Loads from The Varmint Hunter Magazine, Issue No. 8

The load table below is from the October 93, No. 8 issue of TVHM.   The article by Steve Timm is titled 'VHA Custom Gun #1'.  Mr Timm tested the first rifle in the  VHA  custom gun series. The rifle was built by Darrell Holland, using a Remington short action, 24" Pac-Nor 1-8" twist barrel, Jewell trigger & McMillian benchrest stock. It included a muzzle brake, titanium firing pin, single-shot adaptor, Warne rings and a Leupold BR-24X scope customized by Premier Reticle. It was this article that first sparked my interest in the 6mm Ackley.

The loads listed were safe in the rifle in which they were fired. Do not assume that they would be safe in yours.
Start with 6mm Remington loads from a current load manual and work up.

All loads listed were with the bullets making contact with the lands.
The Hammett 109 VLD bullet was deemed to be too long (1.25") and heavy for the 8 inch twist barrel.
Mr. Timm reported a .410" 200 yard group, and one at .450" with the load of 51.0 IMR 7828 and 95 Nosler Balistic Tip.
