Intermediate Cave Trip
Friday, November 28, 2003 through Sunday, November 30, 2003


Pig Hole Cave (a vertical pit - individuals must be vertically qualified).
New River Cave (a steep 0 to 500 foot elevation climb is
necessary to reach the cave entrance).

We will be camping at Claytor Lake State Park.

(Only 2 people have stated that they wish to do this trip, Joedy Klimas
and Pat Minney.  We need at least two more vertically qualified people
to make a commitment by the 20th of November or this trip will be canceled.)

Wilderness First Aid Training

If anyone would like to or knows of anyone that would like to take this course please sign up now. This will the last one until spring '04.

The Wilderness First Aid class will be held the first two weekends of Dec. (6,7,13,14)commencing at 0800 each day.  We should finish up around 1430-1500 each day except for the last one when we usually finish around 13:30.  The location will be at the Safety Office on the VIMS campus.  This class will go as scheduled, at present there four attendees. Price is $35.00 for VIMS personnel and family members, significant others, etc... and for other educational facilities and groups the Price is $70.00.  Prior registration required not later than 01 Dec 2003. ER-NCRC Level 1 and Level 2
Cave Rescue Modular Classes

Modular cave rescue classes by ER-NCRC will be held at Grand Caverns, a commercial cave near Grottoes, Virginia.  Each course will cost approximately $300.  The contact person for these classes is Douglas Moore (info@er-ncrc.org).  Tentative dates for the classes are:

Friday, 27 February 2004 through Sunday, 29 February 2004
Friday,12 March 2004 through Sunday, 14 March 2004
Saturday, 27 March 2004 through Monday, 29 March 2004

If you can take advantage of this, do so.  It will be unlikely that we will get the opportunity to have these classes offered to us so close to home again.  Grottoes, Virginia is between Staunton and Harrisonburg, Virginia along the I-81 corridor.
