Clive Barker
Clive Barker is most known for creating the Hellraiser series in 1987. He also directed a short film, The Forbidden, which inspired 1992's horror hit Candyman, and his Hellraiser story/movie spawned numerous sequels.
Stephen King
Although not directly a movie writer, numerous books of Stephen King have been translated into movies ever since the 1970's. His first book that was put onto film was Carrie in 1976. Later, The Shining was released in 1980. His other books that have been translated into films include Firestarter, Salem's Lot, Cujo, Christine, Children of the Corn, Stand By Me, Pet Sematary, It, Misery, The Shawshank Redemption, Dolores Claiborne, The Green Mile, and Rose Red.
