Thomas Gantt

Company "H"

A Letter from a Descendant

I believe my wife's great, great grandfather was in that regiment (Co. H), Based on a pension application card that we found. His name was Thomas Gantt. He was born in South Carolina, and ended up in Alabama after the War. He lived to be 92. If he was in the Volunteer Infantry, we do not Know what Confederate regiment he fought in or where he was captured. He Never talked about fighting for the Confederacy.

One additional item of interest to note about Thomas Gantt was that on the 1900 Census he listed his parents as being born in Canada. This should also be Added to the info in my first letter in the chance that somebody who visits Your web page and is looking for any Gantts may see it.
