SR 261 Lyons Ferry Bridge

The SR 261 Lyons Ferry Bridge replaced a ferryboat at this site. The main spans of the bridge are the recycled main spans of the original Vantage Bridge across the Columbia River. This bridge had been built in 1927 as part of State Road No. 7 (later Primary State Highway 7) the North Central Highway. The bridge became part of US 10 in 1940 when US 10 was rerouted across Central and Eastern Washington. The original Vantage Bridge was replaced by the present I-90 bridge in 1962. The old bridge was disassembled and trucked to Lyons Ferry. The bridge reopened as part of SR 261 in 1968.

The photo was taken in February 2003. Franklin County is in the foreground, Columbia County in the background.
