"Mercy, Addy, why are you all covered up with sand"? asked Burnham. "Don't look at me Burnham, I'm ugly…too ugly to be a jack-o-lantern. Look at all the ugly bumps all over me". Her voice was muffled. Softly Burnham said, "Addy, you're not ugly, you're unique. There's not another pumpkin like you. Why don't you find Fred and Wanda? Fred's so tall and not very round and Wilma is round, but not very tall.

I think the farmer's wife could set you in a basket with some leaves and maybe some other vegetables and you would look very elegant decorating a holiday table".

"Do you really think so"?, she said in a much stronger voice. "I KNOW so, Addy, give it a try" replied Burnham.

Thinking of that lovely picture, she too, hurried off to tell the Great Pumpkin.
