Innocence Lost

Everyday she wonders more and more how she got into this mess
There love was supposed to last forever, only time was the test
It was revealed to her as the weeks went by and she cried herself to sleep
That she shouldn't have given all that she had, for their love it wasn't that deep
She remembers that night and the way she felt as she gave her innocence away
Now she sits by herself, all alone, she didn't realize there was a price to pay
He told her this wouldn't hurt their love, but only make it stronger
So she threw away all that she had for a love that is no longer
When she walks down the halls she knows it's all there, the whispers and the glances
She wishes now she could take it all back but there are no second chances
She sees him everyday and now he's with sombody new
Doesn't he understand all the pain he's putting her through
No he probably doesn't and he probably never will
To him she was just another girl and he had time to kill
She cries to herself every night wishing she had waited
She was saving herself for her husband and marriage but all those dreams have faded
She doesn't know when she'll forgive herself and she doesn't know where to begin
To get back the happiness she used to have to learn to laugh again
She folds her hands and kneels by her bed with a prayer in her head
She waits and listens for an answer from him but not a word is said
She knows he has forgiven her but she sees it's all her fault
She gave away her own precious gift without a second thought
Someday she'll learn to trust again, and she'll find the courage somehow
To love and smile and forgive herself but she's still learning from her mistakes right now
