Domestic Violence
I did this site because it is one of the thing I think that need to be addressed. There are so many people out there that live with this every day and do not recognize it for what it really is. I will tell you that in most case it is the woman that is the victim, but there are man out their too that are victims, but not as many as woman. I choose the back ground on this page as a symbol of Life as it is, as we go down lives highway we want to see just the loveliness to it all. People also want other people just to see the nice, never what goes on out of their site or hearing. The ones that put up with Domestic Violence are ashamed and afraid to let other know.
Domestic Violence
Can take different forms, but its goal is always the same: batterers want total power and control over their partners.
They do this by regularly abusing them physically, emotionally, and psychologically.
Abusers are very much in control: they hit when they want to and stop when they are ready.
PHYSICAL ABUSE
Slapping, kicking, pushing
Hitting, choking, punching
VERBAL ABUSE
Constant criticism, name calling, shouting
making humiliating remarks, mocking
ISOLATION
Not allowing the victim to see friends and relatives
Monitoring phone calls
Controlling where the victim goes
Taking victim's keys, locking the victim out of the home
HARRASSMENT/COERCION/INTIMIDATION/THREATS
Making the victim feel guilty
Pushing the victim into decisions
Manipulating victim and other family members
Always insisting on being right
Making up impossible "rules" and punishing the victim for breaking them
Threatening to harm the victim, children, family members and pets
Using physical size to intimidate
Keeping weapons and threatening to use them
Following or stalking
Humiliating the victim in public
Constantly checking up on the victim's whereabouts
Extreme Jealousy and possessiveness
ECONOMIC CONTROL
Not paying bills, refusing to give money
SEXUAL ABUSE
Accuses you of cheating or is often jealous of your outside relationships.
Wants you to dress in a sexual way.
Insults you in sexual ways or calls you sexual names.
Has ever forced or manipulated you into to having sex or performing sexual acts.
Held you down during sex.
Demanded sex when you were sick, tired or after beating you.
Hurt you with weapons or objects during sex.
Involved other people in sexual activities with you.
Ignored your feelings regarding sex.
In closing this I want to add if your going through the thing you have just read or a big part of them you are living in Domestic Violence. A lot of people stay for many reasons, like the thinking the one that is doing these things to them will change, and a lot of time they tell their victim they will. But it is fact that with out professional help it doses not happen. One more is people stay in this kind of living arrangement is for their kids, they think their kids are better off with two parents. Most of the time the one that is getting abused,
has no self-value. They think there is no way they can make it on there on.
