WHEN WAR CASUALTIES ARE CHILDREN

Photos of Vietnamese War Casualties

Children have been the victims of war in many ways. Many become orphans and denied of their many rights and left to fend for themselves at a very young age.

These pictures were taken on the Vietnamese ward at the hospital at Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam in 1969.  These children were being treated for shrapnel wounds. Some children were orphans and suffering from malnutrition and other illnesses. Many died from treatable diseases.

Amongst the devastation, children often have to find their own means of coping with the horrors of war. Facing such conditions during their formative years leaves permanent scars on their psychological development.
