Zachary, Jemima, and I were walking to the Israelites concert when Zachary tapped me on the shoulder. "Is that Larry Norman?" he whispered, gesturing towards a man standing nearby. I gave the guy a once-over.
"Nah," I said. "That's not Larry Norman. Kinda looks like him, though." Later, we found out that it was Larry Norman, and we were standing right next to the press tent. Jemima and Zachary moved on to the concert, while I stayed to watch Larry Norman's interview. When it was over, I was seized with a grand idea: hunt him down and get our pictures taken with him! I rushed over to the Israelites concert and pulled my sister and brother-in-law out. The rest is history...
Larry Norman sang "Good News" with Randy Stonehill during Randy's concert on Legends Night. |
Quote of the Day: Larry Norman mentioned that he'd been walking around the festival, noting all the different kinds of bands there were--rock, reggae, ska, etc. "If they've got it [the secular world], we've got it, because we're imitators of..." He paused for a moment. "...Christ."
A little kid close to the stage kept saying, "Larry Norman, Larry Norman" until he got Larry's attention. Larry turned and said, "What is it?" and talked with the kid for a minute before continuing the concert. That's one great thing about Larry--he doesn't overlook the little people.
I was standing with some antsy Stryper fans during this concert. Many of them were kinda grumbling, "Who is this old guy? Get him off the stage and bring on Stryper!" By the end of Larry's concert, though, they'd changed their tune. I heard one guy say, "Wow, that guy rocked!"
