Sonny & Carly #5  June 5 - August 25, 2000

Sonny & Carly talked about their loss of the baby, each one feeling at fault for his baby's death. In his grief, Sonny destroyed the cradle.

Roy and Bobbie are playing around half-dressed at the brownstone. They begin smooching when Sonny walks in. He wants to know why Roy isn’t in the basement or the attic. Roy explains he didn’t think it was necessary since they are about to contact the FBI. Bobbie asks Sonny about how Carly is doing. He says she doesn’t want to see anybody or go out. Bobbie informs Sonny that when she called earlier in the day, Carly wouldn’t even come to the phone. She also reminds Sonny of Carly’s history with postpartum and what happened when she had Michael. She encourages Sonny to get her to a doctor. Sonny says he will. The phone rings and Bobbie answers. It is Larkin and he asks to speak to Sonny. Bobbie says he must have the wrong number. He forcefully tells Bobbie to put Sonny on the phone and that he has Hannah. Bobbie relays the message before handing the phone to Sonny. Roy looks frightened. Roy starts to record the call, but Larkin tells Sonny it is no use because he has a scrambler. He tells Sonny he is willing to make a trade. He has to leave the country. They get Hannah for $2 million. He gives Sonny 24 hours. Larkin reminds Sonny that if he smells a cop the deal is off and Hannah will die. He hangs up. Sonny tells a panicked Roy that he will get his men on it immediately and get the money in the works. He tells Roy he has to sit tight. Sonny tries to calm Roy down. Roy explains to Sonny that he is trained and cannot just sit there. Sonny says they have to wait. If they are exposed it could endanger Hannah and blow their whole plan. Sonny asks Roy what his plans are when all this is over. Roy tells Sonny that he will breathe and then take Bobbie to Hawaii. He explains that is where they were supposed to go on their honeymoon. Bobbie arrives back at the brownstone and tells the duo she ran into Taggert in Hannah’s room. She thinks he could help because he really cares about Hannah. Sonny says no cops and no Taggert.

Former Agent Ford calls on Roy’s cell phone and says he may have a location for Larkin. Roy asks him to keep in touch just as Taggert barges in. He isn’t surprised he says to see Bobbie having a tea party with a crime lord and a fugitive. Taggert tells the trio they better come clean or Roy goes back to the big house. Roy tells Taggert the whole story; he was framed by Larkin and is trying to get the goods on him so he can be free. They explain that Larkin has Hannah. He only wants $2 million. The phone rings and it is Hannah and she wants to talk to Roy. She tells her dad that she is okay and that she thinks she is in some warehouse near the docks. She can’t give him anymore clues. Larkin walks up behind her and grabs her.

Mike came to visit Sonny to apologize for his words to Carly the other night. Mike saw that his son was in pain. Mike was scared because he knew the way that Sonny reacted to any grief, pain, and guilt. Mike told Sonny that it is too hard to sit back and watch him suffer and he wanted to help in some way. Sonny went upstairs to take a call, but Mike did not leave. Mike knew he had to try harder to reach Sonny. Sonny returned from his call and asked Mike why he was still there and what did he think that he could do. Mike pointed out to Sonny that he should be concentrating on all the wonderful things his son brought to his life even though he was not born. Mike said to Sonny, that his son changed him and had made him a better person. Mike said to Sonny, Your unborn son brought joy into your life and you became a better person because of him. Sonny conceded a little to Mike's plea. Sonny told Mike his sad story about Carly and how she was not handling her grief well and it is affecting her time with Michael. Michael continues to mention his baby brother to Sonny and Carly to make them smile, but now it causes pain that Carly cannot control. Carly also has been sitting in the empty nursery with a blue bunny that was supposed to be for their son. Sonny asked Mike, can you help me with Carly? Can you tell me what I can do? Mike actually replied with helpful information. He told Sonny to not give up on Carly. She needs him like he needs her through this time of grief. Mike said don't let her be alone, just keep being there for her and don't let her push you away. Look at how many times you have slammed the door in my face, but I am here for you still and always will be. The phone rang. Mike excused himself, but before he could leave. Sonny said, Mike, you would have been a great grandfather.

Sonny and Roy are discussing where Hannah is when Taggert shows up. He tells them that they either let him in on the drop or he will arrest both of them. Larkin calls and tells them to make the drop on the roof of a 12 story building. Larkin and another man have Hannah on the roof, Larkin tells her that she won't be there when daddy brings the money. They notice Sonny's men surrounding the building, Larkin tosses Hannah over the ledge and tries to escape down the stairs as Sonny, Roy, and Taggert are coming up. Fight ensues. Sonny runs to the rooftop where Hannah is calling for help from the ledge. Sonny pulls her up to safety. Sonny tells Roy and Taggert that his men have Larkin. Taggert wants to arrest everybody. For Hannah, Taggert gives everyone 24 hours to turn Larkin into the FBI.

Carly brings Sonny upstairs to their dead baby's empty nursery. She hands him a scraper and asks if he knows how to remove wallpaper. He says 'I think i can figure it out' 'good'. Sonny works a little while Carly vigorously scrapes as she babbles about making the room a tv or entertainment room. She scrapes faster and faster- Sonny throws down his tool and goes over to Carly. He grabs her still, she resists saying, 'leave me alone', he turns her around and hugs her. In the next scene she again questions him on why he didn't wait longer to abort the baby. he assures her of what she already knew that if he had she would have died. Sonny tries to change the subject saying that he thought it was a good idea to make it a tv room so they could stay up late watching without waking up the KIDS. he realizes his slip and immediately apologizes. Carly confides that nothing she does helps the emptiness go away- she asks him if smashing the cradle helped Sonny. Sonny seemed sorry that she witnessed that and asked if Michael saw him. No he didn't. Carly said she didn't know whether to go to him, to hold him or to stay away. sonny said its better she stayed away- he just gets like that sometimes. Later they are downstairs on the couch. Sonny is sitting and Carly is laying with her head in his lap. They are holding hands. Carly asks sonny what He thinks about when he thinks of their son. He goes into a sad sad explanation about how he'd love to give their son a bath. So sad. Sonny was being so marvelous to Carly. Sonny arranged for the nursery to be repainted today. Carly felt relieved by this change. The two were talking with Bobbie and Roy arrived. Roy and Sonny had a date with the FBI. Carly became irritated by this news because she felt left out of Sonny's life. Sonny told her not to worry because it was all over today. Sonny kept his composure as he lessened Carly's anger. Roy and Sonny left. Bobbie said that she would stay at the penthouse and wait with Carly. Carly told her mom what an important step it was to get rid of the nursery because to change that room would change things for her and Sonny. Carly had seen Sonny lose control and felt helpless in being able to help Sonny through his grief. Bobbie told Carly she must give herself and Sonny time to heal and work through the pain. It will be a long process. Carly insisted that there was only one thing left to be done to be over the loss.

Sonny and Roy awaited the visit of the FBI. Roy informed Sonny that he had to see Larkin for one last time. Roy looked at Larkin and informed him that his threats no longer had value. As a matter of fact, his threats now were signs of weakness. Roy was glad that Larkin would indeed suffer and experience the pain that he had felt all those lost years. There was a knock at the door. It was former Chief Ford and Supervising Agent Edwards. Sonny and Roy started to reveal Agent John Larkin's history of crime and kickback money. Initially Edwards did not believe them, until they brought out Larkin and the proof. But it was a package deal. Sonny wanted amnesty; Roy wanted freedom for himself and his daughter Hannah. Roy informed the FBI that they had to accept the deal in order to receive the evidence on Larkin. Edwards took a moment and discussed the deal with Ford and then agreed. Sonny and Roy were glowing with success. Roy said we are free and gave a sigh of relief. Sonny indicated that freedom is not an option available, but Roy, however, is free to do what ever he wants.

Carly still needing someone to blame started in on AJ. Bobbie told Carly to put AJ out of her mind. The only important people on her mind should be herself, Michael, and Sonny. The phone rang at the Penthouse. Carly answered. It was Sonny letting her know that all was clear and free. She asked him to rush home. Bobbie asked about Roy, but Carly said that Sonny did not mention him. Carly told Bobbie she was fine and to go ahead and look for Roy. Sonny returned and Carly congratulated him. She said, you do not like unfinished business. He said that is true. Carly was being quite odd with her conversation about Larkin. Sonny changed the subject and said that Carly and Michael come first with him. Sonny reiterated that he will give them whatever they need. Sonny again mentioned to Carly that he does not want business coming into his home with her and Michael. Sonny asked had they been to the park. Carly said of course not because they were waiting on him. Sonny said let's go then.

Taggert came upon Carly and Sonny, who took Michael out for some ices, and told Sonny that the Commissioner instructed him to bring him in for questioning. Carly immediately came to Sonny's defense, but Sonny told her that he would be fine and that she should go home with Michael till he gets back. When Sonny and Taggert left, an apologetic AJ suddenly appeared. He told her that he was concerned about her and had thought about her everyday. Carly accused AJ of attempting to kill her and the baby, and she also asked him if he was happy with the result. A provoked AJ replied that it is just a matter of time till he gets Michael from Sonny and Carly. A scared Carly told AJ that she would do anything it takes to keep him away from Michael. She said that she wished she had listened to Sonny when he warned her to stay away from AJ because he was dangerous. She thought he was harmless, but obviously she confused harmless with spineless. She then added that AJ belongs at the bottom of a river.

At the police station, Mac accused Sonny of helping Luke escape, and Sonny explained that he had not seen Luke in weeks, nor did he even know that Luke was arrested. After listening to Sonny, Mac realized that Sonny had no idea of what was going on, so he let him leave. When Sonny returned, Carly told him what happened at the docks when he left and asked him to kill AJ. Sonny replied that the damage it would do to Michael is not worth it. He was not willing for Michael to hurt Michael that way. He does want Michael to look at them and think of them as his father's murderers. Carly did not appear appeased by the answer but let it go.

Carly's not having any more luck with getting Sonny to take her to the Nurse's Ball. He believes it's too soon after the baby's death, and having to be cheerful in a big group of people who, let's face it, will be judging them both rather mercilessly, would not be the Good Fun she thinks it will be. He tells her how he felt going to the Ball so soon after Lily's death, but she counters with that good old strength thing again. Unfortunately, he remains unmoved, and reiterates his position--they're not going. Carly pulls out the sympathy plea she knows will get her the farthest, and says that since she wants to get out of the house and away from her depression, why shouldn't she? Sonny starts to waver--then shuts her down again, at which point she pulls out the big gun: Stone. Doesn't Sonny owe it to him to go? Sonny protests once more, saying that the Ball will only remind him of who's not there--to which Carly responds, okay then, I'll go by myself. Sonny says no way. With a little more emotional manipulation, a tactic that Sonny picks up on easily--he caves, more out of curiosity than an actual desire to go. This makes Carly very happy, and she immediately bounces out to buy a dress. Returning from her shopping trip, Carly is in a great mood--but she refuses to show Sonny her dress. She brags about it, though, and pulls out her brand new handbag--as Sonny is generally unimpressed by women's accessories, he listens in bemusement, then beats a hasty retreat before she can show him the matching earrings and pumps. Alone, Carly reiterates what she just told Sonny about the bag--it will hold everything she needs. (Cue ominous music.) On the night of the ball, Carly comes down complaining that she doesn’t have any shoes that go with her dress, so she goes off to buy some. Mike comes by the penthouse to “borrow cufflinks”. He is really checking up on Sonny. He is surprised that Sonny and Carly are going to the ball. Sonny says it’s important to Carly so he’s going along for the ride. Mike asks how Carly is doing. While they discuss it, Carly has returned and is listening quietly at the door. Carly comes in and Mike leaves after apologizing to Carly for attacking her the last time he saw her. Carly tells Sonny he doesn’t have to go to the ball. Sonny accuses her of listening to his conversation with Mike. She denies it, but Sonny calls her bluff and she admits it. Sonny says he’s going; that he’s doing it for Stone.

A Montage of everyone getting ready to go to the ball. Some of the highlights are of AJ belting back a shot of vodka, Lucky contemplates his tux, Helena tries to look girlish, Robin has arrived. Lucy comes out and welcomes everyone to the ball. Sonny and Carly are running late. Carly packs a revolver in her purse and they depart. It's finally time for the Nurses Ball. All the gowns were beautiful and the men looked great in their tuxes. Carly arrives with Sonny but won't let him take her purse. "You never know when you might have to go to the ladies room." She opens her purse and we see she brought Sonny's gun. Robin sees Sonny and asks where Jason is. He tells her that he is not in touch with him but she should ask Emily. Robin wants to know why he no longer keeps in touch with Jason, before he answers Carly walks up calls him "Honey" and kisses his cheek, and pulls him away. Later Robin and Carly meet in the lobby and Carly can't help but rub it in Robin's face that her and Sonny are planning to get married. Robin is stunned. She wants to know what happened between her and Jason. Carly says everything is Robin’s fault, she started it all by telling A.J. that Michael was his son. Sonny comes upon them arguing. Robin tells him that she has never been more ashamed of anyone as she was of him and walks off. Carly starts to apologize to Sonny for getting into it with Robin but he cuts her off and says he came to make sure she was okay.

Juan and Emily come back on stage and sing with, audience participation, "Lean on Me" while we see panels from the Aids Quilt Sonny donated a large amount of money to Pediatric Aids in Carly's name. Carly accepted a picture made by the kids but tells everyone that they should really be thanking Sonny and that children and babies are defenseless and we should all protect them. A.J. is disgusted by all this and goes onto the terrace to have a drink. Robin gets up and tells everyone that her health is good and that she has a great life in Paris but only a few years ago that wouldn't be possible but thanks to all the people who donate money for research longer, more productive lives are possible. Carly tells Sonny that if she has to listen to Saint Robin any longer she will throw up. She gets up to go to the ladies room, Sonny wants Johnny to go with her but she says she can go by herself. Of course she goes out to the terrace where A.J. is. She pulls her gun, A.J. turns around when he hears her cock the gun. "I'm going to do to you what you did to my son" AJ tells Carly that he should have expected this (her holding a gun on him and threatening to shoot) cause she shoots all her ex's. They fight about the accident again. She tells him she will never let him near Michael. AJ tells her to go ahead and shoot. He says if it means that Michael grows up with her as a mother than he wants to die. She says "so we agree, you have to die". Sonny appears behind Carly and says "Carly Don't". AJ tells "Carly-Babes" to go ahead, but Sonny tells her that Michael needs her - don't do it. AJ dares Carly to do it while Sonny continues to try and talk her out of it. Sonny tells Carly that she's fearless and she's not thinking and he admires her and that Michael is lucky to have her as his mom. He tells her that she's hurting Michael by doing this because they all need her. He is able to get the gun away from her and he tells AJ that he won't remember what happened here tonight and they leave.

Back at the penthouse Carly tells Sonny that she should have known better, that it wasn't the place to get rid of AJ - to public. She's losing it. She asks Sonny where she can get some drugs or poison to make it look like an accident and drank himself to death. She continues talking about killing AJ. Sonny says that she can't live with AJ's blood on her hands, she says she's doing it for Michael. He says that Michael needs her and this is not what he needs. She says she would just lay down and die if anything happened to Michael. Sonny tries to get through to Carly that one son is gone but she still has her other son who needs her. Sonny says he won't let AJ hurt Michael. Sonny tells her to go change, he's taking them away so she can rest and calm down. Sonny tells Johnny to get rid of all the guns in the house for everyone's safety. They show them next on the plane with Carly sleeping on Sonny's shoulder while he worries about her.

In his hideaway in the Caribbean, Sonny did his best to get Carly in a more stable frame of mind. He verified with Alexis that AJ hadn't filed charges against Carly for threatening him with the gun. Carly seemed to be coming around; she asked Sonny why he was so nice to her when he didn't need to since the baby was gone. Sonny replied that he needed her, as she's the only person who knows what he's feeling. The cheerful mood didn't last for long, however: when Sonny declared that the reason AJ hadn't filed charges was due to his fear of Sonny, Carly exploded. She proclaimed that AJ didn't call the cops because he's not afraid of anything. No matter what he does, wrap Jason's head around a tree, kill a baby, he always gets away with it. Sonny tried to tell Carly that AJ isn't getting away with it, but she wouldn't listen to him. Instead, she slapped him and began throwing glasses across the room. Sonny forgave Carly for slapping him, and she expressed to him her fear that she is losing her mind. Sonny promised Carly that he would help her get past her pain, and the two eventually made love. They return from swimming in the ocean (yes ladies Sonny is in his trunks!).

Sonny came home with a surprise in hand for Carly. Carly was looking lost; she had just put Michael down for his nap. At first she thought the gift was for Michael, but perked up when Sonny informed her that he thought of her when he saw it. Carly quickly grabbed the gift and opened it. It was a beautiful spaghetti strap white full length dressed decorated with blue and silver and it was shimmery. Sonny invited Carly to the Casino to show off her new dress, but she declined and said she was not ready to be out in public yet. She was afraid that she might go off again. Sonny said not to worry, they will have a good time. Sonny tells Carly that she never passes up parties. Carly says that she remembers the Nurses Ball, and the last time at the casino. Carly conceded to Sonny and went off to get ready. Sonny closed the Casino for Carly. They were the only two at the roulette table. Sonny was definitely on a mission to cheer Carly. He worked hard the entire evening to teach a very valuable lesson. Trust your own instincts because you make your own luck. He continued to compliment Carly and just boost her spirit and self-esteem. Carly loses for most of the game. Sonny bets on number "3" for him, Carly and Michael. Of course, he wins. Sonny gives Carly a lesson on instincts. Carly begins to win the game, but quits while she is still ahead. When they returned home, Carly told Sonny that she had learned a lesson and did he know what TGIC stood for. Sonny said no, is it thank God for Carly? Carly said it is about what he has pounded in her head all evening, trust, guts, instincts, and confidence. She said thank you for this evening that she would never forget. Sonny said you’re welcome. She told him to kiss her, then they continued on one passionate kiss after another.

Sonny and Carly's fabulous time in their private paradise is cut short by a series of frantic calls from Benny. Carly says time on the island has made her realize all that she could have lost by shooting AJ and thanks Sonny. Carly begged Sonny not to take her back to Port Charles, that he was right in brining her there. Sonny tells her he is shock that she is admitting he is right about something! She laughs and says she admits he is right more often than he says she is. Sonny feels Carly wants to stay on the island to hide away from her hurt. He tells her they have to go back, they have a life in PC. But he notices that they have learned to listen to each other while being on the island and he agrees to extend their vacation for a while longer. Sonny and Carly continued to grow closer, and Carly began to hope that they may actually have a future together.

Sonny and Carly went riding in his speedboat. Carly was just glowing. She looked so content to be there with Sonny. She even stated that she was so glad that he brought her to the island. Later, Benny visited Sonny on the island and insisted that he return to Port Charles immediately. Sonny told him to handle the situation back home and that he would be back later. Benny said that he is only an accountant and cannot handle the daily duties without Sonny’s presence as a force with Marino’s people. Carly walked in the foyer and eavesdrops on Sonny and Benny. Benny then asked Sonny if he wanted to risk everything for Carly, for a woman he doesn't love. Sonny explained to Benny that he had promised Jason to take care of Carly and he was not going back on his promised. Carly needed him to be there. Benny backed downed and reminded Sonny that he really does need to return to Port Charles the sooner the better. Meanwhile, Carly was hiding and misinterpreting the conversation to mean that Sonny was not developing feelings for her. Carly went to get Michael to tell him a story and as she was talking to him she was apologizing for letting him down about first Jason and now Sonny. Sonny walked into the room and Carly immediately said that it is time to leave the island. Sonny is puzzled by this statement and rebuts with they will leave in a day and a half. Sonny took Michael to the ocean to prior to him going to bed.

On their last day on the island, Carly and Sonny spend time together on the beach. Afterwards, Carly kisses Sonny, assuming that their relationship is finished. Carly and Sonny come back to PC, He tells her that he thinks it was too soon, they should have stayed a while longer. He thinks that they need to let go of the hurt and honor their son by focusing on the good. They have Michael. She brings Michael down to Sonny to say goodnight, they talk about the boat and sandcastles, then they put him to bed. Carly tells Sonny that he is right it is no good here, that she moved in because of the baby and now that the baby is gone it is time to leave. Despite their growing closeness, Carly informed a thrown Sonny that it is time for her and Michael to move out of the Penthouse. Sonny and Carly talk about her moving to the brownstone (because Carly doesn't understand why Sonny still wants her to stay at the penthouse) now that the baby is gone. Carly spends the day trying to get Sonny to keep her from moving. She wants one reason why she shouldn’t move out. Sonny tells her that her stuff is already there. Sonny asks what Carly wants from him. Sonny says she doesn’t have the right to want anything. She tells him she doesn't want to be an obligation to him, he doesn't contradict her that she isn't. She asks what he wants from her, if he wants to be roommates, someone else for him to feed and take care of? Or does he want more from her, does she do anything for him? His response, stay or go its fine with him he says as though he could care less leaving her no choice but to leave. Carly says she is moving out then. Michael interrupts their "talk" when he has a bad dream and Sonny assures him all is well. He sits with Sonny who obviously loves the child. Sonny says if its up to him that Michael wouldn't leave. Carly has tears in her eyes, as she really wants to hear that he cares about her too and doesn't want her to leave. He just can't admit his growing feelings towards her. Carly tells Sonny how good he is with Michael and wants their relationship to continue. Sonny tells Carly he will be there for Michael and hopes she will be happy. It's what they won't say that we're all waiting for. She will move out tomorrow. He looks taken aback by the suddenness. She asks unless there is a reason for him to stay? He again lets slip by an opportunity to ask her to stay, to tell her he wants her to stay. She goes upstairs to tell Leticia not to unpack from their trip. He sits looking sad and alone.

The next day, Carly sits ready to leave. Sonny stops her and tells her that he has set up a bank account for her. She is insulted and tells him she doesn't want a dime of his money. She has tears in her eyes as she tells him he only tolerated her because of the baby. She doesn't want to owe him anything or be subjected to his control freak ways. He gets very condescending about how she will pay for her living expenses and starts listing them all. She informs him she will get a job. He wants her to be there for Michael. Sonny softens and reminds her that he promised Jason he would take care of her and Michael (again this is his excuse rather than the real reason that he cares for her). Carly agrees to let Jason support them and will take money from Jason's share of the business. Sonny says a sweet goodbye to Michael as they say "I love you" to each other. Carly sadly says goodbye, still hoping Sonny will ask her to stay at the last minute. Instead, he lets her go, truly alone now and not looking too happy.

Mike enters the hallway to the penthouse, he can hear Sonny grumping at Johnny. Johnny comes out into the hallway and warns Mike that Sonny has been on a tear since Carly left. Mike is surprised that Sonny isn't celebrating. Mike tells Sonny that he misses Carly and urges him to get Carly back as she obviously made him happy.

At the brownstone, Carly grumbles to Leticia about being forced to adjust to their reduced circumstances. Carly is doing without a housekeeper, her car and driver, and doing her own laundry. She admits to Leticia that she has thought about moving back in with Sonny. Leticia gently encourages her employer to go back to Sonny but Carly insists that they would never work as a couple. Carly says he doesn't even like her that she isn't going to force him into a relationship that he doesn't want. Leticia says but Carly makes him laugh and he NEVER laughs. Next Taggert stops by, he even seems surprised that Carly moved out and says her and Sonny always seemed pretty solid to him. Sonny walks in as Carly is defending Sonny to Taggert, who leaves. Sonny says to Michael that maybe he and mommy can come back to the penthouse. Carly gets a big smile on her face, then Sonny backtracks and invites them for dinner next week. After he leaves, Carly smiles to Michael that she thinks Sonny is missing her. The washing machine breaks down, this is it for Carly who doesn't understand why she is choosing to live like a gypsy and maybe its time to stop being noble.

Sonny encounters a heartbroken Elizabeth on the docks and listens sympathetically to her tale of woe. Sonny consoles her while a very jealous Carly watches. Liz tells him about how she used to come to the docks when she thought Lucky was dead because she felt closer to him, but now Lucky is alive and she's lost him. Carly has seen enough, and she leaves. She asks him if he remembered the game - he loves me, he loves me not- and that she feels like that with Lucky. One minute he loves her, then all of the sudden he changes and he doesn't. Sonny tells her that when a person wants out of a relationship, you have to let them go. If it is this hard on her, think how hard it is on Lucky. She says that Lucky doesn't mean to hurt her. But he does, Sonny says, so maybe that's why he wanted to end it and also why she has to let him. Sonny is telling Liz that she has to give Lucky some breathing room. That you have to stop chasing sometimes or risk killing what love there is. She asked if something like that happened to him, and he says yeah, that he loved this girl and she loved him, but he walked away. Because the love did too much damage to them, so he had to walk away. Maybe Lucky sees it coming, so he's trying to end it. Liz wants to know what happened with Sonny. He says the girl found someone else, but he couldn't stand it, so he went after her till she was hanging on by a thread. He said that people said it wasn't love, it was passion. So if Lucky says he's done, maybe she should believe him and let him go. "Maybe I don't know how," she says.

Carly tromps back into the brownstone telling Leticia to stop packing they aren't going anywhere. She found Sonny all wrapped around little Elizabeth Webber and that they could take some lessons from Liz the "Master Manipulator." The doorbell rings and it's Johnny with the monthly check for child support and Carly's allowance. She tears it up. She doesn't want anything Sonny has to give.

Sonny finally convinces Liz to let Lucky go. It's going to be so hard. Carly is still having a fit in the brownstone. Does Johnny know why she will only take money from Jason? Because money from Jason is about caring, it's personal, and the money from Sonny is charity and obligation. She tells Johnny to just give Sonny her message and sends him on his way. She goes on ranting to Leticia about how money from Sonny is just a payoff so he doesn't feel guilty. He doesn't care about her, he'd rather be with Little Miss Goody Two Shoes. She says how Liz was hanging all over Sonny, crying buckets. She says it would serve her right if she took Liz on over Sonny. Sonny walks Liz to Kelly's where she spots Lucky and Nikolas inside. Sonny leaves. Carly and Michael finish their bedtime story about “The Little Engine That Could” and Carly sulks to Michael about how she won't use him to get any more men. She only wants to be with Sonny if he wants to be with her. Flash to Sonny on the docks. He is remembering when Carly finally put on his ring and they gave their vows. They were so happy. Now Sonny looks very sad.

At the brownstone, a jeering A.J. taunts Carly about losing Sonny's protection. A.J. informs Carly he's preparing to contest her sole custody of Michael in court. She brings up the document he signed giving up his rights to Michael. He tells her he will contest it in court. Carly has Rick (the bodyguard) throw AJ out. AJ taunts her that Sonny won't protect her forever. Carly calls Sonny and leaves a message about AJ's visit. Bobbie returns from her trip and is not happy to find that Carly has moved in while she was out of town. Carly tells Bobbie about finding Liz in Sonny's arms. Bobbie insists that Liz is in love with Lucky and is no threat. Carly says but why would Liz want Lucky when she could have Sonny, he is rich and handsome and has a thing for innocents in distress. Carly can't comprehend how Liz could resists Sonny's eyes. Bobbie reminds her that just last fall Carly jumped to the conclusion that Jason was having an affair with Liz and so she slept with Sonny. Bobbie wonders what impulsive thing Carly will do next. Bobbie says Carly can either move back in with Sonny or get her own place but she will not let Carly stay at the brownstone to punish Sonny. (Bobbie has it all wrong this time, as Carly isn't playing games she just wants the guy to tell her he cares, for once she is doing the right thing).

Sonny went to Luke's looking for Roy. Carly came in and sat at a table. Hannah and Taggert came in and Carly stood in front of Hannah. Carly picks a fight probably hoping Sonny will come to her defense. He doesn't, Hannah walks away. Then A.J. walked in and started to say something to Carly, when Sonny stood in front of Carly to protect her. Sonny told A.J. he made a mistake by going to the Brownstone. Sonny told A.J. he has hard evidence to put him away. A.J. told Sonny Michael would always be his son and one-day he will get him back. Bobbie and Roy came in and Roy asked A.J. to leave. Carly and Bobbie talked about her and Sonny's living arrangements. Bobbie told Sonny she needed to talk to him about where Carly was going to live. Sonny told Bobbie he would find Carly and Michael a place to live. Carly told Sonny that Michael and her are not pieces of furniture. Carly told Bobbie she was sorry she moved into the Brownstone without asking. Sonny said Carly and Michael were his responsibility. Sonny told Carly he would find them a place to live or they could move back in with him. Carly told Sonny she would rather live in a swamp.

Bobbie enters Kelly's to find Carly there. She gets on Carly for her dirty dishes in the sink, wet towel on the banister, Michael's toys all over the floor. Carly assures her she will clean up when she gets home. Bobbie corrects her that it isn't her home. They have words, Carly is ticked and decides to move back in with Sonny till she can find her own place. Carly heads to the penthouse but Sonny isn't there. Johnny tells her the sooner the better about her moving back as Sonny has been miserable since she left. Carly is in the kitchen and doesn't hear Liz knock. Liz sits in the hallway and tries to figure out how to tell Sonny about Emily being blackmailed. Sonny arrives and they enter the penthouse. Liz is obviously upset and Sonny draws her into his arms and comforts her. Carly enters and sees Liz in Sonny's arms, sees red and starts attacking Liz. She starts throwing wild accusations around about her trying to get into Sonny's bed, now that the baby is dead, Sonny is a free man. Sonny tells her to shut up, and Liz decides it's time to leave. He apologizes to her, and has Johnny take her home. He goes back in to confront Carly. She apologizes for bringing up the baby that she shouldn't have done that. She tells him she came back to see if she could move back in (not the best timing to bring this up). He tells her he's not going to get into it with her. She tells him how when he looks at Liz he sees a sweet girl, but when he looks at her he just sees trash. She tells him that she and Michael are moving on, and leaves.

Carly goes to see Lila. She needs some advice. She really cares about Sonny, but he no longer cares about her since she isn't pregnant with his child anymore. We see Sonny eating all alone at the penthouse looking lonely. Lila says that maybe Sonny is just having a hard time reaching out, but Carly doesn't hear anything Lila is trying to tell her.

Carly bumped into Roy while he was shopping for his new apartment and helped him choose two lamps. They return with their purchase and find Bobbie had already decorated Roy's place. Bobbie does not look too thrilled to see Carly with Roy.

Carly entering the PC Grille with shopping bags dangling from her arms. She spots Sonny sitting at the bar and tells him about how she's enrolled Michael in preschool and needs another "responsible adult" to sign the school's forms, in addition to her own signature. She has decided that Sonny is just the "responsible adult" to sign. They discuss whether or not Michael is old enough to be put in preschool. Liz is mentioned, but Sonny refuses to be dragged into it; instead, he oh-so-casually brings up the fact that she had mentioned wanting to move in again, or something...? Slightly peeved by their previous conversation, Carly shoots him down, saying that it wouldn't be good for Michael to move him again. Besides she knows that Sonny doesn't want her. Sonny again goes with the "whatever". They disagree a little more, neither of them even listening to half of what the other says, they are interrupted by the arrival of Alexis, who's there to meet with Sonny. Carly tries to brush her off, but Sonny turns around and brushes Carly off; on her way out, Carly hands him the form he has to sign for Michael's admittance to the school, and gives one last insult before stalking off. Bemused, Alexis asks what that was about, and Sonny explains--the lovely lawyer's response is, "You're not serious?!" She wonders why Sonny is still involved with Carly and Michael, and he explains that he's obligated to take care of them. Alexis points out that he isn't, not legally, but if he starts to sign documents about Michael, Carly could have legal grounds for to pursue child support and palimony. He says that isn't a problem as he intends to support Carly. Thrown, Alexis listens to him spout reasons for why Carly can't take care of herself financially; then, completely perplexed, she begs him to tell her that he doesn't have feelings for Carly. Sonny is trying to bluff about his emotions to Alexis, and not succeeding. Of course he has feelings for Carly, he says. Alexis clarifies, "romantic feelings?" His response is a firm, yet completely unbelievable no. They move on, and Alexis tells him that the paperwork for the deal Sonny made with the FBI has come through, he's officially committed no crimes before June first. This announcement prompts the words "Hot diggety dog!" to actually cross his lips. Alexis, however, warns him not to be too cocky; his luck can't hold out forever. Too ecstatic, Sonny brushes off her warning and heads out a skip in his step, leaving Alexis to sigh and finish off his scotch.

Arriving at Kelly's, Carly encounters Liz and Lucky. She greets Lucky warmly, then starts in on Liz …. Bringing out the claws, mentioning the various "indiscretions" that perhaps Lucky would be interested in knowing. Liz starts to get offended, and Lucky tries to step in but Liz says she can take care of herself. Carly responds that she can certainly take care of throwing herself at Sonny. A cat fight soon gets going, with both Liz and Carly hissing away with their best insults. Carly calls her a tramp. Liz says "Sonny lost a baby, you lost your meal ticket" and calls Carly a tramp and tells her that "Sonny figured it out and kicked your butt to the curb", after which she storms out. Lucky tells Carly to leave Liz alone. He criticizes Carly for spreading lies about Liz, but she defends her paranoia. Bobbie comes in on the tail end of their disagreement, and Lucky tells her that Liz ran off in the middle of her shift; he's going to go find her. Before he leaves he sends a pointed warning to Carly not to go near Elizabeth again. Once he's gone, Bobbie looks disapprovingly at her daughter, and Carly stares back at her. Bobbie comments that Carly has been busy. Bobbie figures out that Carly was upset from a run-in with Sonny, that she didn't get what she wanted from him so she headed over to Kelly's to take it out on Liz. Bobbie and Carly have a spat about Elizabeth, which quickly segues into a spat about Sonny, which quickly segues into a spat about why Bobbie can never take Carly's side against anyone (It’s the same old story between these two).

Liz is on the docks, going down the steps in a pair of highly impractical shoes—which makes her trip over the last step and fall. Liz limps painfully over to a bench and sits down, taking off the offending shoe and inspecting her injured ankle--only to have Sonny show up and inspect it himself. Apparently he's a sports injury expert, having played a lot of basketball in his youth; they both chuckle over that fact (given his lack of height),. Then they get a little more serious as they thank each other for the help they've offered--Liz to Sonny at the hospital, Sonny to Liz at the fire that "killed" Lucky. Sonny asks Liz why she was in the bad mood that led to her fall; she tells him about Carly's attack, including the comeback about the baby which she immediately regrets when she sees Sonny's face shut down. She apologizes, but Sonny brushes it off, telling her that he'll take care of Carly so that she doesn't pick fights with her anymore. He then changes the conversation back to Liz's ankle; he tells her to wear flat shoes for a few days until it gets better, but she objects--she's too short to wear flat shoes! This prompts a chuckle, and the two of them start to kid around a bit, and are in the midst of some nice flirty laughing when Lucky happens upon them. He gets that switched-off look, and stares impassively at the two on the bench as he wonders if maybe Carly had a point to what she said. Lucky confronts Sonny and ‘Liz about their “friendship” and asks if what Carly is saying is true. Liz tells Lucky that they’re just friends and Lucky asks Sonny if he’s told ‘Liz about his track record with his “friends” including Lily and Brenda. Sonny tells Lucky that he’s just looking for a fight and tells Lucky it’s not smart to start one with him. Sonny wonders why, if Lucky is through with ‘Liz, he cares about who she sees, then leaves. Liz, looking a little angry, asks Lucky to tell her why it matters to him who she sees. Liz tells Lucky that she’s confused by his behavior. Lucky gets angry and leaves.

Sonny goes to Kelly’s. He is ticked and blasts her. He tells her that everything that comes out of her mouth is poison and that she only uses people to get what she wants including Michael and their baby. He says Jason was smart to leave her and to leave town. She insists Liz is using him. He tells her that she always thinks others are using people because that all she does. He points out how she used Jason, used AJ, then Sonny. She hears this as his insinuation that she is a slut and uses men to get what she wants. Sonny thanks her for reminding him of who she really is because he had forgotten over the past few weeks who she really is and stalks off. Carly is left standing there, crushed, tears streaming down her face. Their parting seems so final.

Roy comes upon Carly, still outside Kelly’s. She is miserable and Roy tries to console her. She tells him she is her own worst enemy. Carly thinks that Sonny hates her. Roy comforts her and Sonny sees them embracing. Sonny apologizes to her. He starts by saying that what he is about to say doesn't excuse her behavior towards Elizabeth. She says if this is another lecture she will pass. He tells her he is trying to apologize, he starts to walk away and she stops him and says she does want to hear what he has to say. He goes on to illustrate how she jumps to conclusions. She retorts (with a bit of humor) that if this is his idea of an apology that he needs to take it back to the drawing board. He continues that when they fight she puts herself down and uses words like "trash, slut" about herself but they are her words not his. In a moment of insight, he says that she pushes his buttons so he lets her think he agrees. He asks her if she misses him, she tells him not to get ahead of himself. She asks him what he wants, if he misses her. He is noncommittal, but tells her she can move back in. She looks excited but tells him Jason's penthouse would be better. Again Sonny responds with the "whatever you want" line.

Carly gave Bobbie a less than perfect surprise party for her birthday, in which Roy was late to and was unaware that it was Bobbie's birthday as he never received Carly's message.

Sonny spent some quality time with Michael. He tells Michael that if there is a way to get Michael and his mother back home that Sonny will do it. Sonny later showed Alexis Jason's penthouse, and she decided to take it. Alexis is moving into her new place with the help of Sonny and his men. Ned walks in to find her making a toast with Sonny. Ned is fit to be tied. He and Alexis get into a big argument over why she is moving in. Ned says she is doing it just to spite him. Alexis says that he has his own career and just because she can’t just run off to wherever with him doesn’t mean she has to stay wherever he tells her to. She tells him he has to respect her more. They yell and scream at each other and Ned storms out. Alexis throws her purse at the door and breaks her cell phone by accident. Sonny comes over to find out if she is ok and Alexis, who is drunk from the champagne by this point starts accusing Sonny of trying to make her part of the organization. She says he wants to isolate her from her clients in order to make her apart of his outfit, which was exactly what Ned said when they argued. Ned was afraid she would ruin her reputation by living next to Sonny. Sonny tells her he has absolutely no such intentions.

At the Brownstone, Bobbie had been trying to find her keys. Carly found them and said that Michael had probably been playing with them again. Bobbie asked Carly when Michael and her were moving. Bobbie and Carly got into another argument about them living together. Carly told Bobbie that Michael and her would be moving into Jason's today. Carly told Michael that they were moving again. They were moving close to Uncle Sonny, they were going to live at Jason's. Carly asked Michael if he remembered when they lived with Jason. Carly told Michael that Jason wasn't coming back. Carly told Michael that Jason loves him, but not to look for him, because he wasn't coming back. Carly told Leticia to go ahead and start packing Michael's bags. Leticia asked Carly if they were moving back into Sonny's and Carly said No to Jason's. Leticia talked to Carly about Michael and her moving back to Sonny's. Leticia told Carly Michael likes his room at Sonny's. Carly told Leticia that Sonny didn't want them there and Leticia told Carly that she knew that wasn't true. Carly told Leticia Sonny needs to say so than. Carly, Michael and Leticia went to the Penthouse and Carly walked in on Alexis and Ned getting ready to christen the place. Carly wanted to know why they were in her house. Alexis told Carly she needed to check her lease again. Because Alexis had just rented the Penthouse from Sonny. Alexis is on the receiving end of Carly's wrath. Alexis tries to explain that she, Alexis, is living in the coveted penthouse but Carly won't have that. She begins explaining that she is moving in and Alexis has to get out at which point Sonny makes his entrance. He wants to know just what Carly thinks she's doing. He tells her that yes, Alexis is the tenant now. As Sonny & Carly start into a good fight as Ned and Alexis settle in to watch while eating their popcorn, "Better than a bad B-movie" they say. Carly, however, is actually quite astute, and tells Sonny that she's on to his plan to get her to move back in with him. Which Sonny of course denies, because he would never try to maneuver her into something she didn't want. Despite his vehemence, Carly says one more time that she'll never move back in with him, then storms out, taking Leticia, Michael, and their bags with her. Sonny turns to Alexis and Ned to get sympathy for what he has to put up with, but all they can offer are ratings of the argument for entertainment value. Ned offered a "high score", but Alexis gave specifics, 9.7, as well as a bit of sympathy. Sonny took the ribbing gracefully, then left the two lovebirds alone to smooch away happily.

Sonny tells Roy that if he gets into more than he can handle with Sorel, he should call for help. Roy appreciates the offer. Sonny then asks what's up with Mike but Roy's less talkative in that area, instead telling Sonny to ask his dad personally about that one. His curiosity peaked, Sonny goes to sit with Mike, who puts on the false bravado and tries to deflect Sonny's inquiries as to what's wrong. Mike points out that Sonny has other things to worry about - like Carly, who just entered dressed to incite jealousy. Sonny notices her entrance, and sees her stride purposefully over to Roy at the bar but is entirely unconcerned despite the fact that she's now being seductive at her mother's boyfriend. Sonny's totally blissful dismissal of Carly's obvious come on to Roy has Mike flabbergasted, he again tries to get Sonny to pay attention to the show her behavior off: "She gets like that." Carly lays it on thick, going for realism in her performance for Sonny. What she doesn't realize is that Roy has caught on to what she's doing, and decides to play along. Completely deadpan he comes onto her, telling her that he was first attracted to her eyes and "wants to get to know" her the way she "wants to get to know" him. His performance is better than hers, and Carly is completely thrown. However, Bobbie walks in and is livid to see Carly coming on to yet another one of Bobbie’s lovers. .Sonny tells Bobbie that Roy was just trying to teach Carly a lesson. Bobbie reminds him that Carly stole Tony away from her and that she doesn’t want to watch it happen again. Bobbie gets mad and storms out. Sonny tells Carly she should stop playing games to get his attention. If she is mad at him for renting Jason’s place out from under her, she should talk to him about it. They go back and forth. Sonny finally begins to ask her to move in with him, but Carly cuts him off and agrees to see the realtor about getting a house. Sonny agrees and they leave Luke’s.

Bobbie met with Sonny to ask him if Roy is working for him. Sonny says he isn’t but that Bobby should stay out of it. Roy wouldn’t like her interfering. Bobbie is upset. Mike asks Carly to get the 40 grand from Sonny for him. Carly isn’t sure. She doesn’t want to lie to Sonny. Mike says if he dies, then Sonny will go to war with Sorel. But he can’t ask Sonny for the money because Sonny will cast him out of his life for good and that will only leave Sonny even more alone. Sonny shows up at the park and talks to Carly for a while about Mike and their past. Sonny says how happy he is that Mike has changed. The man he used to hate is gone. Carly decides to help Mike. But she is doing it for Sonny, not Mike. Mike is worried it won’t work.

Carly and Emily shared a friendly moment and Carly sincerely offered to let Emily see Michael whenever she wanted. Carly promised she would get Mike the money later that evening, but she wanted to tell Sonny the truth. Mike begged Carly not to, even though it could ruin her potential relationship with Sonny to lie to him.

Sonny assured Alexis that Carly would be moving into his place. Sonny insisted to Carly that he wanted to participate in Michael's life and reiterated his plans to go the pre-school open house. Sonny was surprised when Carly asked him for a $40,000 loan as down payment towards a house. Carly managed to convince Sonny she needed money in her bank account so she wouldn't appear to be a credit risk to potential lending institutions Of course, a respectable amount would be $40,000.00. Sonny agreed to transfer the money to Carly's account first thing. After she leaves, Sonny calls Benny to thwart Carly's "house hunting" attempts so she will be forced to move in with him. Later, at the Brownstone, Bobbie gave Carly an ultimatum -- move out in 2 weeks or Bobbie will go to Sonny and tell him Carly has been manipulating him. (Actually Carly isn't. For once she is doing the right thing. She doesn't want to live with Sonny unless he wants her to. All she is doing is waiting for him to tell her he wants her to).

Bobbie and Carly had another fight about when Carly would move out of the brownstone. Bobbie made it clear to Carly that she doesn't approve of Carly's scheme to make it look as though she's really trying to buy a house with the $40,000 Sonny gave her. Carly told Bobbie that she's not moving back in with Sonny until he expresses his desire for her to live with him. Bobbie and Carly also exchanged words over Hannah. Bobbie said she resents the fact that Carly puts down Hannah. Carly countered with what Hannah did to Sonny makes her a snake. She then went on to say that AJ and Hannah are a perfect couple and she hopes they end up wrapped around a tree in a car accident.

In the meantime, Sonny doesn't want to push Carly, so he's been patronizing her "search" for a house. Mike surprised Sonny by showing up unannounced at the Penthouse with a Danish for breakfast. Sonny seemed pleased to see him and ended up making a real breakfast for his dad. While they ate, Mike told Sonny how much he regrets the past mistakes he's made. He also defended Carly which surprised Sonny. He never mentioned the $40,000 gambling debt Sorel is pressuring him to pay up.

Sonny shows up at the brownstone and tells Carly that the money is in her account. She shows him pictures of houses that she is considering. He grins at her, flashing those dimples. He looks so sexy, Carly melts under his gaze. He is cooperating way too much, telling her just to let him know if she needs any help in her house search. If the house she chooses needs any work he can help with contractors, etc. The whole time he is looking at her very seductively but doesn't try to stop her. After he leaves, she grins to herself and says she knows Sonny wants her and she is going to make him admit it!

Carly called Mike to tell him she got the $40,000 and that she'd give him a call the next day to make drop-off arrangements. At the same time, Sonny returned home to find Sorel waiting outside his door. Sorel filled in Sonny about Mike's debt (but didn't reveal the amount) and offered two scenarios to resolve the problem: either Sonny makes a deal with Sorel or Mike dies. Sonny angrily warned Sorel not to harm Mike or he'll live to regret it. A smug Sorel left, while a devastated Sonny went into his home and threw a couple of folders and a chair.

Carly gives Mike the money, and demands he tell her where he is meeting Sorel so that she can make sure he isn’t just leaving town with it. Mike tells her and then goes off to meet with Sonny who had left a message with Tammy asking Mike to meet him. Sonny tells Mike he knows and that their relationship is over. Now Sonny has to give into whatever Sorel wants so that Mike’s death isn’t on Sonny’s hands. Sonny is mad. Carly, not realizing that Sonny knows and is meeting with Sorel at the hotel, not Mike, calls the police and gives an anonymous tip that Sorel is going to be engaging in criminal activity and gives them the address and the time of the meeting. Then she dresses up in a disguise with the idea of catching it all on tape if the police don’t decide to show up. Sorel tells Sonny to meet him at the hotel and Hannah and Taggert are called to respond to the tip. Sonny sends for Mike then places him under "house arrest" until Sonny's meeting with Sorel is over. Carly "Babes" is all dressed up in a red wig and a very skimpy leopard print dress and about to leave for the motel where Sonny is meeting Sorel. But AJ shows up with attorney in tow! He threatens to take Michael away, makes fun of the "Carly Babes" clothing and says that he hopes she dresses that way for court. Carly pretends to call the cops to have AJ arrested for breaking and entering, harassment, etc. and his attorney suggests that they leave. As soon as AJ is out the front door Carly grabs her purse and heads out the backdoor.

Carly arrives at the motel and cons one of the maids into letting her into the room before Sorel or Sonny arrive. She tapes a small tape recorder to the bottom of a table then hides in the closet, waiting for Sorel and (she thinks) Mike to arrive. Carly has the tape recorder in place and hears Sorel coming. She hides in the closet then suddenly realizes that she left the light on and her purse on the bed. She hurries to remedy the situation and gets back in the closet just as Sorel and one of his henchmen enter the motel room. Sorel takes off his coat and tells his man to hang it up. Carly panics and holds the doorknob to the closet so that Sorel's man cannot open the door. He returns to his boss to inform him that the closet door is broke and asks Sorel if he should kick the door in. Sorel grumbles about cheap motels and that the noise of breaking in the closet door would bring every cop around, then tells him to just hang it over the chair. Carly relaxes until she hears a knock at the motel room door and hears Sonny's voice instead of Mike's. Sorel tells Sonny that Mike Corbin owes him and the debt cannot be paid with money. Sorel says he wants Sonny to use his transportation network to move Sorel's drugs from Cleveland to the Bahamas. Before Sonny can answer Carly bursts out of the closet and says, "Sonny, don't say a word! The tape is rolling and the cops are on the way!" Sorel and henchman run out of the room, but reappear just then Hannah and Taggert bust into the room, guns drawn and pointed at Sonny and Carly. Taggert demands that Sonny give him the tape recorder which Sonny reluctantly does. Carly, says that she can "explain everything" but Sonny barks at her to keep quiet. Sonny insists that Carly keep her mouth shut. Of course, since she's nervous and watching her plan blow up in her face, she kinda doesn't listen. And when Sorel gets in on things, taunting both Sonny and Carly about Ms Benson's hooker attire, it gets even harder for her to keep her to keep quiet. But Sonny puts his foot down, and she quiets down for the time being. Of course, Taggert is enjoying this way more than is strictly necessary, and has Hannah handcuff Sonny while Taggs himself leads Carly away. Alone for a brief moment, Hannah apologizes to her former lover but Sonny has none of it, and tells her to tell it to his lawyer. She leads him away.

Back at the PD, Mac congratulates Taggert and Hannah on the bust; the two arresting officers are quite smug, and despite Carly's taunts about Hannah's former "job" performance. Hannah stays cool and just taunts Carly back as she fills out the necessary forms. Sonny is unimpressed, but Carly takes the more direct approach. She tries to attack Hannah, and is led away to simmer down in an interrogation room with Sonny. Mac, who saw Carly's lunge for the FBI agent, questions Hannah on her treatment of the arrestee while Dara stands in the background, taking it all in. Now that they're alone in the interrogation room, Carly tries to explain what happened to Sonny but he listens to nothing. Instead, he makes it crystal clear that she's not to say a word until Alexis arrives.

The police stand outside the interrogation room and go over their strategy. They'll let Sonny take a piece out of Carly then separate them at which point Carly will be so distraught that she'll fall all over herself to talk to friendly ol' Taggert. Tags is told to question Carly first to make Sonny mad. Hannah says that the mobster will see through the ploy a mile away, to which Mac wonders if she has any more brilliant ideas. In the interrogation room, Carly has issues with not saying anything-but Sonny remains firm and quiet. Taggert enters the interrogation room to find two very silent people sitting at the table. He has Sonny taken out of the room, he asks for a phone and calls Alexis.

Inside, Taggert talks very politely to Carly, making sure to stand in front of the window into the bullpen so that Carly and Sonny can't maintain eye contact. He thanks Carly for her cooperation with the bust, reasons with her to try to get her to open up, and insists that Carly would be helping Sonny by explaining what was going on in the motel room. So wrapped up in his strategy is he that he moves away from the window, and Carly immediately locks eyes with Sonny, who has finished his phone call and is watching the proceedings with an intense expression on his face. His silent presence helps Carly keep quiet and she simply sits, blinking back tears, as Taggert tries to wear her down. After a long moment, however, Sonny turns away from the window outside and tells Mac to call Taggert off, he's ready to make a statement. Sonny gives his statement he says that he won't say anything until his lawyer arrives. Mac is not amused, and Taggert, who has left Carly, is pulled into another huddle with Dara, Mac, and Hannah about just what kind of evidence they have. Sonny doesn't actually agree to run drugs on the tape, but the silence could be interpreted as implied consent--he could have nodded. They discuss Carly's involvement and how exactly they can use her testimony to nail Sonny. Dara convinces them that whatever Carly says or doesn't say, she can make a case against Sonny. Carly is taken out of the interrogation room and told that she can leave. Sonny, however, has to stay. While Sonny is led off for his own little talk with the cops, Carly stands alone in the bullpen, frantic but silent.

Sonny is out on Bail and as he and Alexis leave the courtroom expecting a lot of questions about the case, a shocked Alexis finds out they are more interested in hearing more about “Eddie’s Angel” Alexis is mortified. She sends Sonny out on his own.

AJ shows up at Carly’s door to taunt her about Sonny’s arrest saying he will get his son back. Carly’s tells him no way. Sonny shows up and chases AJ out threatening to send him to jail for arson. Sonny doesn’t want to hear explanations from Carly, he just wants her to pack up her stuff and move in with him where he can keep an eye on her. Later she gets her chance to tell the story and Sonny is pissed. He tells her from now on she will do what he says and keep her mouth shut. “Why should I” she asks….he says because he is the only thing between AJ and Michael. Carly goes upstairs quite upset.

Carly spent the day arguing with Sonny about the Sorel bust. Her point, which he wouldn't agree to, was that her intentions were good. He reminded her of all the chances she had to be honest with him. He says that he let her in way too close but that is over now. He told her that she's in his "space" but not in his life. She accused him of putting her in "Sonny Siberia." He told her he'd give her whatever she wanted or needed, such as money, but he wouldn't give her his trust. With tears in her eyes, she asks him to forgive her. Later Alexis counseled Sonny that the best way to solve his legal problems is to marry Carly because a spouse cannot be forced to testify against the other spouse. Sonny's reaction was to ask, "So my choices are to go to prison or to marry Carly?"

Jason showed up at Sonny's door at the very end of the show and didn't say anything; he might have been too shocked that Carly opened the door. She looked quite surprised yet pleased to see him.
