Apolakkia is a village located in the southeast of Rhodes. It is situated between two hills, and nearby there is a 20 kilometers long and wide beach. Apolakkia is surrounded by fields with olive trees. The distance to Rhodes town is about 90 kilometers and the village is home to slightly more than 400 people. Apolakkia has a large square where traffic passes by. Around this square there are some restaurants. The large church with its bell tower is located a little further into the village. Many people drive through the village on their way to the castle of Monolithos. In the vicinity of the village are two Byzantine churches, one of which is found at the Apolakkia lake, which lies just north of the village. It is the Byzantine church of Agios Georgios which dates from 1290. At the lake are trees that provide shade and you can also swim in this water.
