Beauty FAQ's about Skin Care

Caring for your skin is another area that conscious women everywhere feel deeply about and are committed to shifting the industry attitudes about. We are shifting from a focus on antiaging to a focus on healthy skin. Healthy skin is more than skin deep and requires nourishing the skin on a daily basis, not just using something to plump over wrinkles or paralyze them temporarily, the way botox does. Here are a few skin care questions answered.

1. Can I use the same antiaging or skin care cream for under-eye care as I use for the rest of my face? Yes, you can, but it isn't the best course of action. Skincare developed for the under-eye area will be different than a general face cream, because the skin itself is different .

If you touch the skin on your cheek, press in just a tad, and then do the same directly under your eye, you will probably be able to tell a difference. The skin on your cheek is tougher. The skin under the eyes is more delicate and responds best to skin care formulated for the under-eye area.

A good under-eye cream will address wrinkling but will additional address dark circles under the eyes and under-eye puffiness.

2. Do the chemicals in skin care products cause skin cancer? Usually, the most talked about factor in skin cancer is sun exposure. Most beauty experts will advise you to never be out in the sun for any prolonged period of time without the protection of a sunscreen.

Interestingly enough, according to The Skin Cancer Foundation menopause may provide added protection against skin cancers from sun exposure but that doesn't mean menopausal women should expose themselves to the sun, unprotected.

While I have not come across any studies that prove chemicals in skin care products are responsible for any type of skin cancer, the statistics on skin cancer alone are enough to make me want to take the best possible care of my skin that I can, and that would naturally mean avoiding potentially harmful chemicals.
