Summary: Johnny’s friends are really worried about him.

***********

Bruce watched as Johnny fell to the ground and started to quiver, a nonplussed expression on his face. He shook his head as Walt and Sarah Bannerman came running over.

“Oh my God, Walt, what’s happening to him?” Sarah cried, her fingers tearing into her husband’s arm. Walt shook his head, mystified and concerned as Johnny rolled on the ground.

“I’m not sure, honey. He seemed fine just a second ago, then he just...dropped.” They watched their friend’s body convulse again. “Bruce, what happened?”

“It’s okay,” Bruce tried to interject. Sarah whirled on him incredulously.

“Okay? How can you say that! He’s having some kind of fit!”

“Did he touch something? Did he touch someone? Did anyone see?” Reverend Gene Purdy asked gravely as he walked up, his expression uneasy.

“Look, people, really, it’s okay,” Bruce said in a calming voice as Johnny clutched at the ground. Lifting his face from the pavement, they could see it was streaked with tears, and his body still spasmed.

“Bruce...is right...” Johnny managed to pant. “I’m fine...really...”

“You’re fine? You’re on the ground in tears,” Sarah protested flatly before turning to her husband. “I think we should get an ambulance.”

“He doesn’t need an ambulance!” Bruce practically shouted. “He’s fine! I just...I told him a joke.”

Walt, Sarah and Gene all stared at Bruce.

“You told him a joke,” Walt repeated flatly.

“Yeah,” Bruce said, and Johnny nodded as Bruce helped pull him to his feet.

“All this was because...you heard a joke?” Sarah asked Johnny incredulously. The famous seer shrugged.

“Well, it was a pretty funny joke.”

“Pretty funny?” Bruce protested. “It was damned funny, man. It had you on the ground!”

“Well, people don’t tell me jokes very often, you know. But, seriously, it was fairly humorous.”

“Fairly...man, I’m outta here,” Bruce said, stalking off in mock disgust. Johnny turned to his other friends, grinning.

“So this cow walks into a...Sarah? Walt? Wait, Gene, you’ve gotta here this...hey, where’s everyone going?”
