Pumpkins pummel Blackhawks, Drag Surfin knocks off Blue Ballers in a Shootout; Drag Surfin & Great Pumpkins to Meet in Smoosebowl V
The top seeded Great Pumpkins advanced as expected to Smoosebowl V after a dominating performance against the Blackhawks in Tuesday's semifinal matchup. The Pumpkins exploded in the first quarter as Will Ogle and Shaun Ally returned the opening kickoff down to the Blackhawks 25 yard line after a tricky lateral runback. Two plays later, QB Scott Krebs found Kyle Willis in the end zone. On the Blackhawks first possession, Ogle intercepted Blackhawk QB Carl Campana for a pick-6 that brought the Pumpkins lead to a quick 12-0. The Pumpkins then go the ball back and on the first play, Krebs found Ogle who took the ball the distance for another score to push the lead to 19-0. The lead increased in the second after Ally intercepted a pass and Krebs found Willis and David Harris on two more touchdown scores. Down 32-0, Campana finally broke the shutout with a long touchdown pass to Alex Torres. Ogle's second pick-6 of the game in the third quarter made the score 38-6, and while the Blackhawks fought hard to dominate the third and fourth quarters, the game was long over, and it was the Pumpkins who eased into the finals by the final score of 38-27. The Pumpkins will be playing Drag Surfin, who won a wildly contested game with the Blueballers 38-31 to advance to the Smoosebowl.
