Secrets
Secrets are purposefully hidden, difficult-to-find stuff that a player eager to beat the game in a week could easily miss. They could be part of the storyline, or they may not. Either way, it is a part of the game and doesn't seem weirdly out of place (this is different from a cheat. Several known secrets of Final Fantasy VII are listed here. There are probably more, some of which you may be able to find yourself. You might also like to visit the Rumors page, where contains unproven or untrue stuff which might normally qualify as a Secret. Got a secret that we don't have? You can e-mail me
The Unreachable Item in Kalm
A few people have asked me over e-mail how to get the item in one of the cabinets on the second floor of the inn in Kalm. I used to think that it was just there to keep you frustrated, but there is actually a very simple way to get it. You have to attempt to open the cabinet five times in a row, and Cloud will finally swear and kick the cabinet so that the item falls out. It's a Megalixir, which can be very useful early in the game. While we're still in Kalm, there are two other things to point out:
Fast 'n' Easy GP
Every once in a while, a man would be standing by the house all the way in the background of the entrance to the Gold Saucer. He's literally right next to the house. If you look there, you'll be able to tell if there's a person there or not - he stands out, much like other polygonal characters of the game. If you go back there and talk to him, he'll offer to sell you 1 GP for every 100 Gil. However, you can only select GP ten at a time, with a max of 100 (that would be 10,000 Gil). Is it worth it? It is, for some fast GP. A hundred is an awful lot. However, you might want to think twice before spending 10,000 Gil. The game I was playing had over a million, so I had no trouble with wasting cash. If you happen to be really GP-hungry, a better way of getting it is to go race Chocobos. A few other side notes - previously I heard that you have to have a Golden Ticket for unlimited passes to the Gold Saucer. I don't know if owning one is required for this trick to work, or simply because with a Golden Ticket it is easier to walk in and out of the entrance to find the man without having to pay each time. However, it is also possible to see the man when entering the area via the sky lift. Fast 'n' Easy Gil
Go to the desert outside of the Gold Saucer and walk around for a while. Sooner or later a little Cactus Man will appear. You can't beat him with magic or weapons, but he can be defeated by summoning Chocobos or Mogs. If you manage to kill him he's worth 10,000 gil! The 1/35 Soldiers
The 1/35 Soldier is really a useless item. There was so much unsubstantiated information about these Soldiers that they've been moved to the Rumors page. Turtle's Paradise Letters
This is an incomplete section right now. In a short summary, you need to find the six Turtle's Paradise flyers distributed around the world. The locations of each and what it says on most of them are listed below. When you find them all, go to the Turtle's Paradise pub in Wutai and claim your prize, which is also listed below.

Prize: Power Source, Luck Source, Mind Source, Magic Source, Gaurd Source, Speed Source, and Megalixir. Mt. Corel Secret Areas
There are two "hidden" rooms on Mt. Corel, located in the are where there's a set of tracks, one on the bottom with the control room to open one at the top. It is the area right before the long rope bridge, right before you enter the town of North Corel. (You'll find it.) These secret rooms are secret because they're not labeled with the red triangles when you press Select to view exits. The first one is along the upper track. Right along the first bend on the right, you'll hear some birds chirping. (If you don't, then move around until you do.) You can climb up the wall, and you'll come across a really peaceful scene of some baby birds. There's a treasure there, but to get it, you'll have to fight a Cokatolis. The prize is ten Phoenix Downs. I've also heard that if you leave the treasure alone, you can come back for a better one later. The second hidden room is along the lower track. At the bottom of the screen, the track branches to the left and twists back on itself, and goes underneath the mountain. Follow it. You'll enter a cave, which is the home of one of the unfortunate people of North Corel. There's a Tent in the chest, as well as a Mind Source and a Power Source lying around. Key to Midgar, Sector 5
In the later sections of game (Disc 2) when you walk into Midgar a man stands outside wondering where he left his key. He hints that he left it the the excavation place, namely Bone Village. You can find it, and then use it to re-enter Midgar. At the Bone Village, talk to the guy at the entrance that lets you dig for stuff. Ask to dig up "Normal treasure." It'll be found on the top area of the site, so go up there and set up all five staff members along the perimeter. Spread them out so they for a circle of sorts. You should place someone in the following spots: at the exit to the Sleeping Forest, on the left hand side of the screen, near the ladder, on the right hand side, and next to the tent entrance. Set the bomb off anywhere; it doesn't matter. Then watch carefully for the spot that all five staff members are facing. That is where you should dig. It should be somewhere along the bottom ledge to the left of the burnt spot in the ground. Once you're inside Midgar, the only things worth getting are the Sneak Glove (which will be sold to you for 129,000 Gil) and the Premium Heart, Tifa's Ultimate Weapon. To get the Sneak Glove, go to the Weapon Shop of Sector 6. The guy on the left will sell it to you if you talk to him. To get the Premium Heart, go to the small building labeled Item near the entrance of Sector 6. Use the computer. Previously, in the beginning of the game, it won't work, but now you'll get the weapon. You'll also get a secret scene if you go here with Cloud, Tifa, and Cid.

All Lucky 7's
This is a very rare occurance, I have played through FF7 twice and only had this happen once. Here's the deal: Any character's hit points, when reduced to 7777 get's the "All Lucky 7's" option under their attack. Your character will just go buck wild and starts attacking the enemy with many hits at 7777 damage each time. The one downside though to this is that at the end of battle your HP is reduced to 1. It would be possible to have a certain combination of materia, level, and damage that equals 7777 so that you begin each and every battle with that many hit points so you could go on the war path and do serious damage everytime. However, no such combination is known. If you know it send it in. Remember the factors to... well... factor in are: character, materia, and level. I say character because all of the characters' base HPs are different. Joshua Bengal writes: "An interesting thing though ... I tried beating Ruby weapon using this trick (I have no patience to breed chocobo's, and I'm trying to beat him to get a gold chocobo from the kalm traveler.)
Easy two mega-materia
In the final dungeon when you are prompted to take your party to the left and right path... take your party to the right path thus leaving the rest to go to the left. Follow the path down to the end where you meet up with the rest of the group. You can ta ke the path that leads to where the party went left - do it and collect all the items from the left path. Now return to the group. They will hand over the items that they found on the left path (which are the same items you got).
