IMPORTANT:

In the past, one of our guild shops received a warning from Neopets about holding contests. As a result the Guild Council decided that some changes were necessary to safeguard the guild. As part of these changes, all activities were renamed to avoid the term contest and this page was renamed the "Activities" page. Contests will mostly be referred to by their names or by using the term "Activity". Please do not use the terms "contest", "winners", or "prizes" on the guild message board when referring to these activities. Thanks for understanding!

Click a link for more information about each activity.
Please note: You may only take part in these activities from one account, even if you have multiple accounts that are members of the guild.

All the old activities will be added to an Archive soon.

Kitchen's Yummy Neggs

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _       _ _ _ _ _ _

_ _ _ _       _ _ _ _       _        _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _       _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Here are the directions:

Find 31 Neggs (minus the word Negg or Easter Negg) and circle them, draw a line through them or whatever you wish to help you keep track of what you have found. If a negg's name was something like Dancing Daisy Easter Negg it would be in the puzzle like this DANCINGDAISY (don't look for this one, it isn't in the puzzle, hehe.)
After you have found all 31 neggs there will be letters remaining that have not been used in any negg names.
Place the letters, in order, on the lines below the word search.
This will give you a clue as to the secret negg name that you should email us with.

**You can also see the wordsearch at Chef_ Bob's Petpage!**

Here you have some more clues:

26 Neggs are Gourmet Foods.
1 is retired with a rarity of 180 and worth 50 points at the neggery.
1 is a magical negg that is very powerful, but you can never tell what it will do to your pet, so be careful!
1 negg naturally grows with a pattern of black and white swirls on its skin.
1 negg is always cold.
And the last negg is super colorful and will cheer up even the most miserable neopet!

We have baskets full of yummy goodies for 3 randomly picked participants (from those who send in the correct secret negg name) and each participant will receive a little treat just for participating. You must be in the ~Guild of Booklovers~ for at least a week and in good standing at the time you submit your entry and winners are announced. Submit the answer via neomail to booklovers_kitchen.

Important: As a subject line for your neomail, please use “Yummy Neggs”. DO NOT use the word "contest" anywhere in your neomail!

Activity Closes: 11:59 pm NST, April 28, 2006

RULES!!
  • Write an original work of poetry that mentions Quigglets orQuiggles in general or TimmyDimplePots (also known as Lord Timmy ofDimplePots) specifically.

  • There will be a featured style of poetry for the activity and that style must be followed for consideration. For example, an Ode, a Limerick, a Haiku, etc.
  • Submit the poem via neomail to agravegal by the stated deadline. As is commonly known, please do not mention the word contest ANYWHERE within your entry.

  • Three finalists will be selected from the submissions

  • Once the three finalists are selected they will be posted on PixieDustTinkerTot's pet page

  • Members can vote on their favorite poem by neomailing agravegal - Hey! American Idol style!!

  • The author's name will not be included with the poems and will be held in the utmost secrecy. If an author tells which poem is his/hers then that poem will be disqualified

  • The GOBL Poetry Idol will win his/her item of choice valued at 50,000 neopoints

  • Gifts will also be awarded to the other two top finalists AND two random voters!

This round, please write an Haiku.
Haiku is an unrhymed Japanese verse consisting of three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables (5, 7, 5) or 17 syllables in all. Haiku is usually written in the present tense and focuses on nature or seasons. (HOWEVER for this haiku, you should focus on the great and wonderful Quigglets!)

Entries must be received by 11:59(NST) on Saturday April 15.

Avatar Pets

Michelle, Steve, Troy and Vicky each decided to purchase a paint brush and paint their pets colours to earn an avatar. Can you figure out which brush (Grey, Orange, Pink or Snow) each used, and the pet species they used them on (Cybunny, Grundo, Koi, or Kougra)?

Try to solve the puzzle using these clues:
  • The four players are: 1) Michelle, 2) the one who painted a Koi, 3) Troy, and 4) the one who painted a pet Grey.

  • Of course, the player who bought the Orange Paint Brush used it on a Grundo.

  • There are no Snow Kougras, nor Snow Koi.

  • Troy painted the Cybunny; Steve used the Grey Paint Brush.

You may also find this ready-made logic grid helpful in solving the puzzle. (If you can't view this PDF file, you may need to download the free Adobe Reader program, which is available here.)
And for all those that find the general idea of logic puzzles difficult, here is a general describtion

Good luck to all participants :)
Submit answers and questions or comments to techservlib.

Last puzzle solution:
Adam planned to read 5 books, but was distracted by his nephew.
Jeff hoped to read 2 books, but caught up on his sleep instead.
Karen spent her vacation watching DVDs, instead of reading 3 books.
Sarah set up a wireless network for her sister, instead of reading 6 books

Last puzzles lucky participants were ldybadger, ladoora, and micacamcam

Poetry Challenge

Welcome to the Booklovers’ Guild's Poetry Challenge. Every two weeks (or so) we will be posting some lines of a poem. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to track down the title of the poem and the poet's name and neomail your answer to the appropriate person. We will then select the reigning poetry champions at random from those who submit the correct answer before the start of the next round. Enjoy! :)

Important: As a subject line for your neomail, please use "Poetry" and make the content of your message "Poem Title, Poet" (where Poem Title is the title of the poem and Poet is the name of the poet who wrote that week's poem). DO NOT use the word "contest" anywhere in your neomail!

This Week’s Citation:

I love thee to the depth and
breadth and height

My soul can reach, when feeling
out of sight

For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.

I love thee to the level of everyday's

Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.

Good luck to all the participants!

Challenge Closes: 11:59 pm NST, February 25, 2006

Previous Answer:

He lifts the old unconscious woman from the floor and
places her back on her bed. He reaches
for her quilt and covers her body.

This is "The Healing Quilt" by E. Ethelbert Miller.

Our lucky gift recipients are rjmc8888, laran100741166 & kewlpersonatneo!

Thanks to all who participated, good luck for the next one!

The Rules:

1) You must be a guild member.

2) Neomail your guesses to ka_crow before the date posted above.

3) Please refrain from posting your answer on the message board.

4) Winners will be selected at random from the correct answers received. Correct answers are those that include both the name of the poem and the poet. Answers that do not include specifically this information will not be eligible for the prize.

5) Prizes are awarded through trades. Winners will be notified of their win and asked to create a junk item trade and the prize (items/NP, approx. value 10K NP) will be bid on that item.
