Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council (COIC) provide alternative education for grades 9-12. COIC has locations in Bend, Redmond, Prineville, Madras and LaPine which offer basic education in small classrooms with individualized instruction. Students can make up credits, earn a GED through the GED prep program, and serve the community through the Work Crew projects.
For more information, please visit the COIC website.
The Web Design class is offered as an elective to students who are in 10-12th grades. It is a 9-week course in basic HTML design. Students must first prepare a proposal to the teacher, and receive approval before beginning actual design and code. Students learn the basics of HTML coding, as well as how to evaluate a web site, adding sound to web pages, and where to go if they want additional instruction in advanced HTML.
The class is taught by Debra Mills, a student teacher in the Eastern OR CUESTE Teacher Prep Program, located on the COCC campus. Ms. Mills is a professional web designer turned educator. She will receive her Initial Teaching license in the summer of 2002.
