Fifteen

As I look up at the sky, I remember the day,
How could it be the rain took you away.
You were such a good person, with so many friends,
so why did your life have to end?
You were only 15 and you thought you were in love,
but because of what he did, you are in heaven above.
You both were fighting, and he was driving that night,
The rain was coming down so bad, you could see nothing in sight.
As you watched him drive, you saw a beer in his hand,
and you screamed to him,"don't drink and drive, I don't understand!"
As your eyes filled with tears, he lost control of the car,
NO one believed that it would go this far.
The car just swerved, and crashed into a tree,
He said, "No, this can't happen to her or me!"
"We are in love and we're destined to be!"
But there she is dead, and she is only 15.
No sweet sixteen, and no high school prom,
the reason for this is because she is gone.
So if you are the next person to drink drive,
you could be the next, to kill an innocent life.
I wrote this poem in dedication to Kim Rathjens.

This is a true poem. She was in love and now she is gone.
