ANTHONY “TONY”
CRIVELLO completed shooting on Madonna’s Maverick Films “MATERIAL
GIRLS” starring Hilary & Hailey Duff, Angelica Houston & directed by
Martha Coolidge (2006 release). He also shot “TRADE” in Jan.
2006 for director Marco Kreuzpaintner, produced by Roland Emmerich and
starring Kevin Kline (Lions Gate Films).
Additional

Steve Miner’s “TEXAS RANGERS,” Jim Abrahams’ comedy “Jane

Mr. Crivello also
starred in Gil Wadsworth’s dark comedy “THE GLASS JAR” (Official
Selection: 1999-2000/ N.Y. Intl. Independent, DGA Finders Series, an 11
other Film Festivals) as well as director Will Wallace’s independent
comedy “SPANISH FLY” (Santa Monica and Winner: ‘Best Comedy
Feature’ 2003 Dallas’ Deep Ellum Film Festival) and the short “PETAL
OF A ROSE.”
On
TELEVISION, Crivello co-starred in director Ron Krauss’ “ALIEN
HUNTER” opposite James Spader, John Lynch, Roy Dotrice & Leslie
Stefanson for Sony Films and the Sci-Fi Channel. He also co-starred in
the Tele-films “DILLINGER AND CAPONE” (Mystfest 95, ITALY) with
Martin Sheen and F. Murray Abraham in the title roles, director Ted
Demme’s “THE BET” for HBO, ABC/Disney’s “GEPPETTO” with
Drew Carey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Rene Auberjonis, “THE GLASS CAGE”
with Eric Roberts, “ALIEN AVENGERS” with George Wendt, “STAR
PORTAL,” “MONSTER MASH/ FRANKENSTEIN SINGS!,” “RUNNING
WOMAN,” “919 FIFTH AVE.,” “HIDDEN AGENDA,” director
John Gray’s “THE LOST CAPONE” and director Rob Iscove’s “MURDER
IN BLACK AND WHITE.”
He has
guest-starred on CBS’s CSI: NY, NBC’s “FRASIER” opposite
Kelsey Grammer & company, “IN-LAWS” opposite Dennis Farina,
Jean Smart & Elon Gold, the acclaimed comedy “SEINFELD,” “NORMAL,
OHIO” with John Goodman, “STAR TREK: VOYAGER,” “BABYLON 5,”
“MIAMI V ICE” and “LAW AND ORDER.”
Mr. Crivello began
his television career on the daytime series “ONE LIFE TO LIVE.”
Anthony can also be seen on the PBS Special “LES MISERABLES IN
CONCERT: Live from London’s Royal Albert Hall.”
Mr. Crivello has
co-written a comedic screenplay, based on a story he conceived entitled
“A TON OF SALT”.
Additionally, he is working on two musicals/Opera for the stage: the
drama “2B CAESAR”
and comedy “ENG:
FANTASY 101” as well as the sitcom “THE CHICKEN BROTHERS”
with partners Writer/ Producer Mike Larsen {“WHOOPIE”} and director
Bobby Sheehan {“REPOMEN: STEALING FOR A LIVING,” “SEED”.}
Mr. Crivello has
written copy for NEWSWEEK Magazine, wrote and directed segments for
Mandalay Film and Television’s “EVERYDAY HEROES” and over
twenty songs including “LOVE IS WORTH IT IF TOGETHER WE’VE CRIED”
heard on the soundtrack to the film “MIDNIGHT BLUE.” He can also be
heard singing Schubert’s “AVE MARIA” on the soundtrack for “THE
GLASS JAR..”
A product of
Milwaukee’s inner core, his artistic journey traveled by way of Chicago
to New York City where he won a 1993 TONY AWARD for ‘ Best
Supporting Actor in a Musical’ as the original ‘ Valentine’ in Kanter
and Ebb’s “KISS OF THE SPIDERWOMAN” at the Broadhurst Theater
(and Shaftesbury Theater in London) directed by Hal Prince. During
the show’s pre-Broadway run, Mr. Crivello also received the Canadian
stage honor of a DORA MAVOR MOORE Nomination.
In 1997, he
received a second DORA Nomination for the pre-Broadway production
of “JANE EYRE” at the Royal Alexander Theater in Toronto. In
1996, Mr. Crivello won the JOSEPH JEFFERSON AWARD for ‘Best
Leading Actor in a Musical’ for the production of “THE HOUSE OF
MARTIN GUERRE” at the Goodman Theater in Chicago, directed by David
Petrarca.
In 1985, he won
the CARBONELL AWARD for Best Supporting Actor in the Broadway
Musical “THE NEWS”. He also starred in Chicago and on Broadway in
“EVITA” for Hal Prince, “LES MISERABLES” and in “MEASURE
FOR MEASURE” at Lincoln Center.
In 1999, Mr.
Crivello starred opposite Audra McDonald in the World Premiere Broadway
production of
“MARIE
CHRISTINE,” also at Lincoln Center, directed by Graciela Daniele.
(Anthony was nominated for a ‘FRIENDS OF NEW YORK THEATER AWARD’
as ‘Outstanding Leading Actor in a Musical’ for his portrayal of ‘Dante
Keyes’ for that production.)
In July 2000, Tony
starred in the West Coast premiere of Lisa Loomer’s new comedy “EXPECTING
ISABEL” at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. The following year
he starred in David Lee’s Production of
“DO I HEAR A
WALTZ” at the Pasadena Playhouse, for which he received a 2001 LA
OVATION AWARD Nomination, a GARLAND AWARD Nom., a ROBBY
AWARD Nom. and a LA DRAMA CRITICS Nom.
In 2003 he
performed the role of Guiseppi Zangara in Stephen Sondheim’s “ASSASSINS”
for the Broadway Reprise/LA Series and starred as ‘the Caliph’ in “KISMET”
opposite Len Cariou in Jan., 2004 for Broadway Reprise/LA directed by
Arthur Allen Seidelman. Additionally in Aug., 2003 he starred as French
painter Eugene Delacroix in “ROMANTIQUE” for Boston’s American
Repertory Theater.
Mr. Crivello has
acted in over 50 plays across the country in major regional theaters as
well as in London and Canada.
Tony has also
performed comedic improv at 2nd CITY in Chicago as
well as CHICAGO CITY LIMITS and THE NEW YORK IMPROV SQUAD
from 1984-93’.
In the early summer
of 2004 he received critical praise for his comedic portrayal of
“Franklin Angelo ‘The Cat’ Luigi Versati, the Second...(Sorry, the
Third!)” working with the talented film star Steve Martin on his
wonderful stage comedy “THE UNDERPANTS” at The Geffen Playhouse,
directed by Tony Award winner John Rando (“Urinetown”).
In June, 2004, Mr.
Crivello workshopped Oscar Hujillio’s “ THE MAMBO KINGS” in
NYC, portraying the lead role of ‘CESAR’ (Armand Assante’s role in the
film ) directed by Arne Glimcher (The films “THE MAMBO KINGS” and
“GORILLAS IN THE MIDST”)
In November, 2004,
Mr.Crivello workshopped a new musical based on the E.M. Forster’s novel
& film “A ROOM WITH A VIEW” directed by Christopher Renshaw.
In Jan. 2005
Anthony work-shopped an exciting flamenco musical-Eduardo Machado &
Lynne Taylor-Corbett’s
“DEEP SONG” set in Franco’s
fascist Spain, and presented at INTAR in NYC.
He starred as Det.
Raul Suarez in The Rubicon Theater‘s production of Mark Stein’s new play
“ MATING DANCE OF THE WEREWOLF” in May, 2005.
In Aug., 2005,
Mr. Crivello gained critical praise with the role o f Councilor
Kamarovsky (Portrayed by Rod Steiger in the film) in The La Jolla
Playhouse’s workshop production of “ZHIVAGO” (directed by Des
McAnuff, Music: Lucy Simon, Lyrics: Michael Korie & Amy Powers, Book:
Michael Weller.).
In March, 2006 he
received critical praise for his comical portrayal of ‘Don Carlos
Homenides de Histangua’ in David Ives translation of the French farce “A
FLEA IN HER EAR” at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater (Directed by
Gary Griffin)…
AND FINALLY… in
June 2006, Mr. Crivello will don the Mask as’ The Phantom’ in Hal
Prince’s re-conception of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “ THE PHANTOM OF
THE OPERA” at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.

original company of “DO BLACK PATENT LEATHER SHOES REALLY RELFLECT UP?”
directed by Mike Nussbaum.

Mr.
Crivello is an Honored Member of Marquette University’s ‘CENTURY OF
SCHOLARSHIP.’
He was the 2003
recipient of Marquette University’s College of Speech & Communications
distinguished “COMMUNICATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD.” He is listed in ‘WHO’S
WHO IN AMERICA’, is an outstanding member of the Thomas More High School
Alumni Hall of Fame, and owns stock with the NFL’s Green Bay Packers.

moonlighted as a ring announcer & commentator for ESPN2’s Kickboxing
Championships.]
