The SCD Diet

The SCD Diet is "The Specific Carbohydrate Diet". In this diet most carbohydrates are prohibited. This includes all grains, sugar and potatoes. Of course no grains means no cereal, pasta, rice or bread. This aspect of the diet is probably a turn off to most people. I know it was to me. It is difficult to not be able to even get a sandwich, let alone pasta dish or french fries. As I mentioned in my history page, it took me several months to actually start the diet after buying the book. I am glad now that I did. I am used to not being able to have what everyone else it having now. Though eating at other people's houses is still somewhat of a challenge, I find that most people are very understanding.

I reccomend reading the book (Breaking the Vicious Cycle) to get all the technical aspects of the diet. The book as detailed lists of allowed and not allowed foods, as well as several chapters on the digestive system and the theories behind why the diet works. There are also several recipes included in the back of the book.
