LUCILLE DESIREE BALL
  On Monday evenings, more
than 30 million Americans did the same thing at the same time:
They tuned into I Love Lucy (9:00 p.m. E.D.T., CBS-TV) to get
a look at a round-eyed, red-haired comedienne named Lucille
Ball.
  An ex-model
and longtime movie star, Lucille Ball was the biggest success
in television. By May 26, 1952, the four national TV rating
services (Nielsen, Trendex, American Research Bureau and Videodex)
were in unaccustomed agreement; each of them rated I Love Lucy
as the nation's number 1 TV show.
  Lucy's
career is marked by the 124 radio episodes of "My Favorite Husband",
the 179 episodes of "I Love Lucy", the 13 "Lucy-Desi Comedy
Hours", the 156 episodes of "The Lucy Show" , the 144 episodes
of "Here's Lucy", and her 80 movies.
  This
