MAHASAMADHI

His Holiness Bhagwan Sri Yogi Ramsuratkumar attained Mukthi on 20th February 2001 at 3.19 A.M. in His Ashram at Thiruvannamalai. It was Mahashivarathri day; a day auspicious to Lord Shiva, the ultimate God. In the Ashram’s spacious Hall, Sri Swamiji was placed in a sitting position in a wheel chair next to His bronze statue. Sri Swamiji’s smiling face, was radiant with sandal paste and kumkum on the forehead. He was dressed with a green turban and wrapped with blue shawl around his body. His hand fan and kottanguchi was placed near Him.

Right from the morning, devotees from different parts of the world came to the Ashram to have darshan of Sri Swamiji. Devotees who were assembled in the Hall chanted His namam and sang devotional songs. One could hear devotees talking to each other as to how they were blessed and protected by Bhagwan. Bhagwan, residing in Thiruvannamali for more than 40 years has done a lot to help people by solving their problems.

On 21st February 2001 the Mahasamadhi celebrations  commenced. The celebration started with Sangu Abishekam and Bootha Sukthi Pooja. Sri Swamiji was adorned with myriad of flowers and garlands. The devotees carried Bhagwan in a decorated palanquin around the Ashram on a procession.

It was at 4:45 P.M. with devotees singing “Yogi Ramsuratkumar Jayagururaya”, Vedic scholars uttering Vedas, Sri Swamiji was kept inside the Mahasamadhi. Devotees had poured in lots of coins, Rupee notes, gold and silver jewellery inside the samadhi. The samadhi was later filled with Panchaloagam, Vibudhi, Vilvam camphor, sandal, thulasi, turmeric, doopsticks, ghee, roots of vetti, vilamichi, nannari and other herbs. Subsequently a Sivalingam was mounted on top of the Samadhi.

Daily abishekam, pooja and bhajans are performed. Ashram is planning to construct a Mani Mandapam to house the Sivalingam. The meditation hall is open to the public. Devotees can now sit and meditate and get the blessings of Guru Maharaj. Every devotee feels the presence of Bhagwan in the Ashram.

It may be recalled that Bhagwan once said He will continue to grace the devotees who visit the ashram and the grace will definitely be more in his physical absence.
