Hopefully one day it will be over. But that is still remained to be seen. I don’t think there would be a better closing to my little story, than to end it with a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

”I have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up to the true meaning of its creed, that all men are created equal.”
One day that dream will come true, we will live as one.
