PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE

Welcome to the top level of amateur baseball in the Pacific Northwest. As a group, we share the common belief that we have an obligation to return to our communities the kind of support and encouragement that we have enjoyed over the years.

semiprofessional Baseball has existed in various forms in the Northwest since the early 1890's. Originally organized around and factory teams, the local and regional rivalries provide both a social and entertainment function for the fans. Evolution of the baseball organizations, wider entertainment variety and professional sports influence has changed the nature of this baseball.

Current teams place a strong emphasis on the amateur athlete, helping young players develop and in the process, realize their individual goals. The players possess a wide variety of experience. Top college athletes find themselves completing with former professional players. High caliber competition is the standard with the professional outline of "earning" your position through your playing productivity.

The Pacific International League was formed in 1992 by a core group of teams from previous Northwest Semi-Pro, Western International League. Formed and federally recognized as a Tax Free Corporation, the PIL has taken great pains to insure that community oriented philosophy is the guiding objective. Alongside the goal of establishing the "best" semi-pro league in North America, an equal effort is placed on returning to our communities and their youth some of the support that we received over the years.

Players in the league have college eligibility remaining and are forbidden to play in the professional minor leagues. Providing topnotch instruction and playing conditions, the PIL offers a premier developmental environment for college players hoping to hone their skills and display their talents during the summer.

Barry Bonds Roger Clemens, Jeff Bagwell, Frank Thomas, Mo Vaughn and Charles Nagy are just a few of the scores of current major leaguers who played college summer baseball on their way to pro career.
