Welcome to the USS Bloembergen, a Nova-class starship and one of the most recent starships to go into active service. Named after Professor Nicolaas Bloembergen, a 20th-21st century American Physicist, this ship is a vessel of continuing the knowledge and understanding of the universe around us, in addition to honoring Professor Bloembergen. I am her commanding officer, Captain Bane Plase, and I welcome you to the ship.
Assigned to explore beyond the Bajoran sector, the USS Bloembergen is on the front lines of exploration and discovery, penetrating deeply into unexplored space. More often than not, the USS Bloembergen is left on her own, depending on the skill, ingineuty and resolve of the crew which resides within her.
The secondary mission of the USS Bloembergen is theoretical in nature. Equipped with a specialized Theoretical and Research Bay, the Bloembergen is also on the front lines of new technologies, pushing the envelope of Federation understanding and research. Additionally, the USS Bloembergen follows the orders, directions, defense, scientific and diplomatic calls of Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets as a whole.
