Wilber Jones was born and raised in Grove
City, PA and was educated in the public schools of that
town, graduating from Grove City High School in 1958. He then
continued his education at
Westminster College, earning
a B.S. in chemistry in 1962. Dr. Jones and the former Carolee Paul
married in 1962 and they moved to Knoxville, TN where he attended graduate
school in chemistry
at The University of Tennessee.
Dr. Jones earned a Ph.D. in chemistry
at U-T under the direction
of Dr. William Bull. He then began his teaching career in 1966
at Concord College, Athens, WV.
He is now Professor of Chemistry and a former 20-year chairman of the
Department of Physical
Sciences. His interests include riding his BMW
R1150RT motorcycle, playing golf, travel,
attending NASCAR races, and reading
anything by Jan Karon, Tony Hillerman, Margaret Coel,
or Sarah Andrews.
