Date:THE PRESENT Location: OLD FORT MIFFLIN- Philadelphia **=sound fx

According to executive director Dori McMunn, there are several ghosts that inhabit the old Fort, many of the tour guides, tourists and even the children from the tour groups have seen or experienced strange happenings while working or visiting.

THE SCREAMING WOMAN

Perhaps none is more famous than the screaming woman

**, many children from school groups have reported seeing a woman in the second floor window of the officers quarters, at night this entity screams, on one occassion the Philadelphia police were called out to the Fort to investigate these screams, it is thought that this ghost is Elizabeth Pratt who is crying for her daughter, at the time of her death they were estranged.

THE FACELESS MAN

Many people have reported seeing a man sitting in a corner of a bunker type structure that are along the defense walls, he is just sitting there wearing a hat sewing a garment when he looks up at you he is faceless.

THE BLACKSMITH

During the civil war there was a horse stable in the fort manned by a gent named Jacob Sauer, people have reported seeing him stand by the doors of the stable and to also hearing his iron hammer

** hitting the metal anvil, often the door to the stable opens and shuts by itself!

.

THE GHOSTLY GUIDE

Dori McMunn tells a story of a tourist gushing praise for a guide in a civil war uniform who gave a tour of the "dungeons", there was no guide who worked there that day who wore a civil war uniform or who resembled the man that the woman described. There are many other ghosts at Fort Mifflin such as one called "Edward" who likes to open and close desk drawers

**, or the "Captain" who still inspects his troops. Hmmmm...... maybe a ghostly brigade still protects the port of Philadelphia!
