Sonny & Carly #15  May 10 - July 8, 2002 - 8 Hours SLP - Original Edit

Sonny and Bobbie are at Carly's house. Sonny tells her that it looks like they may have to accept that Carly didn't get out alive. Bobbie, still deeply in denial, excuses Sonny’s lapse in belief by saying he is just tired and will buck up again once he gets some rest. Sonny blames himself for Carly's "death." He says he would give his own life to have her back again. Bobbie tries to convince him that she would know in her heart if Carly was dead. She says Carly is probably fine, alone and confused but alive. They appear to be at an impasse when Jax arrives with news from the divers. A body has been recovered from the lake. Jax assures Sonny and Bobbie that the body found is Carly's. Bobbie insists that Carly is not dead, again, and also insists she is not in denial. A mother knows. Bobbie says she is a nurse and knows that water damage leaves a body unrecognizable. She pulls out Carly's hairbrush and tells them to do a DNA test on the body to prove it isn't Carly. Sonny goes to the hospital and wants to see the body in the morgue. The coroner unwraps the body bag and Sonny gags and runs out. Jax says goodbye to Carly and wishes that she may find peace. Sonny is in a state of shock and ends up collapsing in the elevator. Sonny has seen the body and in a Zombie -like trance, he kind of zones out in the elevator, falling to the floor. When his strength returns, he goes to the park. He just sits there in a daze. A hand touches his shoulder, and it's Courtney. She has come to comfort him. Luke comes back to face his beloved sis, Bobbie. Luke, with a somber look, says," I'm sorry. Baby, the body the divers pulled from the lake is Carly's." She hyperventilates and falls to her knees in overwhelming despair. Musical montage to the song "Twilight" by Vanessa Carlton. Everyone in PC morns Carly.

Laura is with Bobbie. Bobbie picks a key chain Jason gave to Carly to be buried with her. She finds a letter Carly wrote to her for Mother's day. It expresses how deeply Carly loved her despite everything. Bobbie breaks down. She puts the letter back saying Carly might want to give it to her later. She goes to the closet to look for a dress for the body to be buried in. She chooses the one Carly wore to the club opening.

Sonny visits Club 101. Mike comes in, he can't believe Carly is gone. Mike says how proud Carly was of the club and what a determined woman she was. Mike tells Sonny her death was an accident and reminds him how happy Carly had been creating the club. Sonny blames himself for divorcing Carly and asking Zander to look out for her. He says Carly wanted to see how he would react when she kissed Zander and he says he couldn't stand to see her with anyone else. He feels guilty for not forgiving Carly and he says he did this to her. Mike says it's a two way street, Carly is responsible for what happened too. It was an accident and she didn't die because he didn't forgive her. Sonny says he drove her to do what she did. Mike reminds Sonny of the reasons Carly gave him not to trust her, the FBI set up and Zander. "People you love can and will fail you over and over." Mike says Sonny expects people to fail him and Mike is a big part of the reason why. That is why Sonny didn't go to Carly sooner. Mike says Sonny needs to forgive himself. They hug. Zander talks to the body in the morgue, he is distraught and says he can't grieve for her in public. He says goodbye to her. Zander cries and says he will never forget her. A guard tries to make Zander leave. Luke defends Zander to the guard and stays with the body because Zander doesn't want to leave her alone.

Sonny arrives at the Brownstone and Bobbie thanks him for taking care of all the arrangements. He admits that he didn't want Bobbie to have to deal with it. Bobbie remembers how Carly hated it when Sonny stepped in and took over, but she is thankful for his help. Bobbie tells Sonny that despite all the fighting, Carly knew that she could trust him. Bobbie informs Sonny that Michael is at the park with Leticia and they talk about how they are going to tell Michael about Carly. Sonny offers to tell him, but would like to have Bobbie present. She assures him that she will support any decision and that she is glad that he is Michael's father and not AJ. AJ would only take advantage of the situation. They finally agreed that tomorrow Michael would stay with Leticia during the funeral, and Sonny would tell Michael about his mother's death. They didn't want to continue keeping him in the dark, or Michael would feel as if he had done something wrong and blame himself for Carly's "leaving". They talk about custody and Bobbie tells Sonny that he is a wonderful father and will understand completely if he wants Michael with him. Bobbie, not knowing about Sonny and Alexis, expressed her relief to Sonny that Alexis was the attorney in charge of Michael's future, since Scott had resigned as A.J.'s attorney. She knows that Alexis will find a way to keep Michael with Sonny and away from AJ. Sonny was speechless, and his feelings were obviously scattered. As Sonny is leaving Bobbie's, Luke shows up. A delivery man arrives with a huge bouquet of flowers sent by AJ. Both Sonny and Luke were furious. Sonny tells the delivery man that he wants the flowers destroyed, not given to anyone, but burned. Luke and Sonny talk about how much they hate AJ and Luke tells him that if AJ messes with Bobbie again, he will personally take a bat to his head. Luke tells Sonny that he is thankful that Bobbie has him for a son-in-law because he knows that Sonny will do everything he can to keep Michael away from AJ.

Alexis is trying to work, but remembers a conversation she had with Carly where Carly is telling Alexis that she couldn't possibly know what Sonny is thinking or feeling because she doesn't love him. A knock at the door and Sonny is standing outside. Alexis began babbling on about the legal issues, but Sonny told her he didn't need her in that capacity, but for support. "You matter to me," he said. He told her he didn't want to shut down on her or on Michael now. They talk a bit about Bobbie and how she is handling the situation. Sonny tells Alexis that he has agreed to tell Michael but can't think of how to do it. Alexis tells him to reassure Michael that he will not loose him too. Sonny admits that he doesn't handle death well. He hurts the people around him, pushes them away and shuts down. He vows not to do that to Michael or to Alexis. He shyly admits that he needs her to be around. He asked her if she was coming to the funeral. She said she didn't think her coming to the funeral was the "right thing to do." Sonny seemed surprised and disappointed, but hesitantly said he understood and left. Alexis begins to have second thoughts.

At the Church, a very heart wrenching scene involving Sonny. He walks up to the coffin and begins to talk to Carly. He admits that he doesn't know how to tell Michael that his mother is dead but that he will probably say something about angels and heaven. He tells her that since he wasn't able to tell her everything he wanted to when she was alive he will tell her now. He tells her that he forgives her for everything. He tells her that he respects her, that she is loyal, smart, has great instincts and is the bravest person he has ever known, that he will ever meet. He tells her that he loves her and hopes that one day she will be able to forgive him for what he did to her and that he is sorry for not having the courage to tell her before. He vows that he will honor her wishes and will protect Michael from AJ. Sonny looks up as someone walks into the church. A.J. comes to the church to pay his respects before the others arrive. Sonny grants him one minute. A.J. goes up to Carly’s coffin and promises to be there for Michael. Sonny tells him to stay away from Michael then makes some veiled threats, which Jax and Skye hear as they enter the church. AJ throws the restraining order in Sonny's face but promises that "things change." Jax tells A.J. to leave, and Skye agrees. Skye tells Sonny that she realizes A.J. is out of line, but he is her brother and she doesn’t want to see him hurt. She asks Sonny to call her first if A.J. becomes a major problem, and she will deal with it. She goes to make sure A.J. has left the premises. Jax tells Sonny that Carly was an amazing woman. After he’s gone, Sonny speaks to the coffin, “Looks like the candy boy liked you a little bit, huh? Everybody did, Carly. You’ll be surprised who shows up today.”

Bobbie’s friends gather around her. Bobbie insists that the body in the casket is not Carly’s, and she won’t sit through a service that tells her that her daughter’s dead. The first to arrive at the funeral is Alexis. She tells Sonny she would do anything to bring Carly back. "Say Goodnight Not Goodbye" by Beth Neilson Chapman plays as everyone enters the church. Next a contingent of Sonny’s associates enter and sit near the back. The Quartermaines come in after them, with Edward grumbling about staying away from the thugs. Amy and Tony enter together, with Tony going up to the coffin to pay his respects. Elizabeth comes in alone, but after a moment’s hesitation, she goes to sit with Audrey and Sarah. Felecia, Mac and Maxie take a seat behind Audrey and her granddaughters. Ned and Kristina arrive and sit with Alexis. Mike sits with Sonny in the front pew. Lucky comes in with Laura and Scott and Roy. He glances at Elizabeth and sits in the pew in front of her.

Finally, Bobbie and Luke enter the church. Bobbie pauses by the casket for a moment, a bewildered look on her face, then takes a seat in the front pew opposite Sonny. The priest starts the service and asks for family and friends to share their memories of Carly. Jax goes first. He says Carly could be ruthless but she always had her reasons. Club 101 was her declaration of independence. She was a woman who loved fiercely. He is glad she was a part of his life. Next Zander comes to the front of the church. He tells everyone that Carly could be a true friend if she liked you. Most of all, she was brave and never backed away from anything. Luke takes his turn at the pulpit. He says he and Carly didn’t like each other much, probably because they were too much alike. He observes that Carly ripped lives apart but she also loved and was loved. Especially by her mother, he adds, who now has to face the heartbreak of letting her go and learning to live on with just her memory. Bobbie finally goes forward. She starts to talk about giving Carly up on the day she was born and how she showed up one day many years later. Then Bobbie breaks down, as the reality of the situation hits her. Sonny goes up to comfort her. There’s a noise from the back of the church, and everyone turns to look. A confused-looking Carly with a bruise on her forehead has entered the building!

Carly slowly checks everyone out, starts to ask why everyone is there. She makes her way up the aisle and finally sees the casket and her picture. She runs out. Sonny and Bobbie run after her. Edward’s first reaction is “This does not bode well for our chances at getting Michael back.” Sonny catches up with Carly. He tells her it is safe. Does she know who he is? Carly wonders if she is dead or dreaming. He says she's alive, they hug and Bobbie shows up. She is reunited with Carly. She has a big contusion on her forehead. Sonny finally convinces her that she is alive, a mistake was made and everything will be all right. They embrace. Bobbie shows up and they embrace as well. Carly is taken to the hospital. Zander wants to wait at the hospital to see Carly, but Sonny tells him another time. Tony reports that Carly has a possible concussion, but is basically fine. Carly tells Sonny that she is sorry for scaring him. He thought he was going crazy when he says her in the church. He couldn't lose her and didn't want to believe she was dead. He is sorry he started to believe it. He starts to leave but she asks him to stay.

Bobbie reassures Carly that Michael is great and will be waiting for her. Carly is grateful. Carly can’t remember much of what happened. She doesn’t know why she left Sonny’s place upset and asks Sonny if he knows specifically what she was upset about. Later, Bobbie comes into Carly's hospital room and Sonny admits that he is worried because she hasn't woken up yet. She assures him that is a good sign. They go outside and talk more about Carly's condition. Bobbie is concerned about Sonny, but he won't leave. He wants to be there when she wakes up. They talk about how Bobbie knew Carly wasn't dead. As Bobbie leaves, Sonny goes back into the room as Carly is waking up from a nightmare. She wants to know why Sonny is there. What happened? She dreamed her car was sinking. He says it wasn't a dream, that her car went into the lake. She tells Sonny that she only remembers the accident itself, but nothing before or after. She thinks it was all a dream, but he assures her that she wasn't dreaming and that she was indeed missing. Carly remembers finding a cabin but asks him why she was driving by the lake? Sonny says she was upset. She remembers she was planning to give him a birthday card from Michael did he get it? He says no. She thinks something must have happened in between leaving to see him and reaching the lake. Sonny won't fill in the blanks. She says she will remember and he should go home and rest but he won't. Bobbie enters and tells Carly that Sonny has been there all night. Carly tells him to go home and get some sleep.

At first he is reluctant but than agrees when Bobbie assures him that she won't leave Carly. Bobbie tries to help Carly remember and Carly knows that Sonny is hiding something from her. Bobbie says to go easy on Sonny he was beside himself without her. Bobbie tells her to forget the past and focus on the future. Later, Michael arrives to visit his mother and wants to know if she's sick. Carly assures him that she will be home soon. He wants to throw a party for her and Uncle Sonny cause he never had his birthday party. She agrees and looks up to see Zander in the doorway. Carly admits to Zander that she thought no one would show up to her funeral. He tries to apologize for their last night together, but she interrupts him and tells him that she can't remember anything before or after the accident. She thinks that she has hurt Sonny again, really bad. She presses Zander to tell her what happened that made her so upset. He lies and tells her that he doesn't really know because he wasn't there. Carly thinks he is hiding something. When asked, she admits that she can't remember going to see Zander. He takes her hand and tells her how he prayed for her to be alive and that now that he has been given a second chance, he will get it right. She asks what he means by second chances. Zander tells her that they had a fight, but it wasn't her fault as she suspects it was. She tells him not to blame himself. He tells her that if he could do it over again, he would never let her go. Zander tells Carly that she deserves better than second best and the accepts her for who she is. He tells her to forget the past and focus on the future and then leaves smiling.

Sonny goes to see Alexis they need to talk about where things stand now that Carly is back. Alexis asks how Carly is doing and after a quick explanation, Sonny gets to the point and wants to know what happens next. He asks Alexis if she wants to forget everything that happened. She says, is that what you want? Sonny admits that he can't forget because Alexis matters to him. She reminds him of the connection between him and Carly and how hard it must have been for her to hear how far things got between them. Sonny then admits that he still hasn't told her the truth. He wants Carly to be fully recovered before he lays that on her. If she doesn't remember herself, he will have to tell her. Sonny thinks that things should go back to where they were, but Alexis doesn't quite know what that was. She tells him that they were/are both consenting adults who made a decision that had consequences they couldn't even imagine. Sonny says that he will tell her right now how he feels, but Alexis decides she doesn't really want to have the conversation anymore. He thinks she has a right to know how he feels, but she wants to talk about Carly. Sonny can't find the words to explain his feelings about Carly and wants to know why Alexis is doing this. She tells him its because they are both adults and they need to even if it hurts.

Luke, Roy and Scotty are at the hospital in a little huddle. Scotty shares that he thinks A.J. is behind the DNA mix up that identified the body as Carly. They agree that he has motive (her death would have made getting Michael back easier) and of course the means. But no evidence. To create a diversion as only Luke can, he drops to the ground in agony as nurses come a-running. He's yelling about pain and needing help while Roy uses the computer to find out who did the DNA testing. Scotty brings down the lab tech that did the testing and they corner him to find out what happened. He spun a tale of a cute nurse that distracted him. He voices concern that Sonny will come after him for the mistake. Luke calls him a liar and demands the truth. They are interrupted by Bobbie who sends away the lab tech and tells the boys to back off, she just wants the whole thing forgotten. After she goes, Luke states that he is going to get some answers and takes off.

Carly has quite a few visitors today. First of which is Jax with a big bunch of flowers. He calms her concerns about the club letting her know that business was booming. He tells her that everyone missed her especially Sonny. She tells him that she feels Sonny is hiding something from her. When he leaves, A.J. is seen lurking outside the door. Bobbie comes in next and they have a warm, fuzzy mother-daughter talk. After Bobbie leaves, A.J. comes in and tells her that her being alive will not change the fact that he is determined to be Michael's father. He rambles on with vague threats about his intentions when he is interrupted by Mike who tells him to get out. Mike then assures Carly that Sonny was devastated when he thought she was dead and had even admitted that he had made mistakes. She seems very happy to hear that.

In Alexis' apartment, she and Sonny are continuing their painful conversation from yesterday. Sonny seems uncomfortable with all of the talking and analyzing that Alexis is doing, but does his best to give her what she needs. She is trying hard to make sure that they deal with Carly's return with honesty. She shares that she is worried that there will be well-intentioned lies. She also doesn't want denial or avoidance to mess up their hard won friendship and trust. When asked if he was still in love with Carly he replied that he never stopped loving Carly. He tells her that he cares about her Alexis and doesn't want to lose her friendship. She makes the comment that almost losing Carly made him reevaluate his feelings for his wife, which he didn't deny. He asks her if being his lawyer would be uncomfortable for her and she says it won't. Sonny tries to stop the conversation for now, but Alexis is determined to talk it through today. She tells him she cares for him deeply and gets a little misty. She's not giving up, she says, just breathing. She then tells him to go home and be with his wife. He walks out. She tries to do paperwork, but can't and goes to the door, but stops and just stands there. Meanwhile Sonny is also trying in vain to get some work done, but can't. There's a knock at the door and he opens it and seems surprised to see Carly standing there.

Carly comes to the Penthouse, she has checked herself out of the hospital. She had a nightmare about Sonny and needed to know he was ok. She starts to leave but her head bothers her. Sonny insists she stay with him. When he finally gets her settled on the sofa with a throw wrapped around her she confesses that she had a bad dream. She dreamt that she found his door open and walked in with the feeling something was terribly wrong. When she woke up she had to be sure he was OK, so she checked herself out of the hospital. Later he finally gets her to tell him how freaked out she was by arriving at her own funeral. They discuss how their perspectives (on several things), have been changed by the accident and her near “death”. Sonny tells Carly that the DNA match was no accident. Carly immediately realizes that AJ probably had something to do with it and is glad he didn’t find her or she might really have ended up at the bottom of the lake. Carly tells Sonny to stay out of it, it is her problem and she will deal with AJ. He warns her not to do anything she will regret. Carly says she feels as if she has been given another chance and doesn’t want to mess it up. He tells her that he is glad she didn’t really die before he had a chance to forgive her. Carly is stunned and asks if that means he HAS forgiven her…?

AJ walks along the wharf and runs into Luke. Luke lays into the younger man and informs him that it’s time for payback. Luke tells AJ he is not going to get off scot-free for his most recent crimes and especially not for causing Bobbie pain. Unaware to both of them, someone has arrived and is standing on the steps eavesdropping. (All we get to see is a set of black boot and a pair of jeans from the knees down). AJ scoffs at Luke’s anger and threats and makes the mistake of telling him that he is not anymore afraid of Luke than he is of Sonny. As the person on the steps watches, Luke swings and lands a punch to AJ’s midsection, which has AJ doubling over. Suddenly a woman’s voice yells out for Luke to stop and leave AJ alone. It’s Laura. She manages to convince Luke to leave AJ alone. Before Luke leaves he gives AJ one last warning. If AJ messes with or causes trouble or pain for Bobbie he will find himself on the wrong end of a broken bat. Laura rips into AJ about the pain he caused.

Carly thanks Sonny for watching Michael. Sonny and Carly apologize to each other and joke about Sonny teaching her to cook. They talk about how special life is forgiveness and second chances. Sonny wants to make Carly dinner. Sonny tells Carly that he is going to run out to the market to purchase some ingredients to fix a meal with. Carly is surprised that he is not going to answer her question, has he forgiven her? Sonny promises that once he returns and they eat, he will answer any and all her questions. Sonny waits for the elevator. When it finally arrives, Alexis is in it. They greet each other politely. Sonny tells Alexis that Carly is over and he going to prepare dinner for her. They exchange slightly awkward glances and words. Alexis moves away towards her PH but suddenly feels dizzy and has to lean against the wall. Sonny notices, takes her by the arm and asks if she is OK. Alexis assures him that she is fine. Suddenly, Carly opens the door to Sonny’s PH and step out to ask Sonny for something specific. She sees them standing close together and gets that look.

AJ sits on a bench on the docks and drops his head into his hands. (Apparently he is more shaken up by his encounter with Luke than he let on). He is not paying attention, so he doesn’t see that the person who was watching before is now approaching, until that person is standing next to him. AJ catches a glimpse of the boots, drops his hand and looks up… Past the boots… Past the jeans… Past the T-shirt and black leather jacket… Right in to the face of…Jason! A.J. and Jason had their usual hostile chat. A.J. tried to tell Jason that he had changed. He was married and not drinking. He told Jason that his wife was Sonny's sister and Sonny had tried to kill him on their honeymoon. Jason said yes, AJ had changed, he lied even more than before. He issued a warning about staying away from Carly and Michael. Jason tells AJ that the scheming must stop. AJ leaves and Jason's phone rings, a local bartender says some people recognized a photo of Carly he had left at the bar.

Carly is jealous and tells Sonny she doesn't want to eat, she wants to finish their talk. She wants to know if he forgives her. He tells her he doesn't want her to leave but she needs more than that. He says he doesn't know what forgiveness feels like. He says when he saw her in the church he felt like a weight was lifted off. Is that forgiveness? He talked about how he sometimes forgave Mike. He talked about when Mike was supposed to pick him up and take him out but never showed up. Carly says forgiveness is when you can look past the mistakes and let go. "Can you do that?" Sonny says "When I look in your eyes I see love." They kiss passionately and he carries her upstairs, they make love as a Bonnie Raitt song plays. Later they were lying there, Carly asks Sonny about his new tattoo. He says he got it because he couldn't stop thinking of being with her. They both confess how much they have missed each other. Someone knocks at the door and Sonny goes to check. Carly thanks God for giving Sonny back to her. Carly told Sonny to bring whoever's head it was on a silver platter. Sonny opened the door to Jason, who he was expecting. Jason asked about Carly and Sonny said she was upstairs. Jason said he could come back the next day. No, Sonny said it was okay. He asked if Jason issued his warning to A.J. and Jason said yes. He said Luke had been working him over but Laura stopped him. Sonny said it was too bad. Sonny asks Jason to check on where Carly was when she was missing. Jason says he's already started with a local bartender. Carly came down and saw Jason. She ran over and hugged him. She asked if he was there to stay. He said he was there now.

Sonny walked in to Kelly's to purchase apple turnovers for Carly. Off to the side he noticed Alexis sitting alone. He asked what she was doing there. Alexis told him that she was having breakfast. All of a sudden Alexis became pale and without color. Sonny immediately questioned her about her health and what she had been eating lately. "Let me take you to my doctor to see what's wrong with you." Alexis said she was okay and covered by saying really don't worry I'm fine. How are things with you? Sonny told her about Michael and the party. Alexis was happy for him. Maxi brought over the wrong food to Alexis and she almost could not take the sight of the food. Sonny noticed this right away and asked about her health again. Alexis told him not to worry. "Sonny we are friends about all else, no promises and no regrets." Sonny told Alexis that, "there are a couple things I want to clear up. I don't like to leave things unfinished." Alexis said, "we're friends, why don't you call that finished for now." Sonny agreed as long as she was okay. Alexis sent Sonny off to Carly. As Alexis became more sensitive and sick to her stomach, she began to have concerns about her health too. Alexis made a beeline to the closest drug store and tried to discretely pick up an in home pregnancy test.

Carly was decorating her entire living room for Sonny's birthday party. Michael had been anxiously waiting this day of celebration. Carly was apologizing for such short notice of not coming home last night, but Leticia wished Carly well with her second chance with Sonny. Jax came into Carly's house. He looked very serious. Carly looked at him and smiled. Carly mentioned how terrific everything is going for her now. Jax told her it was a brilliant reversal. Carly said, "I have everything I want". Jax was plagued by the events that led Carly here. He made a statement which implied that Carly had planned the accident herself. Carly was outraged by Jax's comment. What are you calling me a bold face liar? Jax told her he only wanted to know the truth, but really it seemed he was probing Carly to get a reaction and to see if she was the culprit. Carly asked Jax what he wanted from her. Was it blood, was it more tears, should she breakdown in front of Michael, what? Do you want to know about my nightmares Carly asked Jax? Jax apologized for hurting Carly. He told her that he deserved to know the truth and what really happened the night of the car accident. Sonny arrived and asked exactly what was going on here. Carly told Sonny that Jax is suspicious and suspects her of planning the accident herself. What does he think? Sonny did not answer. Carly threw them both out of her house. At that moment Michael came running downstairs into Uncle Sonny's arms. Carly softly told Jax to leave and don't come back until he remembered how to be a friend.

Michael's birthday celebration was going well for him and Sonny and Carly made it happen. Michael and Sonny blew out the candles together and Carly was snapping many digital pictures. Thoughts of what Jax thought still haunted Carly. She asked Michael to go get something from the kitchen. Carly then asked Sonny point blank if he believed her or if he too thought that she had faked the accident. Sonny did not reply instead he mentioned that Michael saw his mom in Bobbie's backyard and was this true. Carly was surprised by this question. Carly told Sonny that she couldn't remember too much surrounding the accident and her memory is all messed up. Sonny told her that he was not trying to start a fight with this here. "I just want to know where you were." Carly questioned Sonny and asked if he wanted to know what else she remembered? "I remember seeing you and Alexis naked in bed together." Sonny's eyes enlarged. Sonny admits it happened and they go back and forth about Alexis and Zander. Carly asks him to leave but he says he wants to explain. Sonny wonders when Carly's memory came back. She explains there were bits and pieces and wants to know if it was real or if he is going to deny it. He admits it was very real and reminds her that they were divorced, that it was ultimately her decision to get the divorce and that she couldn't have expected him to remain celibate his whole life. He even admits it was only once with Alexis and he tells her there is no future with Alexis, he wants to let this go. She is very angry. Her kiss with Zander is nothing compared to his sleeping with Alexis. So what if she tried to make him jealous? She isn't playing games. She even says she might never forget the vision of him and Alexis together. And she may never trust him again. She wants to know if his forgiveness is real. He says he meant every word he didn't sleep with her last night out of guilt. She believes him and says she will never love anyone the way she loves him. She is not sure she can forget about Alexis and is upset he didn't tell her that he slept with her. Carly says she is not sure if she can trust him. After Sonny leaves, Bobbie shows up and tells her daughter there's going to be a welcome back party for her and for everyone that stood by Bobbie while Carly was away. Carly tells her to invite Alexis. Zander comes over and wants to take Carly to dinner, he is interested in a relationship with her.

Meanwhile, Alexis' buys a pregnancy test Alexis has managed to buy the pregnancy test but she is standing outside her door struggling with the key, when Sonny gets off the elevator. He asks to help. The bag with the test is lying on the ground, with the test exposed! As Sonny met Alexis in the hallway and helped her gather her fallen "groceries," he asked her, "What haven't you told me?" Alexis swore to him that she was not avoiding him, she was just trying to make this easier for him, and she was not sorry that "it" happened. At that point, Courtney arrived and interrupted them, saying she had to talk to Sonny right away. Alexis retreated to her apartment and later, alone, she took the pregnancy test and discovered that she was, in fact, pregnant!

Zander arrived at Carly's door with flowers and well wishes. He asked to take her to dinner before her party, but she turned him down, saying, "A lot has happened since the last time I saw you." Carly told Zander that she remembered everything about the "accident". Zander asked her to forget about everything that happened that night and "the apologies". Carly told Zander that Alexis' and Sonny's "fling" was just that … and that she (Carly) and Sonny were in love. She told Zander, "Sonny's sleeping with Alexis meant more to me than it did to him. This time, nothing is going to tear us apart." Zander told Carly that Sonny would only hurt her again, considering their history, but Carly refused to hear that, and Zander left. Carly then called out to Leticia to get her black dress, and Carly headed upstairs.

Sonny and Courtney had a confrontation regarding A.J., and Courtney defended A.J., but listened closely as Sonny explained the depths of A.J.'s latest wrong doings where Carly was concerned. Courtney refused to believe A.J. was capable of such actions. Courtney suggested a meeting amongst the four adults involved (Sonny, Carly, A.J. and Courtney), but Sonny refused. Courtney, obviously frustrated by this, threatened Sonny and said that if he hurt A.J., she would be his enemy forever.

On the docks, Jason met up with a guy who had seen a woman in a diner after the "accident". Jason confirmed with the man that it was, in fact, Carly. Jason asked the man, "Did she order a chili dog, toasted bun, double order of cheese fries?" According to the informant, she had. Jason then knew that Carly had lied. Loaded with information, Jason showed up at Carly's door, telling her he knew she faked her death and that Sonny should know. Carly was stunned. At the same time, Sonny surprised a newly pregnant Alexis by showing up at her door wanting to see if she’s all right. She evades his questions and won’t let him in (mindful of the positive pregnancy test on her coffee table). He observes that she’s acting strange and she should really tell him what’s on her mind before she over thinks things like she usually does. Alexis insists that everything is okay and she will see him later at Carly’s “welcome home” party. Sonny leaves, and Alexis hurries back into the penthouse. She scoops up the pregnancy test and all its paraphernalia and deposits everything in the trash.

Jason tells Carly he knows she faked her death because he has an eyewitness who placed her at a diner ordering her favorite meal. Carly insists she did almost die and woke up in the cabin just like she said. She breaks down and confesses and tells him the whole story starting with when her car hit the water. She was numb and cold and could barely move but somehow she got out and got to safety but has no idea how long she was in the water. She said she found a summer cabin and she broke in and stayed there a few days because she was drifting in and out. She said she went into town to find a pay phone to call her mom but then she saw the newspaper about her being missing and decided to stay away longer to get back at Sonny and make him feel guilty for sleeping with Alexis. She said when she heard that they had found "her body" she went back. She swears she didn't fake her death but she did stay missing longer than she actually was. Jason is furious and tells her that Sonny will be very angry and that if she doesn't tell him he will. She asks him if he knows that Sonny and Alexis slept together and he says yes. She says she was hurt and it ripped her heart out but as soon as she found out they found her body (which she says she had no part in and doesn't know how that happened) she came straight back. She tells Jason that Sonny has really forgiven her for turning him into the Feds. Carly says that she and Sonny have another chance at happiness now and pleads with Jason not to tell him. Jason says Sonny will find out. Carly asks that he wait a little while. Carly wants to tell him her own way. Jason reluctantly agrees. He tells her that it will all blow up in her face like it always does.

Sonny shows up to take her to the party. Carly walks Jason out and promises to tell Sonny the truth in her own way. Back inside, she and Sonny kiss. Sonny says he thought she would never forgive him. They forgive each other and she starts to tell him about staying missing. She says that seeing him in bed with Alexis made her want to hurt him and she's sorry. They wind up on her bed upstairs. Sonny says he thought she was mad at him. Carly says she will let it go, because she chooses to be happy. Sonny says he has forgiven her for turning him in to the FBI. Carly confesses she has something else to tell him. She talks about almost dying and how she wanted to hurt him for sleeping with Alexis and how she’s so sorry. She apologizes for putting him through everything. Carly tries to tell him what happened but the two share an intimate moment and she decides not too. Carly says they should go to the party, she wants to have some fun.

Outside the diner, Carly and Sonny arrive. Carly sends Sonny inside without her, claiming she needs a minute to collect herself. Then she pulls out her cell phone and tries to call Jason but can’t find him. Jax and Alexis arrive. Carly wants to talk to Alexis alone. Inside, Sonny greets Jason and asks if the lead on the guy who saw Carly panned out. Outside, Carly tells Alexis to stay away from Sonny. “There’s nothing you have to offer that I can’t give him,” she snipes and starts to walk away. Alexis says, half to herself, “I wouldn’t bet on that.” Carly hears and turns back. Carly told Alexis that Sonny didn't need her and Alexis tried to walk away. Carly grabbed her arm and Alexis, pulls away and falls. Sonny came out and Ned and Kristina ran over to her, concerned. Alexis said she was okay, she slipped and fell. They all looked at Carly and she denied doing anything, that she didn't push Alexis. Alexis told everyone she was okay, don't fuss. Jax asked to escort Carly inside to her party and Carly refused at first, looking at Sonny. Sonny said to go ahead, it was her party. Finally Sonny went in and Alexis told Kristina and Ned that she needed to see a doctor, she just hadn't wanted to make a fuss.

Inside Carly and Bobbie hugged. Jason was there and he asked Carly if she had told Sonny about faking her death and she said no. He told her that Sonny wanted him investigating where she was while she was missing. She said things were going so well. The party was breaking up and Carly and Sonny left. Alexis is at the hospital finding out that the baby is okay. Back home, Alexis sat by the fire and was telling her baby that they would be okay by themselves. Back at Sonny's penthouse, Carly said she still didn't like the idea that he slept with Alexis. Sonny told her that it was only once and it wouldn't happen again. He said that Alexis was his friend though and to treat her with respect.

Later, Liz is accosted by Carly who demands that Liz tell her where Jason is. Liz plays coy and says that she has no idea, after all, Jason doesn't like to tell people where he's going. Carly tells Liz that she will never have the guts to go after Jason because deep down she is afraid of him and that he is too dangerous for her. Liz wants to know why Carly is looking for Jason, but guess right when she says that Carly probably screwed up again and wants Jason to help her. Liz makes a move to leave, but Carly grabs her wrist and demands to know where Jason is before she smacks her silly. Liz's response? Try it! Zander intervenes. Zander asks Carly what is going on and Carly wants to know why Zander automatically assumed it was her tells Zander that Carly was attacking her like crazy woman. She finally tells Carly that Jason went to Sonny's and she rushes off. Zander asks Liz what's up with Carly and Jason. Liz says that she has no idea, but muses that Jason is like her savior. When Carly screws up Jason saves her behind and she uses that to her full advantage. Liz apologizes because she knows that Carly and Zander are friends, but he admits that he needs to know what is going on between them. He tells Liz that he is tired of living by everyone else's rules and that it is time to take matters into his own hands. He is about to rush off but Liz quickly tells him that he should think first before he acts. Zander tells Liz that he is tired of thinking and rushes off.

Carly is on the phone asking for Jason, who is not home. She is desperate to find him as she is worried he will tell Sonny the truth about her absence. She is about to leave when Sonny comes down the stairs and asks her where she's going. She explains that she has a meeting with one of Michael's teachers. Sonny tries to convince her stay. Carly admits that now that things are going so well between them, she doesn't want to screw them up or make any mistakes. Sonny agrees and tells her that they will take things as naturally as the come. He tries again to convince her to stay but she leaves anyway. While she was gone, Jason shows up and he and Sonny start talking about Carly's disappearance. Jason explains that some of the summer cabins were broken into and that someone spotted her eating at a diner. Sonny makes a joke about her eating habits. They talk about the distance between PC and where Carly supposedly was hiding out. Sonny muses that Carly could have been in the waters for hours thinking she was drowning, but Jason reminds Sonny that she is all right. Sonny admits to Jason that him and Carly now have a second chance at happiness and they might even try to have a baby. Jason and Sonny continue to talk about the coffee warehouse when Jason tells Sonny that he is done traveling and is home for good. Sonny asks Jason what took him so long. Jason explains that while he was traveling he was trying to figure things out and then started thinking about PC and about the people he loves and if they needed him. When he got the call about Carly, Jason explains, he knew it was time to come home.

Sonny finds a contract that he needs Alexis to sign and heads next door, leaving Jason to wait for Carly. Carly shows up and when Jason tells her that Sonny is at Alexis's he quickly points out that it is business. She relaxes and asks if he told Sonny. Jason tells Carly not to worry, he backed up her story. He further tells Carly not to screw anything up with Sonny. They have a second chance, don't blow it. Carly thanks Jason and tells him that she knows how she got what she wanted and they hug. Zander is standing outside the open door and sees Carly and Jason embracing lovingly and talking about how much they’ve missed each other. Carly says she really needs him and no one understands her like he does. When they hug again, Zander loses it, busts in and starts yelling, reminds her that she told him the same stuff a few weeks ago. Carly tells him he doesn’t understand her relationship with Jason and that they’ve known each other a lot longer than she’s known him. Zander suggests she sleeps with Jason, just like she wanted to sleep with him. Jason starts yelling at Zander, telling him he has a big mouth.

Back at home Alexis is talking out loud to the baby. She explains to the unborn child, that although she doesn't know exactly what she is doing, she is a very quick study and will give the child everything she can, but boy or girl, you will not be playing with guns no matter who your father is. She muses to herself if being a mobster is genetic. There is a knock at the door and Alexis quickly cleans up the baby stuff, minus a book that she leaves on the floor. She opens the door and Sonny asks if she is all right. She says she is, but he knows better and after going into the apartment tells her that he can help her with whatever is going on. Sonny tries to find out what is wrong with Alexis. She explains that she doesn’t have to share everything in her life with him. She manages to kick the “Becoming a Parent” brochure that is laying in plain sight on the floor under a table and out of the way before he can see it. She tries to get Sonny to leave but he announces he isn’t going to leave until she tells him what her problem is. She refuses to tell him, wants him to back off. He tells her there has to be something he can do. They overhear Jason, Carly, and Zander arguing. ”Enough!” Sonny yells at them. Zander tells Sonny that Jason is back stabbing him. Zander tells him that Carly and Jason are sleeping together. Sonny tells them they aren’t going to discuss this in the hall so he ushers everyone back into his penthouse. Sonny asks Zander what he wants. Zander says he wants the last year of his life back. He feels he’s been loyal to Sonny and gotten nothing in return, that Sonny doesn’t trust his word on anything. Sonny explains that Jason is much more loyal than Zander. He asks Jason straight up in front of Zander if he has been disloyal and Jason says no. That’s sufficient for Sonny. Zander calls him a fool, twice! Sonny doesn’t take this lightly and tells Zander he’s a liability, he runs off at the mouth and he can’t be trusted with his wife. Carly tries to take some blame for her situation with Zander, but Sonny isn’t interested in hearing her side. Zander asks where all this loyalty crap has gotten him and Sonny says it’s gotten him one month’s severance pay. He’s fired. Sonny tells Zander to basically forget the last year happened. Zander leaves, saying, “It’s like I was never here.”

Carly tries to plead Zander’s case to Sonny, she reminds him that Zander was loyal. Sonny explains to her that he was never going to learn. Jason tries to explain to her, too, that Zander never knew when to shut up. When Sonny refuses to listen to Carly, she decides to run after Zander. She thinks he’s been a good friend, but Sonny just laughs. She is annoyed and leaves. Sonny and Jason discuss Zander. Jason never liked him, was annoyed by him. Sonny is surprised that Zander elicited such a reaction out of Jason because he usually doesn’t care much about people. Knock knock. It’s Mike, who says hello, welcome back to Jason and explains that he needs to talk about Courtney. Jason leaves to go after Carly. Mike tries to get money out of Sonny, mentions that he played the stock market and his funds are all tied up. Sonny gets angry and tells him he’s being played with this stock market tip which came from Edward. He tells Mike he can’t be trusted and orders him to stay out of it, he’ll take care of it. Mike leaves.

Outside the building, Carly has caught up with Zander and tries to explain that there is nothing going on sexually between her and Jason. He talks like he was being stupid, he didn’t realize the game, he shouldn’t have thrown her out of his bed. Then he asks Carly what would happen if he wasn’t on Sonny’s side. Carly tells him it is dangerous for him to be making threats. Jason intervenes and tells Zander he made a mistake to “let” him stay in town, but he did it for Emily. Zander takes offense that Jason thinks he “let” him stay in town and tells Jason he doesn’t know all the facts about Emily. Zander finally has had enough and leaves. Carly explains to Jason that Zander was a really great friend to her. He tells her she should just enjoy being back with Sonny and she’ll get everything she wants, including being pregnant with Sonny’s child.

Over at Alexis', Alexis confirms for Sonny that AJ has no access to money. Sonny explains to her that he can’t trust Mike so he writes a large check that he wants Alexis to give to Courtney. He knows she wouldn’t accept it from him. He explains how important family is to him, nothing is more important. Sonny also explains that Zander is definitely out and agrees that it might be the best thing for him. Alexis asks if Sonny ever wanted out when he was Zander’s age. He said he did wonder what it would be like, but it was never a possibility. He reminds her again of the importance of family.

Outside Kelly's, Jason overhears Roscoe telling someone on the phone that he thinks he found someone to help him move against Sonny. As Courtney describes some of the job opportunities, Alexis arrives with check in hand. She passes it to Courtney who is about to hand it back, when AJ tells her to listen to Sonny's offer. Alexis explains that Sonny is aware of their situation and that the money has no strings attached. After ripping up the check, Courtney informs Alexis that what Sonny means and what he says are two different things and that he just wants to be the hero. She tells her brother's lawyer that if Sonny wants to be the hero and help than let AJ see his son. Alexis listens intently as Courtney explains her feelings and emotions about growing up without knowing her father. Alexis agrees to pass the message onto Sonny and leaves.

Carly is trying in vain to explain Zander's behavior to Jason. She admits that she used Zander as a substitute for Jason because she missed him so much and now Zander is feeling hurt and betrayed. Jason asks Carly if she told Sonny that she loves him. She says yes, like 3 million times. Jason tells her that Zander knew the situation going in and that Zander pushed things too far. It's not your fault, so don't try and fix it, Jason tells Carly. She admits that she is finished screwing up her life and wants everything to be as close to perfect as possible with Sonny and she owes it all to Jason. They hug and are about to leave, when Jason gets a disturbing phone call. Carly asks Jason, trouble for Sonny? Carly catches up with Zander and begs him to stop. Carly tries to tell him that their friendship meant a lot to her, but he won't hear any of it. Angrily, he tells her he knows she used him as a substitute for Jason, but she's right about one thing, she is a liar. He continues to tell her to go ahead and make a life with Sonny full of lies, back stabbing and deception and then running to Jason when they fight, since Jason's too stupid to realize when he's being used and obviously enjoys the fringe benefits of sleeping with Carly. She tries again to tell him that her and Jason are friends only, but he's not listening anymore. He says that he was honest, loyal and look where it got him, he owes her nothing. Carly states the obvious that he's just jealous because she's back with Sonny. He asks her, what do I have to be jealous about? I could have had you more than once, I just didn't take you up on the offer, but I should have. She tells him that he was right about one thing, they are not friends any more and she leaves.

Alexis is staring at the check that Sonny wants to give Courtney and he asks her what's wrong. She says that she finds it amazing how he can be so generous and perceptive one minute and completely obtuse the next. Sonny wants Alexis to be honest with him so they can start dealing with the problem. She starts to explain that its difficult, when Sonny interjects and asks if its about him and Carly getting back together. Frustrated she tells him that he is the most self-obsessed person she knows and that just because she's upset or there's something wrong, doesn't always mean that its about him. She tells him that she's happy for him. Sonny is about to respond when they hear a commotion outside the apartment. We learn that Johnny has refused to allow Ned inside and Ned is demanding to see Alexis. Alexis tells Johnny that just because Sonny is in her apartment it doesn't give him the right to ever screen her visitors. Ned comes in. Alexis tells him that it is not a good time and rushes out after Sonny says, "We're not finished". Sonny asks Johnny to accompany Alexis to her car and Ned decides to stay behind. Ned senses trouble in paradise between Sonny and his attorney. Ned asks Sonny to please tell him what's bothering Alexis, he knows something is and he also knows that Sonny knows what it is. Sonny responds by saying that if there is something wrong with Alexis then ask her. Ned reminds Sonny how he destroyed Brenda's character and begs him not to do that to Alexis. Again, Sonny tells Ned to ask Alexis if he thinks something is wrong, Sonny isn't saying anything. He walks away and leaves an angered Ned.

Jason arrives and tells his boss that Roscoe is back in town. Sonny states that Roscoe is a fool and that someone that crazy needs to be stopped. Jason leaves, after assuring Sonny he will take care of it. Later Carly shows up and Sonny announces that he should get her a key made. She seems shocked at first, but then accepts the offer. Sonny calls her on the lie she told him about seeing Michael's teachers. She admits she lied, but only because things were moving fast and wanted to stop before it all came crashing down around her. Sonny says that everything will work out as long as they are honest with each other. She informs Sonny that if Zander is bound and determined to screw up his life than she is finished with him. Sonny reminds Carly that the #1 rule of survival, is to keep your hands off the boss's wife. Affectionately, Carly reminds him that she's his ex-wife, so he really didn't have a vote in what happened. He tells Carly that he knew all along that she was doing it just to make him care. Carly admits to this, and says that she did that because she wanted him to care and mean it. He tells her that he does care about her and always will and that he means it. They start kissing passionately, undressing each other.

Roscoe meets up with Zander on the docks and wants to do a simple transaction with him, info on Sonny for cash. At first Zander is hesitant but eventually he tells Roscoe the name of two of Sonny's holding companies. Jason watches from the shadows as Roscoe hands him and envelope full of cash and promises that there is more where that came from. Roscoe congratulates him on leaving Sonny’s employ and lets him know that there’s more cash where that came from for any more info he comes up with. Jason glares at the betrayal. Jason hangs around the docks keeping an eye on Zander.

At this moment across the hall, Alexis is drinking a glass of milk which she admits she would only drink for the baby. The following conversation ensues, between mom/baby: "As an officer of this court and your mother, I have a right to protect you. However, you have a right to know who your father is and he has a right to know you. I know that he will care about you and love you and I also know that I have to tell him now before I change my mind." Alexis has a heart to heart with her unborn child and tells it that its’ father is an honorable man, and that nothing is more important to him than family. She also mentions that they will be fine alone, but that she doesn’t have the right to keep Sonny from his child, nor does she want to try. She hesitates, but gets up and goes over to Sonny's. After knocking, she waits and Sonny finally arrives. Unfortunately, she has interrupted Sonny and Carly just as they are about to make love. We see Carly observing from the staircase through a mirror and overhear Alexis telling Sonny that she is sorry to bother him, but she has something important to tell him and it can't wait. He is instantly concerned. Carly listens from the top of the stairs as Alexis tells Sonny that she has something very important to tell him, alone. Carly’s insecurities resurface and she comes down the stairs, dressed in Sonny's shirt, to link her arms around Sonny and asks if their conversation can wait. Alexis' resolve to fess up about the baby fades very suddenly. Alexis backs off and walks back to her penthouse. Sonny mentions getting something to eat and takes off for a shower. Carly takes the opportunity to call Alexis and taunt her about that her one night stand with Sonny was it – the end, finito. So stop chasing my man!! Alexis states that Carly’s paranoia is running wild again and hangs up on her. Carly goes upstairs to dress as Jason enters and tells Sonny that Zander ratted him out. Jason and Sonny step into the hall to discuss this latest turn of events even as Alexis makes up her mind once again to tell Sonny the truth. As she starts to leave her apartment, she overhears their discussion of betrayal and of the consequences of being a traitor. As she leans against the door, she tells her child that she was wrong, that the baby’s father is a criminal and that sharing her child with him would be dangerous to them both.

Zander’s on the docks when Jason materializes from the shadows telling him that Sonny sent him. Zander refuses to back down from Jason. He taunts Jason and tries to push him. His mistake however comes when he tries to punch Jason. Not only does Jason get away untouched, but he teaches Zander a very painful lesson on the consequences of betrayal. Before leaving, Jason warns Zander to keep his quiet about Sonny’s business and about what just happened. As Jason is trying to hurry away Liz comes strolling along and strikes up a conversation with him (apparently she does not notice Zander laying on the ground 20 feet away). Liz suggests they go for a ride on his bike, but Jason suggest another time, as he is currently busy. They part and Liz continues on her way. A few seconds later she hears some moaning, sees the body, rushes over, realizes its Zander and calls 911.

Carly wants Sonny to invite Jason to join them for dinner. Sonny explains that Jason is busy and may not be able to join them. Sonny escorts Carly to the elevator then returns to his PH. Carly only pretends to leave. As soon as she is sure Sonny can’t see her, she hurries to Alexis’ door. When Alexis answers, Carly pushes her way in and tells Alexis that she needs to move so Jason can move back in. Carly gives Alexis the name of a real estate agent and urges her to move as far away as possible to avoid further embarrassing herself over Sonny. Carly tells Alexis that not only does Sonny no longer want Alexis but he belongs to her (Carly). Alexis asks why Carly is so worried and jealous-if what Carly says is true. Alexis points out that Sonny wouldn’t appreciate Carly referring to him as property. She manages to add that Carly’s only way of getting Sonny back was to drive over a cliff in a pathetic attempt for attention. Alexis remains undecided whether to tell Sonny about the baby. Alexis daydreams herself as a witness on the stand in court. She also is the questioning attorney and is there for questioning herself. She is brought out of the daydream when she receives a call that makes her rush out.

Zander is brought into the ER. Liz is still with him. Ned asks what happened, but Liz can only tell him that Zander doesn’t want the police involved. Tony reports that Zander was the victim of a professional beating. Zander declines Tony’ offer to call Sonny. Alexis arrives and Ned implies that Sonny is responsible for Zander’s beating. Alexis defends Sonny and as usual Ned accuses her of being in denial. Alexis starts to walk away but drops her pursue and several things spill out. Ned helps her pick them up, and then they stop arguing and stand close by Zander’s beside. Unseen by either Kristina approaches. When she sees them standing close together, her insecurities resurface and she walks away with out speaking to them. Tony calls the PCPD. Alexis enters and asks Zander who beat him. Zander doesn’t answer. Alexis asks if Sonny is responsible, but again Zander says nothing. Out by the nurses’ station, a nurse hands Ned something and tells him his friend (meaning Alexis) dropped it when she dropped her purse. Ned looks at the item, its a bottle of prenatal vitamins.

Carly is happy when Jason stops by. She tells him how happy she is to have him back and asks him to stay permanently. Carly is in the kitchen when Sonny arrives. Jason reports that Zander got the message and understands the rules now. Carly returns, overhears part of the conversation and asks questions. Sonny evades them. Jason just doesn’t answer. Michael arrives and at Carly’s urging welcomes Jason home. (Note: I believe this is the scene that Steve referred to at his August event when he said he had to bribe the little actor with Pokemon cards!). Later, Michael asks if they will all be living together again. Before Carly can say anything, Sonny explains that though he and Carly love each other they are not going to be living together anytime soon. Later, Carly makes a toast to her “family” just as the doorbell rings. It is Taggert, who wants to question Jason and Sonny about the assault on Zander.

Taggert showed up at Carly's house and made it clear that he believed that Sonny and Jason were the guilty parties. Naturally, being concerned, Carly races off to the hospital to see Zander, where she also discovers the truth. She walks off and is almost gone when Sonny jumps into the elevator. He then proceeds to attempt an explanation and tells Carly the truth. He says that Zander deserved to die for what he did, but was spared because he didn't want to cause Carly any pain.

Alexis went to Sonny and officially gave notice of her move at the month's end. He asked her if it was because of what she thought he did, and Alexis told him it was because of what she knew he did. He asked if it had anything to do with Carly, and Alexis said that her decision was not based on Carly. "I'm looking to my future and it feels right." Sonny was obviously upset, but responded, "Good for you."

Carly went to Jason's, asking for "help." Jason immediately asked her, "What did you do?" Carly replied that she hadn't done anything yet, but she was about to. She was sure she was going to do something to screw up her rekindled relationship with Sonny, just as she always did. Jason told her that Sonny loved her, and that all she had to do was always tell the truth. She asked him how to not go crazy when something upsets her, but Jason didn't have the answer, and Carly left, discouraged. When she arrived at the penthouse, Sonny told her about Alexis's decision to move. She seemed surprised and afraid at the same time. After Sonny questioned Carly, she finally admitted to Sonny that she had suggested to Alexis that she leave. Sonny eventually appreciated her honesty and felt that it might be best for everyone involved. Then, Carly suggested that they keep Alexis's apartment and combine the two units so that they would have enough room to grow raise a family, Sonny agreed. Sonny then left for a meeting, and Carly decided that having another baby was the best way to ensure her continued happiness. She called Dr. Meadows, scheduled an emergency appointment and left. On her way to the doctor, she dropped back by Jason's to tell him the great news. Jason was happy for her, but obviously still irritated that Carly had not told Sonny the truth about her disappearance. She ignored him completely about that subject, and then continued talking about her and Sonny's future and family plans. Meanwhile, a worried Kristina showed up at Sonny's looking for Alexis. After giving him the rundown on where she had already looked, Sonny assured her he would check it out and keep her posted.

After her appointment with Dr. Meadows, Carly stops by and tells Jason why she's made plans for a big night with Sonny. She wants to get started on a baby right away. Jason cautions her that she is moving to quickly and needs to slow down. After Jason reports that they found Alexis’ car broken on the road close to Brenda’s old cottage, Sonny goes to check the cottage himself. Carly shows up at the PH just a Sonny is leaving to look for Alexis. He assures her he will return soon, but doesn’t tell her where he is going. Once he arrives, he peers in through the window and sees Ned and Alexis wrapped in a blanket, apparently sharing a close moment. Sonny jumps to the conclusion that they have slept together and retraces his steps.

Carly enters and finds Jason waiting. She suggests he leave but Jason refuses saying Sonny asked him to stay. When Sonny finally does return Jason warns him that Carly has been “cooking” and quickly excuses himself. After dinner, while Sonny is in the kitchen preparing dessert, Carly receives and upsetting phone call from Dr. Meadows. Dr. Meadows tells Carly that she is unable to conceive, most likely due to her fall down the stairs. Dr. Meadows tells her there are tests they can run, but it doesn’t look good. Carly is incredibly upset. Sonny tries to figure out what is wrong, but she doesn’t tell him. He presents her with dessert, which includes a paper declaring that the divorce never went through and they are still married. She bursts into tears. He tries to explain that this is a good thing. She says she knows that, she was just surprised and starts to tell him about talking to Dr. Meadows, but in the end, she lies and tells him that Dr. Meadows gave her the okay. She asks Sonny to make love to her. Afterward, she vows to a sleeping Sonny that whatever it takes, she will give him a child. She gets dressed and leaves a message for Dr. Meadows, telling her she doesn’t “accept” her diagnosis. As she heads into the hallway, she runs into Alexis.

CLUB 101, Carly desperately tries to schedule an appointment with a fertility specialist. Edward overhears the tail end of Carly’s call and slyly offers to ‘help’. Carly informs Edward he will never get close to Michael. Jason makes his presence known when Edward issues a thinly veiled threat. Carly tearfully confides in Jason that she's unable to conceive. Jason advises her to confide in Sonny. Jax interrupts them to discuss business with Carly. He suggests Carly step down if she can’t handle the club. Carly angrily refuses and reminds him that the club was her idea in the first place. After Jax leaves, Jason tells Carly he thinks her partnership with Jax was a BIG mistake but Carly is sure Jax won’t double-cross her. Carly runs into AJ at the bar and tells him to leave on his own or be thrown out. Neither can believe when they see Jason and Courtney talking. Carly asks tells Courtney and AJ to leave. Jason says Carly should let them stay because Sonny would want it that way. AJ and Courtney do leave and Carly accuses Jason of taking Courtney’s side. Jason won’t play along and advises Carly again to tell Sonny about her fertility problem before Sonny finds out on his own like he always does. Carly disregards Jason’s advice and decides to leave Sonny out of the loop and begin fertility treatments ASAP.

Sonny wakes up to find Carly watching him. She goes on about how wonder it was to fall asleep in his arms, with leads to kissing. They don’t get very far because Michael bursts through the door asking for pancakes. Michael is very happy to see Sonny and asks if this means they are a “family” again. Sonny tells him they have always been one. Michael then reminds his mother that she promised him a baby brother or sister. Carly insists she didn’t “promise”. Sonny tries to explain that babies take time but it will happen. “Maybe for Christmas?” asks an excited Michael. After Michael leaves Carly apologizes and is pleasantly surprised that Sonny is not angry with her. In fact Sonny wants to get started on making a baby ASAP. Benny calls and tells Sonny that Jason has the check. Sonny then tells Carly about the donation he is making to GH in honor of the Day of Compassion and Stone. Carly is ecstatic when Sonny proposes that they go to Martinique and renew their vows. Sonny says they can leave immediately after he takes care of some business later that same day. While Sonny showers, Carly receives a call from Dr. Bonds at Mercy hospital. The doctor explains that Carly tubes are blocked which is why she can’t get pregnant. Dr. Bonds asks Carly to come in for some tests. Carly is eager but the first available appointment is not for three weeks. The doctor then notices a cancellation for that evening. Carly is reluctant but the doctor explains that it is either that same night or wait three weeks. When Sonny returns Carly lies and says a serious problem has come up at the Club. She suggests they postpone the wedding trip for a few days, and tells Sonny she will out late at the club. At Mercy Hospital, after an initial meeting with her Doctor, Alexis sits in the reception area and fills out forms. Suddenly she hears a familiar voice saying she needs to be checked in, it’s Carly.

Alexis arrives at Kelly's to find Sonny waiting for her. Sonny thanks her for coming and tells her it is important. Alexis wonders why Sonny isn’t at the hospital with Carly. Then says she just came from there and saw Carly checking in. Dr. Bonds explains to Carly that the procedure they are about to perform doesn’t come with a guarantee, but it could help them determine what the exact problem is and therefore the best course of action for treatment. Later Carly questioned a nurse about the after effects of her procedure when the door flies open and Sonny walks in demanding to know what is going on. Carly concocts a story to cover the real reason she was admitted. Carly had Alexis' file in her lap, ready to snoop. Sonny came to see her and wanted to see the file, thinking it was hers. She stopped him from taking it, saying it wasn't hers. He asked why she had it and she said she thought it was hers at the time. She put it back on the desk. Dr. Bonds came and said she had the results of her tests. They went back to Carly's room and Carly caused a distraction knocking stuff over so Sonny had to pick it up and she could gesture to the Doctor not to say anything. She said everything was fine. She couldn't find anything that explained her headaches. After the Dr. leaves, Sonny informs Carly that she didn’t fool him and demands to know what she is hiding. Again without giving him any details Carly tries to convince him that she is afraid for him to hear something that will take them away from each other. Sonny promises that he will stay with her no matter what because he loves her. Alexis returns looking for her appointment book and runs into Sonny in the lobby. Alexis asks about Carly and then feels she has to explain her own presence. She tells Sonny she was there earlier, interviewing an expert witness, and left her appointment book. Sonny looks as if he doesn’t quite believe her but lets it go. Neither is aware that Carly is watching them. Later, Carly also watches as Alexis speaks to Dr. Bonds and overhears that Alexis is pregnant!

Carly sneaks into Dr. Bond's office to look at Alexis' record. Unfortunately, she didn't find the answers she was looking for, because Alexis' file didn't contain information about the father of her baby. Suddenly, Carly hears someone at the door and hides behind a chair. That's when Dr. Bonds and Alexis come in to discuss Alexis' pregnancy. Carly listens in as Alexis explains that there is no way she is going to tell the father she's pregnant. Without even saying his name, Carly knows that Alexis is carrying Sonny's baby. Later, Carly sees Alexis outside her penthouse and confronts her, encouraging her to move far away (Manhattan preferably). In the middle of the confrontation, Sonny comes out of his penthouse and over hears what's going on, coming to the defense of Alexis. Inside, Sonny tells Carly that he understands how uncomfortable the situation is for everyone, but Alexis is his friend and lawyer.

Jason calls Sonny from the PD and asks him to come down and post bail. When Sonny gets there, Taggert seems a little surprised that Sonny doesn't want to bail Zander as well. After the threat of pressing harassment charges (which were false, since Alexis told Sonny to get another lawyer because she was busy), Taggert releases Jason and Zander.

Carly contacts a member of Alexis's former law firm and suggests that her "dear friend" needs to make a hasty retreat from Port Charles. Meanwhile, Sonny stonewalls when Alexis presses him for details about his latest trouble. Alexis informs him of her decision to accept her old job back at the firm in Manhattan. Sonny is surprised and questions her but Carly is grinning ear to ear. Alexis says she couldn't turn down their offer and will be leaving soon but gives him a list of new attorneys she suggests and says she will fulfill her contractual obligations. Sonny wishes her well and says he won't stop her if this is what she wants and Alexis leaves. Carly talks to Sonny about what a good move this is for Alexis then there's a knock at the door. A delivery man brings a package. Carly opens the bag and finds a beautiful new dress to get married in because he says, it's the last time. Carly says it will be just the two of them with no witnesses. She says she feels like she doesn't deserve all this happiness. Sonny says it's crazy and tells her to stop and go get dressed. The minister and Sonny are talking when Carly comes down. Sonny asks her to marry him and she says she thought he'd never ask. She's in a sparkling white tank dress with her hair pulled back. The minister begins. Carly has some things to say as well as Sonny. Alexis starts to walk in but hears them and stops and listens.

At Sonny's Penthouse, Carly and Sonny are renewing their vows when Taggert interrupts, with Alexis in tow. He has a warrant to search the house. Sonny makes some noise and is arrested for threatening a police officer. Not to be outdone by her husband, Carly is arrested for assaulting a police officer. At the PCPD, Jason is questioned for the double homicide at the River Rat Bar. Taggert, Sonny, Carly, and Alexis burst in. Alexis threatens Taggert with all kinds of legal action for illegally holding her client. He lets Sonny go, but not Carly. Carly is taken away but still manages to hurl a few insults on her way out the door. Sonny asks Alexis to get Carly out. Carly is less than thrilled with her representation but Alexis gets her off with a little community service. Sonny and Carly finally finish renewing their vows without interruption.

Club 101, Carly is happy that Sonny has consented to hang at her club. Sonny tells her he wants to be with her, plus he doesn’t want to give the impression that he is hiding. Carly happily recalls opening night and tells Sonny how much she wanted to kiss him then. Sonny tells Carly how proud he was of her. Felicia and Roy stop by Carly and Sonny's table. Roy suggests to Sonny that they let bygones be bygones. Sonny refuses to shake Roy’s outstretched hand and coldly informs him that he will never forgive Roy for using Carly’s fears against him. After muttering what could be considered a threat “expect it when you least expect it” Sonny quickly ushers Carly away.

Sonny agrees to Skye’s request and they move away. Carly asks Jax what business Skye has with Sonny. Jax explains that Skye is merely providing a distraction because he doesn’t think Carly wants Sonny to know that she embezzled $100,000. Carly claims Sonny wouldn’t care. Jax is sure Sonny would applaud it, but is equally sure that Carly doesn’t want Sonny to know what she used the money for. Carly quickly assures Jax that she intends to pay it back. Jax tells Carly there is no need. Carly is sure that is a catch. Jax explains that since he no longer trusts her, he wants her to resign as club manager immediately. Jax explains that while she will no longer be managing or drawing a salary, he will continue to share the profits with her. Carly refuses point blank. Jax threaten to tell Sonny right then and there. Before Carly can say anything else Sonny, returns and draws Carly away. Sonny immediately notices that Carly is upset and asks why. Carly asks him to take her home. As they head out the door, Carly turns and takes a longing look over the club.

Alexis steps out into the hall to retrieve a box (for unpacking) just as Sonny and Carly step off the elevator. Carly’s already bad night gets worse, when Alexis tells them she is staying at the PH longer than originally planned, until she finds a new place in PC. When Carly asks about Manhattan, Alexis says she decided to stay close to her family and friends. Sonny tells Alexis he is glad she is staying, but Alexis informs him that she hasn’t changed her mind about not being his attorney. After telling Sonny she filled the lawsuit on his behalf, Alexis returns to her apartment. Carly stomps to Sonny’s apartment muttering that Alexis should have left.

After promising Michael a trip to the park to watch the fireworks for the Fourth of July, Carly hangs up the phone and expresses regret that business will keep Sonny from joining them. When Sonny suggests meeting at the club at closing time Carly “happily’ tells him she decided to quit. Sonny asks why she would do such a thing. Carly claims she just wants to spend all her time with him and Michael and concentrate on expanding their family. Sonny asks if her conversation with Jax the previous night has anything to do with it. Carly denies it and claims she has been considering quitting for a while. It is obvious that Sonny is not convinced by her story. Later, Jason shows up and tells Sonny that he has had no luck finding Liz. Jason fills Sonny in on Taggert's offer of assistance. Sonny warns that there will be a price tag attached to Taggert's help. Jason tells Sonny that he wants to take Taggert up on his offer and admits that Liz means a lot to him. (Liz and Zander have been kidnapped and are being held hostage in the crypt).

At the annual Quartermaine picnic, AJ spots Carly and Michael walking by. He goes over to greet them despite Carly’s attempt to usher Michael away. Michael remembers that AJ upset Bobbie when Carly was missing. AJ leans down and tells Michael that he is his father despite Carly’s warnings. Michael insists Sonny is his father. Carly tells Michael that AJ is just teasing him and quickly walks away leaving behind a strangely silent AJ.

Sonny arrives at the club looking for Jax but finds Alexis diligently working. After some uncomfortable small talk, Sonny tells Alexis that he thinks Jax is trying to push Carly out of the club and asks her to file an injunction to stop him. Alexis has to inform him that she can’t because Jax has already hired her. Sonny asks why Jax is pushing Carly out, but Alexis says he’ll have to ask Carly since she won’t violate attorney/client privilege-even for him. Jax returns and tells Sonny to back off. Sonny refuses to leave without knowing why Jax is pushing Carly out of her club. He is shocked when Jax informs him that Carly embezzled $100 grand from the club account. Sonny vehemently denies that Carly took any money, insists Jax took the money and set Carly up. Sonny won’t hear any of it. Jax ponders if Sonny doth protest too much and suggests Sonny is in such an uproar because he knows Carly is guilty. Jax and Sonny bicker. Sonny turns to Alexis for help, but she stays firmly on Jax’s side. Sonny says, “Something has changed.” Sonny writes a check for the $100,000 and gives it to Jax, but he isn’t interested. He rips it up.

Jason returns to the PH looking for Sonny but finds only Carly. He is too upset to listen when she tries to tell him about the incident in the park with AJ. He asks if anyone has called him. Carly reports that the police called to say they didn’t find anything. Jason fills Carly in on the fact that Liz is missing. As he is relating the situation to her, he realizes that E.L.Q. might not have anything to do with the Quartermaines after all (this is the only clue he has to go on as to Liz's whereabouts).

Carly returns to the penthouse and is annoyed to find Taggert in her. Jason and Taggert conduct their business around her. Taggert wants Jason’s help in return. Jason averts the chief’s suggestion and says maybe “ELQ” refers to another person, not Edward Quartermaine. Taggert says he will look into the other stuff, but he wants more information, like what the ransom note involved. Jason isn’t interested. Taggert says he will look anyway. Sonny shows up and is also disgusted that Taggert is there. Before Taggert leaves, he suggests to Jason that should he ever decide to stop working for Sonny, he’d have a great career in law enforcement. Jason takes off to meet with Benny. Alone, Carly starts kissing Sonny. He turns to her and wants to know why she embezzled money from Jax. Carly denies it and blames it all on Alexis. He tells her he loves her and will stand by her. She says she used the money for infertility treatments. Sonny reminded Carly that he told her in the hospital that he'd love her always and be by her side that she could have told him truth. Sonny got a call from Benny and raced out the door.
