State Route 904

The SR 904 number was assigned but not posted when the current state highway numbering system was first posted in January 1964. SR 904 began at I-90 Exit 257 at Tyler and headed east to Cheney then north, ending at I-90 Exit 270 at Four Lakes. I-90 was not yet open to traffic from Tyler to Four Lakes in 1964, however. The highway via Cheney was posted as US 10/US 395 until the I-90 bypass of Cheney opened in late 1966. When the US 10/US 395 signs came down, the SR 904 signs went up. Today, SR 904 is 16.96 miles long.

The unposted legislative number assigned to SR 904 was SSH 11H.
