According
to reports, several relatives of the deceased accompanied by Police Officers
and staff of the funeral home, left Charity around 3:00 hrs Friday morning for
the Waini Sea Coast to recover the bodies.
Reports
said the badly decomposed bodies of
Kamala Gyandat 49, also known as Leela, of
Enterprise, East Coast and
Nizam Baksh
of Caledonia, Wakenaam Island,
Essequibo River, were recovered from shallow graves among the shells on the
Waini Beach in the North West District.
Reports
said the vessel in which Gyandat and four other persons were retuning to
Guyana from Venezuela last week sank when fierce waves tore it to bits minutes
after its 75-horsepower engine broke down on becoming entangled in a seine in
the Atlantic Ocean.
The
bodies of Carlos Dyal and Ricardo Dyal were not recovered from the beach
because their graves were not located.
Carlos
and Ricardo were also travelling with their grandfather Nizam on the ill-fated
boat when tragedy struck last Thursday night.
Relatives
are calling on the Minister of Home Affairs, and Commissioner of Police to
speed up investigations into the death of the victims. Relatives said they are
not satisfied with the explanations given by the Captain of the boat and
another sailor concerning the deaths of their loved ones.
For the
past five years, many Guyanese have lost their lives in the Iron Punt Area
while coming back to their homeland from Venezuela. No one has ever died while
going to Venezuela.
