The exposure of children to the horrors of war can never be justified. There is no simple solution to bringing peace to the world. Nations continue to build more and more sophisticated weapons as a deterrent to wars and as a means of self defense. Unfortunately, the intended deterrent at times is the result of humanitarian catastrophes.
